  1. Hi Phil, If the problem happens again, check to see if the symbol is 2D, 3D, or 2D/3D (hybrid). When you select the symbol in the document, the type of symbol will be displayed at the top of the Obj Info palette. If it is a hybrid symbol, you will not see anything in the 3D component when in Top Plan view. It sounds like something unnoticeable became part of the 2D component of the symbol. It could be something in a class that has been turned off.
  2. I see no way for users to add additional shapes. The Structural Member's Steel Shape dialog looks identical to that of the Framing Member object. Since the Structural Member is intended to be used in other configurations (i.e.: columns), it should have access to those additional shapes. I'll enter a bug report for this... Bug reported: VB-136974: Structural Member: Steel shape choices need to include all available shapes currently available in Steel Shape detailing objects.
  3. Bug reported: VB-136946: Edit Wall, Slab or Roof Style: "Replace IFC Data" option misleading
  4. Hi Josh, I've used similar approaches as well. One thing I'd look at is way to trim out necessary geometry in the master plan file. Are there any unnecessary classes that you can turn off in the reference viewports? If you're only needing the exterior shells, turning off plumbing fixtures, millwork, interior stairs, etc. (in the reference viewports) can make a world of difference.
  5. Selecting "Replace IFC Data" when saving the wall style will update all walls using that wall style in the document. While this may not be an obvious option, the Mark value is also stored in the IFC data. Perhaps the "Replace IFC Data" checkbox should be reworded to better reflect everything that it's doing.
  6. Hi Pete, As Alan illustrates, using the slab to mask the stair works well. Creating a separate mask (rectangle with white fill and line) also works but gives you more to mange when making revisions. As you mention, however, there are other situations in VW where masking an artifact is easier than trying to do otherwise.
  7. Hi Johan, How many detail viewports are there? Are all of them not updating? Have you duplicated any of the detail viewports? From what I understand, the detail callout can only be associated with on detail viewport. This means duplicating the detail viewport will disassociate it from the callout (and the viewport). However, you can duplicate a detail callout and run the "Create Detail Viewport" command (with the callout selected) and a new detail viewport will be created for that callout.
  8. It's the bottom tread that is the issue.
  9. Thank you for sending the file. I can now reproduce. Bug submitted.
  10. Understood. We'll do what we can to get this fixed soon.
  11. OK. I see this now. Bug report going in! Thanks!
  12. If you normally display the layer containing the floor slab in your plan drawings, you could place the stair on the same layer as the slab and send it below the slab. This allows you to see the stair only through the opening in the slab.
  13. I have not seen this. What version of Vectorworks are you using? Does this happen in all files (even a newly created one)?
  14. Hi Jeremiah, I cannot reproduce this. Does this happen in a new file created in VW 2017? Can you send me a file demonstrating this? Thanks
  15. Hi Kevin, Thanks for bringing this to our attention! I looked into this and see that it is a known issue. A bug report has already been filed on this. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.
  16. Tom, Try Convert to Group, then Ungroup. I believe that is the previous VW behavior as well.
  17. What version of Vectorworks are you using? Vectorworks 2017 introduced Door andWindow Styles. I believe that might help make things easier. If you'd like to actually change the trim sizes in the default content, you could create a script to set them for you. What I would do is this: Go to your Vectorworks User folder. You can do this by opening the VW Preferences, going to the User Folders tab and clicking on the "Reveal in Finder" button (Mac) or "Browse" (Windows). Find the files (in the Libraries/Defaults folder) you'd like to make changes to. Copy, rename and place the files in the Libraries/Favorites folder Open each file, run a script to set the trim sizes and save. When your done, the doors will be available as a favorite in your resource manager. So the only thing missing is the script. I'll see what I can do as time permits. If anyone wants to beat me to it, feel free to do so. ;-)
  18. Yes, these are both separate known issues. I just linked this thread to the bug report for the dashed hidden line problem. It needed a little bump. ;-)
  19. That's not easy to answer. ;-) First, it needs to be determined that it IS in fact a bug. while it seems obvious that it is a bug, there could be some sort of file corruption (or something else) causing it. Since this is a file specific problem, this could be the case. If it is the case, I'll see if we can come up with any tricks to fix files that have the problem. If it is determined to be a bug, I still cannot offer any sort of ETA. Some bugs that seem like they should have an easy fix can wind up taking a very long time (and vise versa).
  20. @marioqi, please send me a file demonstrating this. If a new file does this for you, place a rectangle in it and send it to me. This will allow me to see the document settings. Thanks.
  21. Understood. Some sort of "flatten" on PDF exports would be nice. Wish submitted...
  22. Have you tried setting the viewport background render to Dashed Hidden Line and the foreground render to Hidden Line? Won't this give you what you need? Nevertheless, it should do what your asking using ONLY Dashed Hidden Line. -Matt
  23. CORRECTION: I jumped the gun on this. The features I'm talking about are for bitmap objects in Vectorworks. Apologies... -Matt (in need of more coffee) Panzer
  24. Implemented! :-) In VW 2017 you have a couple options to help reduce file size: 1. Select a cropped bitmap object, click on the "Delete Outside Crop" button in the Obj Info palette. 2. There's also an "Image Attributes" button (in the Obj Info palette) allowing you to change image compression and resolution of bitmap objects.
