  1. Morning. I have done some digging this morning and I cannot see a way to do this. I see in the lighting Device plugin the default for 'turn on' is 100 so that when the instrument is placed it defaults to 'On' I kind of like this behaviour because after insertion I can then focus the light, see the results and hen turn it off, but I understand sometimes you want to quickly add lights without immediately focusing them. I will add this to the enhancement requests. Meanwhile the visualisation palate has a selected viewport check box but understand that the workflow could be more efficient.
  2. Hey Max, this is a workflow on the feature request list, I have emailed you a temporary solution but anyone else stumbling across this forum thread should also watch the Mark Doubleday Webinar on the Vectorworks University.
  3. @pgreen Use Spotlight Symbol Maintenance and the resource manager to look for errors.
  4. You can also change the Seating from standard to curved which might also be what you are after? This might help, https://university.vectorworks.net/mod/page/view.php?id=168
  5. To offset the rows change the row spacing field. You can change this measurement from back leg to front leg or front leg to front leg in the seating tool preferences.
  6. Hi Martin, Apologies only just seen this, can you post the file?
  7. This only seems to be affecting a very small number of users for a variety of reasons. Please get in touch with tech support in your region and submit your files. your help is greatly appreciated.
  8. Pat is correct, if you didn’t want them to retain their height then you could use the move 3D command.
  9. Hi Kevin, Please can you post a screenshot of your system hardware inc graphics card, We will open a case in the UK tech support queue. Best wishes Tom W
  10. Just to clarify it is a referenced layer not a view, and providing the reference is cached Lightwright will treat them as if they are actually in the file (I think but untested). Tagging the referenced layers is a great idea and will help with filters. In terms of relabelling your organisation Don't forget to use Tools - Batch Rename to do this don't do it individually! Interestingly maybe Data visualisation could help with this? Not sure how but you might find it interesting that data visualisations can be saved within a saved view. This could be worth exploring! In my past life as head of lighting at a Repertory Opera Festival we would have used data visualisation to show us what light is used in which of the Opera's All the best Tom W
  11. Jesse is correct, The other solution is to reference the layers and get the client to delete the ones they don't want.
  12. Yes when two solids occupy the same space you will see that distortion. A subtract solids command should stop that from happening.
  13. Hi Symo Yes I saw the same issue, I think there was an issue with the particular lighting device you had inserted (I don't know why this happened just one of those unexplained things, I am keeping my eye on it). Basically if it happens again go into the resource manager and import a fresh version of that lighting instrument and overwrite the one you have. This will overwrite the one in the current document. I have also put in a black and white open GL rendering to see what you think as it is much faster to update than hidden line. It is attached! All the best Tom W Light_Render_Issue.vwx
  14. OK so they both need to be either an extrude or a solid they must not be a group or symbol.. Try converting them to a solid first and then try the subtract command. If they are both solids try checking the box hat says retain and see if you can remove the piece you are looking for. You should also have a look in the 3d power pack menu as there will likely be a command in their which should work.
  15. Hi Symo does this happen in any other render modes? Can you post the file or those two elements in a new blank file all the best Tom w
  16. Hi djobbins Yes the current tag and worksheet solutions are not available because they require a symbol or plugin object that has data associated to be able to extract that information. The photometer in this case is the extracted information.Based on the candela value and the distance from/within the draw beam graphic. It also calculates Field and beam angle. It would be great to get some idea of how you would like to view this data, we have looked at Dialux and lighting analysts solutions but it would be great to facilitate this workflow directly within VW, Any comments added here I will add to the feature request.
  17. https://university.vectorworks.net/mod/page/view.php?id=649 This one is probably the most help, watch from 23 minutes in. All the best Tom w
  18. Hi Lee. The camera view is a way to create a viewport, you need to do this on a particular sheet where you can also specify the dpi. If you export directly from the workspace it's only a DPI of 72. I will pass your comments on about the help. Just for your info this workflow is covered on the vectorworks university where a lot of the training content is free at present. You can export the sheet layers as images, you can also use saved sets and export options for this. Or use the Export image command when the sheet layer view is active. Export Panorama is great and can be rendered with cloud services I have a series of saved views I trigger to begin each export. It can be used on any software which can read a panoramic image but cloud services and the cloud app is useful if your client doesn't have access to this. You can also create interactive presentations using the cloud services tools in a web browser. Hope that helps.
  19. Hi Pier, No you can attach lights to pre-existing raked trusses, in a 3d view you can snap a light to a raked truss. However I find it much easier to create these exactly how I used to in real life in my previous career. Then once assembled, flown and rotated into position.
  20. Yes, like the Spotlight Find and Modify Command only implemented for connectCAD devices, a good idea I will request it.
  21. Hi Kevin you can do this with a custom selection script! to find a device on the design layer (not in worksheet).
  22. Multiple data visualisation could be triggered via a saved view which might help?
  23. You would need to try it, Apparently Mosiac Designer does output ArtNET so in theory yes.
  24. I would recommend some of our essentials sessions which are currently free and would cover all you need to get started in a few hours. https://www.vectorworks.net/events/training
  25. In the OIP select system objects will update the weight displayed in the OIP. Or you can make your truss objects a single hanging position if you wish.
