Snap cues disappear!

This has been happening to me a lot lately. I have no idea why. I have to restart Vectorworks to bring them back. Also, lots of odd screen redraw issues.

Press and hold on the tilde ~ key will temporarily suppress the snap cues.

 

Double tap on the tilde will toggle the cues on or off.

 

Could you be hitting the tilde when you are trying to hit the Escape (esc) key?

I may have stated the problem wrong since when I disable the cues it looks different than my issue, which is, I can see the mid points and end points, but I don't see the pointer cues (the cross shown in the screenshot) to snap to those points.

I had to restart Vectorworks 3 times last night to bring back my ability to grab an object by snapping to a point. There's a problem and so far I cannot determine what the cause is.

I will if it happens again. I spoke this with support on Monday and they suggested "repairing" Vectorworks using the updater and going to the Advanced settings. I did that, and so far the snapping issue and a few other issues I was seeing have not reappeared.

What boxes are checked if you double click on the Snap to Object button?

Weird cursor cue behaviors can sometimes be caused by Photoshop. Seen it in other programs than VW too, so it may not be a VW issue.

@Claes Lundstrom I don't have Photoshop. @Pat Stanford I have them all checked like you do. Keep in mind snapping works for a while, maybe a day or two, then it stops.

I did try that every time, and again the last time. They do not reappear.

Then there seems to be a bug that is effecting you and not very many other people. At least I have not seen any other posts about it.

 

Standard trouble shooting is:

Reset Preferences (Reset button at the bottom left of VW Prefs)

Run VW Updater app and choose Repair from the Advanced button on the center right.

Delete/Move User Folder

Delete and reinstall VW.

I feel that I sometimes experience this too. Snaps & their cues stop working and things return to normal when I re-start VW.

I have encountered this as well. Restarting VW (and sometimes just closing and re-opening the file) brings things back. Seems to occur after working on the file a while, with several other programs open at the same time (especially Apple Mail).

This has happened to colleagues in my office. A restart seemed to sort it out but I will ask them if it has come back.

I'm testing with 2024 update 3. I had it happen the other day, and yes, a restart always brings the cues back.

Hi @Bruce Kieffer ,

Using 2024 and I have had my acquisition points randomly disappear, perhaps since Update 3. I have toggled the above mentioned settings and the acquisition points have since returned though not sure if from settings or restarting VW.

I have Not reset Prefs as mentioned by @Pat Stanford though I might do that later on.

Annoying to say the least.

Having the same problem here. Cues disappear at times…. Then they work again a few minutes later. Kind of drives me crazy right now.

Go gettem Team VWX! this has been plaguing me for quite awhile now. MBP M1, 32 GB ram
