  2. Hi Pat, thanks for getting back to me, that is from chatGPT, I started writing my own script but then I couldn't get it to work, so I put it into chatgpt to see if it could help me fix, I stupidly deleted the conversation in chatgpt once I knew that it wasn't doing what I wanted but forgot to copy my code back from it, I should have probably just come on here instead. I understand about constants and variables, while and for loops but putting the basics together and into practice is a little more difficult. Is there any useful ways to start working with vectorscript? Attached is the extract of a few groups and a already manually completed symbol. I hope I made sense in what I am trying to ask for and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Sim test file.vwx
  3. Hello All I just upgraded to 2024 and I am wondering how to get the libraries back? Specifically I cannot find any tree libraries in the folders. I have plants but no trees? Is there somewhere I can look to find and restore this library? Thank you! Matt
  4. Your google drive has restricted access. You can also post .vwx files directly here.
  5. Thanks, that seems to have done it! It also may have fixed lots of other graphics issues, such as objects disappearing while in Edit mode or after being rotated. MH Brown
  6. Can you post a small sample file with one of your Groups and information about what objects should be in the Top/Plan view and which should be in the 3D view. It will make it much easier to help you. And did you use ChatGPT or similar to write the script? Because most of the functions you have used don't exist in Vectorscript.
  7. Today
  8. Thank you for your support and advice. I will look into creating my custom window using the Window Tool.
  9. Okay thanks for your responses. I am unfamiliar with IFC file formats but will look into it.
  10. According to the Vw2023 help file, it says that Vw2023 can import Revit 2023. Aside from that, Jeff is correct; in order to import / reference Revit 2023 files in Vw you would need to upgrade to Vw2023. If you cannot upgrade, then you're stuck with either IFC or DWG as your only other options. Vw 2023 Guide - Importing Revit No -- Revit cannot downsave to an older version. I have a 2016 MacBook Pro, and I can run both Vw2023 and 2024. But I have more VRAM (4GB) and I am not running MacOS Ventura 13. I would install Vw2023 and see if it works well enough to just import the Revit 2023 file, then downsave your .VWX to Vw2022 and continue working in Vw2022.
  11. Look at IFC and see if that will meet your needs. If so, perhaps you could ask the architects to export to that format. Otherwise, you will need to upgrade your Vectorworks to 2024 I believe in order to read Revit 2023.
  12. I am also looking to convert a Vector Works file to a .DWG. Please Help.https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1ghqpLzDlfb0eWXE7EzSia4LRXLzOmskT
  13. Post them here and someone will convert them and post them back. Or if they are confidential, you can get a 1 month subscription to VW and do the conversion yourself.
  14. I have a revit file from an architect as I will be doing the interior design drawings for the project. When I try to import the file, I get a warning saying "this version of revit file is not supported". I believe this is an issue of working with different versions of software, I am on 2022 VW and apparently they are on 2023 revit. Is there a way to save back a revit file the way we can for VW files? They have said they can't do it so just want to double check if anyone has any insight on this issue.... Is my only option to use this file updating my vw software? I don't think my computer can handle 2023 or 2024... I also have a .cad file but am just hoping to avoid having to redraw the entire structure in order to generate all my interior elevations. Thanks in advance!
  15. I have two vector works files I need converted to DWG. I do not have a Vector Works account. How do I do this?
  16. I have the same issue, but it doesn't work. I have a class assigned to my black windows - with black fill, and changed the classes in my window settings.
  17. jon Not exactly sure why you are having issues? From what I can see in your screenshot, the door jambs are a bit less wide than the wall thickness, which is no big deal. I think the main thing here is that the walls must stop at the vertical structural column/ post so you can detail/ texture that as you wish. The file attached has a version both in VW and also using Windoor in case you need see how things were configured.. Not sure if you have installed Windoor and if it is your choice for windows and doors?? I also threw in an asian vase that could be used in an interior rendering 🙂 Hopefully this is of value and resolves your issue with the folding doors. FOLDING CORNER.vwx
  18. I have this door schedule (doors with segmental arch) with cells in hidden line mode. The arch is shown as poligonal. In Wireframe mode does not look poligonal This happens just with graphic legend doors in Hidden line mode. With windows in hidden line is pretty fine. All conversion settings 3D 2D are "very high." Do you have any clue on this ? Thanks
  19. While I appreciate the adding new tool, I know that there is a way to select the tags easily with the magic wand, I need to enter on a test mode to find it out and then save it as settings. I was also trying to see if anyone was having the same issues and if so, I would create a VE for the tool, if this makes sense?
  20. you can import the textfile directly in the room data section within soundvision.
  21. If your job is generating marshmallow fluff, you should be very worried. These prompts are basically the instructions I would give an intern or rendering subcontractor to generate some mood boards to identify a direction we might go on a project. But this is typically less than 1% of the effort to execute a project. Most importantly, it is the most enjoyable part in the creative process. I don’t know why anyone would want to turn that over to a machine, unless they simply do not have the ability to generate these types of works. Big developers started making everything look the same by replicating original designs instead of making new ones. Architects started making everything similar to save time. CAD lulled people into making everything rectilinear and copy/paste architecture. AI will deliver the cyberpunk distopias we’ve grown to love in movies and novels. As people stop creating, there will be less for AI to learn from and eventually everything will just be a homogenized blob. In nature it has been said everything evolves into crabs. If controlled breeding is stopped, most dog breeds return to what we identify as the common mutt/dingo rather quickly. It’s not hard to imagine the same phenomena being observed in the creative professions. Just look at what has happened to common graphic design. All that being said, I’ll stick with doing my illustrations by hand. Not for the sake of efficiency, but for love and respect for the creative process. I’de rather have an AI that can convert my BIM model into construction drawings… that’s the place to save significant time/money and a task a soulless program would be well suited.
  22. Hello, I'm trying to create a corner bifold door with no joy. The photo is what I'm aiming at, the floor plan is as far as I've managed to get. Running VW 2024.
  23. While I'm not an architect or an expert in photography, what we mean here by "Two-Point Perspective" or "Parallelism" is achieving a similar look to those images processed by "keystone correction" or other effects to make building sides seem perfectly "vertical." Under the hood, it's an actual mathematical perspective that achieves the vertical lines natively, so you can render directly in this mode and not need to post-process your image (which can be subject to artifacting, aliasing, resolution loss, image loss at the corners, or non-uniform key-stoning).
  24. If I'm understanding correctly, the shutters are working with the Fixture Mode but not with the GDTF Fixture Mode. Would you mind telling me which Fixture Mode works and which GDTF Fixture Mode is broken? This way, we can do some internal testing. From a quick glance at the code, it would seem that GDTF Fixture Mode doesn't support Shutters in Vision. But, Fixture Mode does. So, this may explain why you are seeing what you are seeing. But, I'd like to confirm this with testing.
  25. As of yet, I have not seen VW's aim this technology at any one discipline. I think it is so new and exciting that it is hard to figure out where or even if it will land in Architecture, Landscape design, or Lighting. I don't think it is smart enough yet. But, if I was still in this game, I would be all over this. It will get smarter, and for those dismissing this technology it may be smart enough to take over their job.
