  1. Hi. After update to VW2024, i'm not able to use find and modify at all. It's just keep crashes, and close it's self without any waring. I have done a reinstall of the software without any luck. My coworker @Stefan B. dont have this issue. Any suggestions? findandmodifycrash.mp4
  2. Hi All, I'm running into a problem with the Ayrton Huracan-X Lighting device. Whenever I try to export a DWG (Top view) that contains this lighting device, Vectorworks will freeze. I have tried it with multiple files. Does anybody have the same issue with this lighting device, or could my Vectorworks library be corrupt? I am running VWX 2023 SP7 on macOS Ventura 13.3.1 Many thanks!
  3. I need to be able to have a Schematic View of a vertical lighting pipe on my design layer next to my original lighting position instance, but if I select Show Beam, it turns it on from both the original instance, and the Schematic View. Can I turn it off in just the Schematic View?
  4. I've found that any Hardscape object created in Vectorworks Landmark 2021, which is set to 3D Type: Slab and has the Slab Components Datum set to Top of component (i.e. slab extruded downwards from the Hardscape object's elevation value), has zero thickness when the .vwx file is opened in Vectorworks Landmark 2022, and the Main Area Components and Border Components buttons of that hardscape object (which you'd use to correct/adjust the thickness) don't work in the Object Info Palette or the Hardscape Settings. When the buttons are clicked the usual settings box doesn't appear. I suspect this might have something to do with the fact that in VW 2021 the Top of component option causes the 3D slab thickness to be displayed in the OIP as a negative value, whereas in VW 2022 it is displayed as a positive value (despite still being a downward/negative extrusion). Has anyone else encountered this and found a solution? I've got some big files with large numbers of hardscapes set up this way, many of them inside symbols, and it would be excellent if an update to VW 2022 would allow them to be correctly translated to the new hardscape format, retaining their thickness and the ability to edit them.

Hi all, I've been touching this somewhat now as some more people are asking for the digital files instead of PDF's and when i was trying the settings to see what fitted better i got the result shown below. For the Floor plan works wonders and looks properly as i wanted it to show. But for some reason the elevations are not showing properly, it looks like its creating a very low res image on the front of the file and obviously this is not the result i'm looking and it takes almost 15 to 20 mins. although the fine lines and high res drawing lines as the above are there but it duplicated all the drawing as a low res image for some reason. The settings i'm using are these for both of the above images. What am i doing wrong here ??
  7. Sometimes objects become unsnappable. As in, their key points are not detected by the tool I am using to edit another object. In the attached video I edit a solid and try to adjust an extrude to snap to another solid object on the layer below. As you can see from the attached video, none of the points on this solid subtraction object are detected by the snap tool, but other solid objects on the same layer are detected. I think this must be a bug, I've noticed it several times in many different projects and versions of vectorworks over the years. The only thing I can think is that there is some way to make objects invisible to the snap tool. Its quite an irritating bug as I really disrupts my train of thought trying to come up with a workaround. Also, if I am working inside an Auto Hybrid object I cannot snap to objects outside of the hybrid object group when in a 3D view, I think this also must be a bug.   8. Hello, I am having an issue with adding new attributes to my label legends. I have a fixture type that I need to add unit numbers to on my plot. I go into the label legend manager and go into edit fields for the label legend I am using for the fixture. I select the unit # attribute to use for the 2D and then I select done. If I immediately go back in and edit fields again it is still selected. When I go into edit 2D layout it is not there for me to place. When I go back into edit fields Unit # is no longer selected. I have tried making a new label legend and it does the same thing, but with any attributes I try to apply. So I am left with nothing to place. I have tried a using a different fixture type to build one, I have tried refreshing in-between selecting the attribute and going into edit it, I have tried restarting the program. It will not let me add anything to any of my label legends. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Again I am working in 2020. 20210316_075738.mp4
  9. Hello, I am drafting a section viewport and explored a bit different ways of doing it. My concern here is when we tick "merge objects with same fill". As shown in the picture bellow, some lines vanish (too many). Is it a bug or did I miss something ? How to fix this ? Second picture shows the same "detail" without ticking the box in order to help you to understand my issue.
  10. I'm having an issue with numbering instruments in spotlight. For whatever reason, the lights do not properly increment from fixture to fixture. This has happened in multiple files, so perhaps its the symbol or maybe its a bug? Regardless, I'll include a video to show whats happening. You'll see that I set the channel to increment by 1 and the dmx address to increment by its footprint, which is 17.... VW Numbering Issue.mov
  11. I'm going through the Remarkable Renderworks tutorials and have run into something odd. Bug? In the tutorial, the attribute mapping tool has this set of options - also seen here in the official help documentation: However, when I'm using it, I have nothing in the options bar. So I left the tool, and re-entered the tool and the options have 🌟magically🌟 re-appeared. It seems that if you temporarily access the flyover tool (control click) or pan tool (space bar), it removes the attribute mapping tool options. Workaround: Hitting X to go back to the select tool and then clicking back in to attribute mapping solves it.
  12. Hello everybody, please excuse if this has been posted before, I've been searching for it but didn't find anybody to have the same issue. I'm working on a massive map, which i need to export to illustrator in order to continue working. The document is fairly big with 2000*600mm on 1:5000. My issue is that, when i export it to pdf, all the lines become kind of wobbly, straight lines have dozens of curves and appear thicker than normal. The document itself is a mess, i've got it from a colleague, originally it was an illustrator document, but due to the massive size i had to convert it to dxf and edit in in vectorworks. Now i reduced the number of objects, but can't get it back to illustrator, when i export the document to dwg, illustrator wont open it (unknown format, despite me hitting "open dwg" and selecting the .dwg document) I hope i could express myself in a clear way, if anybody could help me, i'd be really happy. Sooo... this just started happening: Every time I try and make a change to my model - e.g. change an object's transparency; insert a plug-in object; etc - the line style of the WHOLE model changes to ... squiggly! See attached pics - before and after inserting a Carriage bolt. Same happens when I make some other changes. The squiggles appear regardless of different classes and layers. What have I done wrong??
  14. Hey all, For some reason a truss object that's vertical has different 2D and 3D X position. The two images are in Top/Plan and Top views, so the same perspective, but they're drastically different. Any insights on how to fix this?
  15. So I look at my LX Plan sheet layer last night and all my lamps are gone... Lamps still exist and behave normally when working in design layers, but upon playing around I realize their visibility in my sheet layer is controlled by a different class. The lamps themselves are in various classes, but all in the same design layer. I have confirmed they are still in the correct classes, which are turned on in the sheet layer. The symbols and their components themselves (including symbols within instrument symbols like S4 body) are either 'none' or 'lighting-incandescent', 'lighting-led' etc, which I have confirmed are all turned on in the sheet layer. Eventually I realize that the visibility in the sheet layer of all my missing lamps is controlled by 'POS-us truss' which is a class I made recently. Nothing in the object info indicates that any lamps are in this class. I turn the class on, save, then restart. Joy of joy, the lamps are gone again. I eventually figure out their visibility is now controlled by a completely different class, also created recently. Restarted my computer and problem persists. Creating an entirely new viewport seemed fine, but there are legends and notations in my old sheet layer I don't want to have to redo, especially if this could just happen again. When mentioned the problem to someone this morning, he mentioned having the same issue but not necessarily in sheet layers. He said he turned it on one day and the problem went away, but that just leaves me with hoping this problem is magically fixed - somehow, someday. For what it's worth the other guy is a Mac user and I am on Windows 10. Anyone else have this/know the cause or solution?
  16. There seems to be some sort of selection/snap highlighting issue with Camera based SLVP in VW2017. I've been seeing it in files I've brought forward and I am able to duplicate it in a clean file built in VW2017. What I'm seeing is the dashed grey highlight lines are often offset from the geometry they are highlighting. In the attached file it occurs as per this image and also when you mouse over the hidden crop object. The offset seems to vary depending upon where the viewport is on the sheet. As far as I can tell it only happens with Camera based (or maybe perspective based) viewports. Kevin Highlighting Issue.vwx
  17. When set to By Object Class, the correct texture displays in the OIP and Edit Style dialogue, but the rendering remains linked to the By Component class texture.
  18. Hi everyone. I wonder if the following is a bug. When working on a shared project, despite of diligent save and commit / close and release / refresh usage, we find the following: If someone duplicates a sheet layer, or changes the name of a sheet layer, the project management somehow cannot keep track of this - the sheet layer numbers and names don't match anymore. Please see the screenshot below. The highlighted area indicates where the numbers and names are wrong. It's not in English but one can see the difference. Trying to update, reopen etc. will not solve the issue. This particular project is not using automated title blocks/drawing coordination, but simple hand-written sheet numbers and names. The only thing that puts the project sharing sheet list back on track is temporarily saving the project as .vwx file and the re-sharing it.
  19. The reshape tool used to be able to be used on call outs but it now seems to have no impact. Bug or no longer a method to use?
  20. I can crash VW2017 on my system every time by moving and object from one layer to another via the OIP. This is happening with 3D objects in files picked up from 2016. To test, I made a new 2017 document, made two layers, drew a rectangle on one, and when I change it's layer via OIP, instant crash. So what exactly is the best way to report this with system and OS specs to tech? Thanks, e.

    Resource Manager

    In the new Resource Manager I note that you cannot hold down the shift key to select multiple items which is a feature of Finder in the MAC OS. Is this a bug or intentional. I am using Yosemite.
  22. Often when I'm editing polyline shapes I turn off all snaps so they don't influence organic curves. In VW2017 there seems to be a mild tendency when editing a point for it to snap back to its initial handle position or other surrounding handles. This mild snapping becomes more pronounced as you zoom out further. It also creates a small crosshair at the cursor when you cross over other polyline points. I can see how this could be helpful in some instances but when there are no icons selected in the snapping palette there should be no snapping. The behaviour is different when I use ` to suspend snapping so there's definitely some sort of secret snapping occurring. I'm not that interested in holding down the ` key for an hour while I do fine tuning of a complex polyline. Can someone else confirm this behaviour? Thanks, Kevin
