  1. Hallo, ich use Vectorworks in english and german vision. In german vision, Vectorworks can convert line drawing into hatch. i can't find it in english vision. Why is that? for example: is it possible to create hatch from line drawing instead of those levels in the hatch editor except using tile?

    Floor Hatch in TopPlan?

Hello, I have a graphic representation problem. I would like to show the plan in TopPlan view in order to see the wall detail (default at wireframe) (image 1) However, I'd also like to show the hatch of the floor finish below. (image 2) Is there anyway to achieve this in a single viewport without layering by using the background/foreground options? So far I have not found an answer. Any ideas?
  3. Hello, When I make an object a 2D symbol, the hatch I have it filled with is not visible unless I am editing the symbol. When I click out of the edit mode, the hatch reads as a white fill. What is happening here? It just started doing it. I have VW 2018. Thanks, Brittany
  4. Hi all, Would it be possible for any Masters in VW to help me with this, please? I have a brick texture to which I have also attached a hatch line to work on hidden line, In walls is working fine but when I apply this texture to a column it turns the Hatch vertically but the texture is horizontal as it should. Is there a way to turn the hatch to the correct position without creating a new texture to edit the hatch alone? See attached pictures for reference,
  5. Hi, I am creating a legend for the different hatches I am using in my site plans, and can not seem to find the Field definition for the hatch names. Anybody as an idea where to find it?
  6. I am proposing two additional functionalities for Advanced Section Properties: 1) Hatch Style Assignment for Objects where none are assigned. When selecting "Use Attributes of Original Objects" in Attributes of Advanced Properties - allow assignment of a section style to any objects that have not been assigned a section style. In attached screen grab I've assigned materials to glass and aluminum of windows. The column tool was used and displays a hatch. But the pipe extrusion I've drawn (and pointed to in purple) I have not assigned a material or a class and so it appears white, or without a hatch. I would like the ability to assign a default hatch to any non assigned objects. 2) Scale Hatch In a top plan viewport you are able to scale not only line type and weight but also hatch style. When Sectioning the Hatch Scale does not appear in Advanced Properties Display options. This is critical as hatches, especially in a full size detail, can become very tight and need to be scaled. Choosing an appropriate hatch for the object can work well for one scaled viewport but not another and should be adjustable for each viewport.
  7. Hi, I'm setting up an office standard using Standard Naming. The reason I am choosing to use this as opposed to using a template file with common classes and resources is that I want to bring old project files up to date with my new standard. I also anticipate tweaking the standard and like being able to force any changes across multiple projects. I have edited the ClassNameStds worksheet to add new names and I'm editing the attributes in the Standard Naming Dialog. So far so good. The attributes I can set in Standard Naming are Line, Line Weight, Line type. Fill can be set to only None, Fill, and Pattern but not Hatch. Since I do use hatches, I could apply the standard, and then manually add hatches to certain classes. If I apply the Standard again though, it wipes out the hatches I have set. It does this regardless of whether I tick the 'Use at creation' box. Is there a way to use Standard Naming and still have hatches applied to some classes? Thanks!
  8. Hello, everyone - For years now, I've been using the "Stone_Cad_Hatches" hatches referenced in this post: I really like these hatches but have found that many of my favorites tend to bog down my files if they are applied on a relatively large area - a simple house elevation, for example. I suspect this is because the hatches are made using MANY levels. SSTNWSB, for example, has 1001 levels! Zooming in and out and panning becomes nearly impossible. I've searched and searched for alternate stone hatches and haven't found any that are close to as nice looking. Can any of you share additional stone hatches or point me toward any that look decent but are more practical? Thanks - Doug
  9. Hi everyone, I've an error when I export from the Sheet Layer a plan the surface hatch doesn't appear like it should, in the viewport it shows correctly but when I export it the scale of the hatch change (only ocurring with one slab the other slab looks good). A week before I exported it and all was looking good, I have updated the graphics card driver don't know if this might be part of the problem. Here I send some pictures (first picture viewport from vectorworks, second picture exported PDF).
  10. Hello, Is there any way that you can adjust the dispersion range/hatch associated with a speaker object so that it is bound within the walls of a room it is placed in? I am creating a number of neighbouring rooms with ceiling speakers, but don't want a the dispersion hatch/range of the neighbouring room interfering/overlapping my other rooms. Any ideas welcome, Thanks R
  11. Hi all, I'm new to spotlight so forgive me if this is a simple question. How can I change the appearance of the dispersion range? I'd like to change the hatch pattern for starters. Will this change be applied to all speakers in my drawing or do I need to apply it separately to multiple same or different types. thanks, R
  12. Hi, I want to create a similar hatch/tile patten, can anyone help with a best practice to achieve it? , Thanks, Rishie

    Creating Hatches in 2017

Does VW offer a way to create a hatch of say standard running bond brick that also shows the mortar joint width? I dont want to use a "tile" to create this as i want it to be line work and not a graphic representation of linework. ... (hatching by using "tiles" is pretty awful, btw.) Another question is why oh why is the hatch creation tool in the resource manager so archaic? Why cant i just draw what i want the hatch to look like in that window? Why am i restrained so extensively by being forced to use the convoluted hatch creation "tool?" I feel like im trying to perform a complicated surgery with a baseball bat. Thanks for your help / listening to my rant.
  14. When creating or duplicating a class that contains a hatch I may sometimes need a different hatch or the same hatch in a different colour. When duplicating a class it would require the hatch to be created first, and ditto for creating a new class. It would be nice if the hatch option of the fill settings would contain a "create new hatch" and "edit current hatch" options so that one can create a new hatch on the fly instead of either 1. Create/duplicate a class, then create a hatch, then edit the class properties and edit the fill options. 2. Create a hatch first, then create/duplicate a class and if the hatch is not right then exit edit, create/change hatch and edit class properties again.
  15. Hi all, I would like to know if there is another way of fixing and using the hatch scale. When i draw a rectangle and i assign a hatch with a specific pattern (squares for example) in the design layer, when i create a viewport and assign a specific scale that pattern goes completely off course and doesn't show with the same effect as it does on the design layer. What i have been doing is changing the scale of the pattern in the hatch properties figure by figure until i find the one that approximately matches what i'm looking for, but i think there must be a better way of doing this, i hope! Anyone knows?
  16. The hatch editing is to be kind gangly and hard to use. Still, it does allow some fairly complex hatches to be made by people with patience far exceeding mine. Maybe that is the problem as 90% of the hatches we use are fair simple in set up and follow some basic patterns. We need to adjust these all the time in many projects. i.e. Herringbone is always far harder to get right and breaks very quickly from the origin if not accurate. Could there be a simpler version of hatches that say can be built with a couple of simple settings? So all the standard tile patterns would just need us to set tile length and width and boom accurate hatch ready to use. Maybe they could be driven by a Python script.
  17. When I try to export my drawing as a PDF it does not come out fully and I'm not sure why. Attached below is what it looks like in Vectorworks and what it looks like after being exported as a PDF. Also the part of the drawing that did not come out is a hatch if that helps

    Hatch Scaling

I have complete control over the hatch scale but neither hatch control tool or attribute control box does anything to hatches in structural shapes, scaling the drawing doesnt change either. Is there a solution to this without "exploding" the parametric object?
  19. It would be great if there were a way to quickly align hatches to objects. As landscape architects, we are constantly using hatches to represent paving patterns where directionality is key. It is very cumbersome to manually control the alignment of hatches using the Attribute Mapping Tool. Instead, it would be amazing if there were a way to align hatches to the longest edge or some other auto-align feature, similar to the auto-align features present with mapping rendering textures. Often they are one and the same, so it would be even better if aligning one (either texture or hatch) would align the other.
  20. as shown in the attachment, the vertical hatch is not rendering out completely leaving a blank white space. I tried changing the wall style and surface hatch components but nothing is working. is there anyway to correct this?

  22. Hi, I have a 1/3 brick hatch pattern but I need to change the brick size to 305mmx100mm. I'm really struggling to understand the hatch editor (and the tile editor for that matter!). Can anyone walk me through it? I'll attach the file with my existing hatch below. Thanks! Emilie One third brick bond.vwx
  23. I would like the option to have hatch colours use the pen attribute of the object or class they are assigned to rather in the same way that renderworks textures can. It follows then that the background colour of a hatch could take the fill colour as well.
