  1. Check to see if the Class is overriding your changes... or that the Class attributes is active.
  2. As I recall... the HP500 Driver supports both Vector & Raster Page Imaging. Depending on the RAM installed, DPI, page-size, and whether or not you are using any colors. There's also an option for printing from memory or spool file. When a print job stalls for some reason or other... our first instinct is to "try again... and again ... " . The result can be print queue stacking in the printer spool directory. Then the only option is to clean out the print spool directory prior to printing. The HP500 is a very powerful plotter with many options ... the configuration can be tricky. Start with Black&White , vector, from RAM ... then try spool and finally Raster Image. Configurations are best set from within the HP Driver itself.

  4. hear ... hear ... well said ..." expedite the creation of the instruments of service "'' brilliant ! Imagine if the concert pianist was expected to send along his piano with the CD ... or BB King his guitar ...
  5. The need for OWSJ has existed forever... so has modeling them based on the manufacturers specs. A proven basic approach: 1) ExtrudeAlongPath for the Top/Bot chords and connectors ( this allows editing the profiles & lengths for different sizes ). 2) Place 3dLoci at the ends or centerline of beams for registration. 3) Punched out polygon extrusion for the web or ExtrudeAlongPath if there are round bars. Creating a library with joist symbols for each type & rating is straight forward. Then duplicate and modify for the various lengths, as req'd. Class assignments aid in the management of the resources. Fun and easy to accomplish ... no special tools or knowledge is required.

    Try importing just the basic survey datum, and then use VW to generate the 'clean' DTM.
  7. Wouldn't just be so much easier to send the PDF's ? The Client could just as easily install the VW Viewer ... to look at your work.
  8. Good point ! both 'robot.txt' and '.htaccess' could conceivably limit page access for those pernicious bots. Keeping in mind that the profile records exist within the SQL ...it's also possible to prevent access to the various private data fields.
  9. All experienced Users have evolved various 'error recognition & correction' techniques to mitigate workflow chaos. In fact, the list of possibilities is probably endless ... perhaps .. then .. it's time for NNA to acknowledge the need for a suite of Recording-Actions-History Procedures to help out a little now that VW has become so darn powerful ( some would say peculiar ) & complicated ( some would say confusing ) to use.
  10. It prints using a raster image .. not the scalable fonts based on bezier curves. You still have the font problem . Try using the FontBook app. to analyze your fonts. A common problem is older fonts with the same name loading instead of the newer OS friendly fonts. Eliminating all the duplicate older fonts can work magic. Recall also that different Type foundries provide similar font styles described using different algorithms which may or may not be compatible with your system. Check your System & User Libraries to locate the available fonts. As for PDF... try sticking with the Adobe Type Library.

  12. It's important to note that Working Planes are specific to an object for the purpose of editing that object in a normal plane regardless of the objects actual spatial orientation. The Working Planes are not designed for navigating within XYZ space. For example, a truncated 3D poly may be difficult to edit from any of the Standard Views. But separate saved Working Planes can be created from each of the truncations. This facilitates the editing of the faces by providing the advantages of a normal flat plane. When the editing is complete, the User should return to the standard Ground Plane via Top view. Here are some examples of the Working Planes of the Isotropic Vector Matrix: http://www.fractalnet.org/gallery2/v/IVM/Ster_IVM/
  13. The standard views, eg. Front, Rightside, Right Isometric, etc. are described by specific rotations around the XYZ GroundPlane. When the User creates a Working Plane within the IJK space ( created by the 3 point selection method ), the XYZ GroundPlane rotational descriptors no longer apply. Then the Working Plane palette is utilized to switch between the various coordinate viewing options. While in the Working Plane container, the GroundPlane is shown for reference, only... but ignored until the active Working Plane is switched back to the standard views for the GroundPlane.
  14. Working Planes are calculated using the Rotation Matrix: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotation_matrix

  16. When editing the 3d NURBS Path ... keep in mind that the curvature twists based on the bezier Z nodes. The result is the NURBS Profile rotating around the XYZ curve. The simplest approach with polygonal profiles is to utilize a flat XY Path.
  17. Choose a codec for the specific purpose in mind .. whether it be streaming or a dedicated local presentation. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_codec
  18. Try changing the Page Set-up to a larger size...
  19. The script to use includes "INSYMBOL & INOBJECT & INVIEWPORT" ... just replace the 'Arial' with your FontName.
  20. Did you assign a unique Class to the text ? { DSelectAll; SelectObj(INSYMBOL & INOBJECT & INVIEWPORT & (C='FontClassTest'));; } If ,yes, then use the selection by Class to make a global change. If not then you will need to select by the FontID: { DSelectAll; SelectObj(INSYMBOL & INOBJECT & INVIEWPORT & (FOT='Arial')); }
  21. Before you go jumping offa bridge without your bungee ... why not try posting the file for others to try rendering. Could just be that a configuration/parameter setting is causing the problems. I'll bet that it's something simple ... like what is the sheet size for that 300dpi image. Or have you tried using jpg instead of bmp. Do you really need multiple lights... if so, then how are they configured ? What is the polygonal resolution ? $5400 is a lot to spend ... when lower priced systems will the best processor, sufficient RAM , HD and OS will do just fine.
  22. This behavior also occurs after a prolonged work session with multiple sleep/wake cycles. A quit/relaunch of VW always manages to right the boat.
