  1. Yes I have found this also. Also if you use no falloff and realistic you get different levels of intensity, matter of testing till you get it right for you.
  2. That's a nice trick to know the export zip file! When I open this it all seems to be drawn rather than coming straight from a VW generated file like records create window schedule. What you have drawn is the way we do it at our office but I think we are asking VW to re work the system to allow us to generate what you have show with a little more automation. Nice work though.
  3. If you do it a lot this VW add on program is supposed to be great. http://d3ob7bbij4qj54.cloudfront.net/interiorcad/VectorWorks_interiorcad_Brochure.pdf Other wise yes, what level of detail do you wan to do it to. For special items I work in the horizontal mode to create my pieces then extrude up all and out it together exactly the way it will be built that way you can see the issues that may arise when a joiner tries to build it.
  4. This is nicely done. How did you put the pieces together in your drawing? For a Noob like me what is DAP? Ah , Duplicate along path, Great, thanks for showing that, can do it now thanks to you. You da MAN
  5. Hi, Am not using glow texture only an area light will post image
  6. You can do this be using area lights. Create your text and Duplicate and extrude one and convert the other to polylines and then you can convert this to an area light. Extrude the other one and sit it directly behind the extruded text. Push your area light up to about 3500 lux and render in final quality renderworks to get the effect. HTH
  7. True for a Mac user but for a PC user ctrl+d = duplicate in place.
  8. This is a great piece of free software rather than printing from VW direct we publish pdf and then drag them all to this and they spool very quickly to the printers. From VW the prints seem to hang for a wile and take ages to get to the printer.
  9. Past an image or the VW file please.
  10. If you click on render bitmap and then the Render bitmap preferences tool at top left of screen you have the option to render in a all the different modes. I agree with above, I get the best results form the viewport rendering for final images.
  11. If you go Model Add Solids you get one item and to go back you just double click on the solid and you get back to solid addition and you can edit the roof faces again then exit out of Solid Addition.
  12. Its just Ctl+D in 2015 and you change the setting in VW preferences ofest duplications to offset or not.
  13. Yes, I have been told that certain lights wont render in openGL mode so you need to render in other. These include line lights etc.
  14. Hi, if you set all your pen weights first you can get a nice clean 3d rendering and you don't need to convert but only work over it a bit in annotations. The following series of images shows the light penweights for the window components and the next the walls and the result. Also one shows the annotation work which is little. These are for Council so they needed to be hidden line. HTH
  15. Hi, You mentioned that "It does not include light from reflections". The attached image has 1 spotlight shining up at a surface that is reflective and you can see the diffuse shadow of the centre object on the surface below. This light is reflected down providing the shadow. This light has realistic falloff. Open for discussion as to whether this works or not.
  16. you can click on each window and go AEC and create windoor Elevation and it will create an elevation that you can put in a row and then dimension them, or you can crop viewports of the windows and place them in a row that way they will always be the actual windows. but this is what you are doing, are they manually drawn of form the 3D model? Must be a better way but at least you don't have to draw them again. We normally have them like you show on a sheet.
  17. Hi, I think there is something in your file causing problems so i copied parts over to a new drawing and got the following results without changing anything. I think I copied all the parts over except the bits outside the room. Couldn't see what was causing the problem but after i copied the items over the colour started to show immediately and i have not altered any settings only started an new drawing and copied over bit by bit. See if this is ok??
  18. All looks good on a powerful computer but I am sure if you try to rotate on a smaller computer in the render mode (Fast Render mode) that the file is set to when I opened it there will be some lag till your graphics card catches up. Does the blank spots occur in openGl when rotating?? This will tell you.
  19. You haven't got you design layers set to active only have you??
  20. Try this movie maybe it will answer your question.
  21. Is it the ceiling line class from the walls?? This is a class that you turn on to see the door head when doing a ceiling plan. To find out what it is you explode the complete door detail and look at what all the pieces are and you will find the offending item.
  22. If you use the Property line tool and select bearing this should be set to N 0°00'00" E, so the first line you type without changing any angle will be north. you use angles relative to north as per the survey. Just leave the N & E as is and just type in the angle and distance, so going east will be N 90°00'00" E south will be N 180°00'00" E etc
  23. Hi, You import the Class, Design layer or sheet layer from other drawings into a blank document or any VW document. You have the option to just import the Class, Design layer or sheet layer with just the names or with everything on that Class, Design layer or sheet layer. Click on the Organization Pallet and choose new and click choose and you browse to a drawing and select the Class, Design layer or sheet layer you want to import,. Tick import layer objects if you want the information off that Class, Design layer or sheet layer. And done. Hope this is what you were after?
  24. Oh, Yea now I see what the question related to. You have a keen eye.
