  2. The tool should be intelligent enough to figure out if it's being used in a 2D or 3D situation and produce the desired result. I may or may not have just wasted a few minutes trying to use the "Fillet" tool on 3D geometry.
  3. Hi, how much does memory bandwith affect performance? I'm in the process of building my new rig and I'm considering moving to a cpu with 8 channel memory support. I'm currently running a i9 14900k with dual rank, 2 channel 64gb 6400Mt/s ddr5, with a pice 4.0x4 NVME and I'm still having lagging and program lockup issues, especially when copying/pasting multiple complex symbols. Watching the system monitor when it's frozen, I will see the memory usage slowly increase, once it stops rising it will unfreeze. This leads me to believe it's my memory bottlenecking the program. If I were to make a system with single rank ram in 8 channel operation, I would theoretically x4 my bandwidth and also increase my per channel speed since it's only 1 rank per channel. If my lagging problem is due to insufficient memory bandwith, this should cut my lag times by 1/4, 300% improvement. Hopefully someone that knows how the program handles memory management and operations can give some insight into my problem. The cost would be significant to build an 8 or 12 channel system, but it would be worth it, assuming it would actually increase my performance. The real question is whether or not I will see any benefit. Does anyone have experience with quad or 8 channel memory? Does it offer any improvement? Thank you.
  4. What I think I'm asking is, you've used both Tomcat and Christie truss from the VW Library, and only the Christie was green, therefore my question was, how do we know which truss types in the library work, and which don't? Looking at your file though, even though the Tomcat truss doesn't turn green, it seems to be calculated. So I'm assuming you meant all VW library truss works for the calculations. I'll speak to the guy who "makes" our truss symbols, because I think he starts with the VW Prolyte symbols, so I'm curious where it goes wrong then. Thanks a lot!

  6. Yes, it seems like there is a record format named "Title Block Border". If you rename this format to something else everything should work fine. If you have any troubles with this, share a test file and we will look into it.
  7. Hello @Monkeypuzzle, Can you please attach a sample file showing this or some screenshots of the expected results? Best Regards, Nikolay Zhelyazkov
  8. Thats it! Thanks. I thought that it is smth dumm and simple :))
  9. This is the point - You might trust those brands, I have no reason to, so do you trust them enough that you are willing to take the hit if they on-sell or leak my information from an account I had absolutely no need for. 10. Hi @Jiajing, The math is quite convoluted, so if you can avoid it I recommend you do. There are functions that translate between Model Space (rotated plan view) and Screen Plane: ModelPt2DToScreenPt() ModelVecToScreenVec() and ScreenPtToModelPt2D() ScreenVecToModelVec() At one point I tried to figure out the differences between the function pairs, but didn't find anything so I quit looking. When I wrote scripts to work in Rotated Plan, I always used ModelVecToScreenVec() to return the screen X&Y from the model coordinates, and ScreenVecToModelVec() to change screen coordinates to model coordinates. If you need to understand the math to do the same thing, send me a PM and we chat offline. None of the basic VectorScript commands (meaning all of the Get and Set graphic commands) work directly in Rotated Plan, but if you massage the coordinates you want with the functions above, you can send the massaged numbers through the standard calls to make things look right. For some tasks it may be easier to unrotate the view, run your code, and re-rotate the view when done. Oh, I almost forgot, if the User Origin is moved, it's worse – much worse. HTH, Raymond
  11. Try to figure out the fuction to retrieve value of screen X when I retate the plan OR the math behind the screen X. Thank you
  12. @michaelk, bless you! that is amazing! perfect! thanks so much! very best, Alex
  13. Hiya, I've just been sent 2 plans of our venue's lighting rig - in a vectorworks format. I don't have Vectorworks, nor do my team, nor does anyone I know, so we can't use it. Is there any chance a kind soul in here could open these 2 files (drawings of light trusses at Heaven) & export as R14 .dwgs into the same folder? Any help would be amazing. Massive thanks, Alex https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1OLI2rTos7G_X0tEGZLra0oGnMSu1FkCR?usp=drive_link Main Room.vwx Stage Truss.vwx

  15. I've had issues with cropped DLVPS. I try not to crop them and found they worked better. Perhaps use class visibilities to remove objects from the DLVP instead? Though this technique is not without it's bugs also.
  16. That looks either like Z-fighting (where you have two objects coincident in the same plane and the rendering engine guesses back and forth which one to display, or having something too far from the origin. Check the wall that is wonky and make sure it is not duplicated. If that is not it, go to the Design Layers, make them all visible, Show/Snap/Modify other, Select All, and Fit to Objects. If you end up zooming way out, then your have an object far away from your drawing that you need to move or delete. Do a Marquee selection around each corner of the zoomed out window and see if you can get a smaller selection you can then Fit to Objects on.
  17. Repeatable error - crop a VP reference, ie: reuse the 2nd floor on 3rd floor but crop out a few bits. Switch to 3d view in shaded and it goes wonky. Screen Recording 2024-05-06 at 4.29.59 PM.mov
  18. If you've made any changes to the default settings, I would recommend taking screenshots of your VW Preferences before resetting them to make your life easier when you have to rebuild them.
  19. It sounds like you have a corrupted preference file. Go to Vectorworks Preference and click the Reset button at the bottom left. This will reset all of your preferences to the defaults, but will save your serial number. If this does not solve the problem, the next step up in forcefulness in resetting preferences is: "In Vectoroworks Preferences:User Folder pane click the Reveal in Finder button to see you user folder in the Finder. Go back to VW and quit. Rename your user folder. Restart VW. It will create a new User folder for you. Check if the problem is solved. If it is not, quit VW, delete the new user folder, and change the name back on the original folder. If the problem is solves then you have to decide what information you need to copy from the original user folder to the new one." HTH
  20. That works for the Worksheet Image, and it will be linked to the correct worksheet, but the actual editable worksheet will still need to be stored at the root level or in a Worksheet folder.
  21. Save the Worksheet as a Symbol - with the Symbol Option>Convert to Group You can save this in your Symbols' folder and Drag-Drop it onto the drawing when needed.
  22. Then I have no idea. This may be a case where it is best to get in touch with Tech Support directly.
  23. I thought you could upload a picture, although it looks like there is some conflicting info given. Anyway, I resized my certification seal to meet their pixel limits and I could not get it to work. I also tried to use the image URL method, but I couldn't get extract a URL from the seal in my university dashboard.
  24. Hi @jblock and @Matt Overton, I believe Matt is referring to our email over the weekend asking him to leave a review on G2. Matt, we appreciate you taking the time to express your concern and understand the importance of being cautious when sharing personal information with other companies. Just like other respected review platforms such as Capterra and Trust Pilot, G2 prioritizes the authenticity of reviews. To ensure this, they ask reviewers to create accounts, helping to maintain the integrity of the feedback shared. Our goal for asking customers like you to provide reviews of Vectorworks software is to help other designers hear from their peers about their software experiences and make informed decisions when evaluating Vectorworks products. We want to assure you that we read every review and report all feedback to the appropriate internal teams, whether that be engineering or customer service. If you do decide to leave a review and detail your experience with Vectorworks, here’s a link that provides details on creating an account. 25. Hello @MGuilfoile The AI Visualizer feature requires either subscription or Vectorworks Service Select. The processing is done on the Vectorworks Cloud Services servers which have a non-zero cost to them. We will edit that sentence to say subscription or Vectorworks Service Select.
