Kevin K
Wait...we need to have a phone conversation before downloading the trial version of 2022? Really??? Quote Link to comment
Kevin K
Also…in previewing some of the “new features” in 2022 in the videos, I see nothing about incorporating Julian’s Windoor objects? You guys forget that part? Quote Link to comment

You guys forget that part? @Kevin KYou will be able to add WinDoor via Install Partners Product command under the Help menu ( available for all Vectorworks 2022 Design Series products). You can also find a learning path in the University https://www.vectorworks.net/windoor-tutorial 4 Quote Link to comment
Kevin K
Juan I have been using windoor for years, so I have no need for the university thing. It just seems a bit arcane where you parked the item, in the big picture. 1 Quote Link to comment
Andrew Pollock
Hey Kevin. Are you giving 2022 a test drive? Quote Link to comment
Kevin K
Andrew, how goes it? 🙂 Well…..since you asked. I am a little put off at the moment, for several reasons. First off, that I would need to “ have a conversation” with someone at the company before I could download the trial version. I read that and my jaw hit the floor. As you may recall I did not upgrade to 2021 because of all the existing items in the program that needed some attention and fixing, which did not get that attention. Especially, among other things, my all time favorite complaint, that they cannot ever seem to address the issue where a wood grain texture around door and window trim can ludicrously go in one direction only….which would only happen on Earth 2. For a guy like me who does a lot of photo realistic rendering, that is the death knell. Also, based upon what Juan P mentioned to me about the Windoor items only being available in the Design Series, and apparently not offered to anyone who just wants VW architect….seems like a really bad decision. I really am not affected, as I already have and use Windoor exclusively. I never bother using the native VW door and window tools…..ever. So…..I have an intuitive feeling that there will exist the same old issues of not fixing things that are still ‘broken’. But, I cannot qualify that because I need to “have that conversation” with a rep before I can download the trial version to have a little test drive. I am only one tiny voice…..why would they listen or care about my opinions. 🙂 So…..aren’t you glad you asked, Andrew 🙂 1 Quote Link to comment

I believe that Vw Architect is one of the Design Series products (along with Spotlight and Landmark) — so Windoor would be available to anyone with one of those 2022 Vw products (or the Design Suite which has all of the Design Series packages). _James
Windoor is available in VW Architect - I have used it this morning. Quote Link to comment
Kevin K
Well, if that is the case, I stand corrected. Thanks for qualifying rDesign. It would be a shame if the Windoor stuff was not available for everyone. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee JPowell Posted September 15, 2021 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 15, 2021 I can confirm. Windoor is available to be installed through the partner browser for users of Vectorworks Architect, Vectorworks Landmark, Vectorworks Spotlight or Vectorworks Design Suite (formerly Vectorworks Designer). Tobias Kern
Hi, thnx for the new VW 2022. I have to wait until end of october, before we, here in Germany get the new localized version. I have one question, maybe someone could investigate for me. In VW 2022 we got a enhanced wall tool with new wrappings. Got we also formulas (area, length, volume, material, separatable into horizontal an vertical wrappings because often the horizontal wrapping on the bottom inside/outside is made of different material) to calculate the data of the wrappings in tablesheets? I mean, are the wrappings only for a better visual representation, or is it more of a whole bim package? Greeting and thnx in advance! Tobi from Germany Quote Link to comment
line-weight
Is there any possibility of making the Windoor plugin available in VW2021, at least for those of us who have paid for VW2022 (eg via service select) but might choose not to start using it for real until it has been proven reliable? Markvl
I'm excited to have Windoor as it does so much more but boy it's a little harder to get my head around some of the details. Not too intuitive I find. 1 Quote Link to comment
Tobias Kern
… someone mentioned that the new wrappings don't work with WinDoor! … dunno if this is right or not. Edited September 17, 2021 by Tobias Kern Quote Link to comment

Searching ‘windoor’ on the Vw University does not bring up any results — but this link posted by @JuanP is of a training course for WinDoor: https://university.vectorworks.net/local/programview/index.php?id=17 Additionally, OzCAD (WinDoor’s deveopler) still has an extensive bunch of older WinDoor training videos on their website and YouTube channel. https://youtube.com/user/OzCADVideos http://www.ozcad.com.au/training/training-videos-windoor.php Edited September 17, 2021 by rDesign Removed incorrect info about Vw University videos 2 Quote Link to comment
Kevin K
I would most definitely rely on Julian’s tutorial videos. 1 Quote Link to comment

rDesign
Thanks @Tom W., I missed that link in @JuanP’s post. Strange that searching for ‘windoor’ on the Vw University site does not bring up that as a result. Edited September 17, 2021 by rDesign 1 Quote Link to comment
Tom W.
The University is such a pain to try + find anything! 2 Quote Link to comment
Boh
It looks like the only new video is the one @JuanP provided the link for. All the others seem to be the same as the ones on the OzCad website. Quote Link to comment
Kevin K
Yeah, Julian’s Windoor has a little different approach and options than does the native VW doors and windows, but once you wrap your brain around it, it all makes sense. i have yet to see how VW has implemented the Windoor items. MarcelP102
Can anyone test if VW2022 has the possibility to paint a part of a face by splitting it with a line for example? Or do we have to push/pull before VW recognize it as a separate paintable face? Would make adding details to a mass model easier. Edited September 17, 2021 by MarcelP102 Quote Link to comment

[Edit: clarification - it's not possible if you're looking for the two parts to remain co-planar, as Vectorworks will just re-merge them. But aside from that, you definitely CAN push/pull a face that's been split with a line/polyline, either immediately after drawing the line, or by using the third mode of the push/pull tool, and then texture them separately] Edited September 18, 2021 by Andy Broomell Quote Link to comment
bcd
Wow I had thought not, but doing some more testing I see indeed it is possible. Maybe I was running the test in VW2021 by mistake! Edited September 18, 2021 by bcd Quote Link to comment
