  1. Yes, confirming that it only crashes on this file. New files created from my template seem to be ok. Thanks for your input Wes.
  2. If you want the text and or dimensions visible in more than one viewport then they will need to go on a design layer. A feature of VW that I don’t think auticad has is Design Layer Scale. You can edit your design layers to each have their own scale. This will set page based annotations such as text, dimensions, line styles etc at a “normal” size. As a rule of thumb it’s best to set your design layer scale the same as the scale of the main sheet layer viewports. In your project you cld try setting the DL scale at 1:500. This will make say 12pt text appear the same size on your DL as it would if it was placed in your 1:500 viewport annotation.
  3. Thanks Wes. Might be a document specific problem. I’ll. Test it out when I’m back at my computer.
  4. Anyone else found that when a Floor object is in a Section VP then VW will crash when you try and update the Viewport? Is this a know bug? Ive just updated to the latest service pack of VW 2019. I hardly use the floor tool, tend to use slabs, but saw in one of @Jonathan Pickup ‘s recent webinars him use it as a quick hybrid 3D object for benches and thought that’s a great idea!
  5. Could be related to the dodgey "Leader Attributes" settings on the OIP (seperate post on forum). I didn't get the ghosting but had the weird edit attributes highlighting come on after editing the callout. Double clicking on the vertex setting in the OIP seems to help get rid of the prob. Not sure it will sort the ghosting however. 2019-07-17 09-58-42.mp4
  6. Design layer scales are confusing and a bit of a misnomer. Your drawing won't have physically moved or "scaled" (i.e. changed size), it's just the page based title blocks and the page size which have changed size relative to your world based drawing. Page based symbols such as your title blocks will change size when you change the DL scale so that they stay the same size relative to your page. The effect is that it looks like your drawing has moved but it is actually in the same place and the same size. A think a better set up for drawing files is using sheet layers and viewports. The title blocks are on sheet layers rather than on design layers and instead of using saved views of each drawing page your drawing is viewported onto sheet layers. Viewport scales, class visibilities and much more can be adjusted however you want and are independant of design layer scales without effecting your page/ titleblock set up. This way the DL scale is used only to standardise the appearance of things like lineweights, markers, text size etc across your file which may have many design layers at different scales.
  7. Diving deeper - were they created from templates which were originally created in a previous version? I occasionally get the issue with callouts not picking up the by-class fill. Seems toggling to another colour (not the by-class colour) and then back to by-class seems to work. If you want to post a copy of a file happy to have a quick look on my machine. I think callouts definitely need some love. There are issues with drop shadows too - not to mention linking to notes databases...
  8. Is it just that file or any file? If the file(s)were created in a previous version of Vw then maybe that’s the reason? just guessing here but try it on a native new default vw file.
  9. So I'm finally on vw2019 (sp3) and working with spaces and yes running into this issue where ceiling finish info is available from a database but not floor, wall or baseboard info. I have found though that the issue is only when trying to assign room finishes from a worksheet. It does work via the OIP when selecting a space object. Does this suggest it is a "worksheet" issue rather than a "space object" issue? See short vid. Has anyone else got anymore wisdom to share on this? It is quite an important part of how we work. I spent some time a year or so ago setting up custom room finishes I could access via two-way finishes worksheets and have used it succesfully (with a few workarounds) until now. The beauty of the worksheet is that you can quickly do global editing and checking of room finishes. Having to select space objects and do it via the OIP is workable for small projects but will get really slow with larger projects with lots of rooms. I would really like to keep using this system. I like how all the custom finishes can be held on a server and accessible for everybody and they are easy to edit and keep up to date. However if the two-way finish schedule can't be used then it will not be efficient to use on large projects. 2019-07-16 10-52-25.mp4
  10. You can do something a bit similar using class overides (not layer overides). For it to work though you need to make sure the objects in the classes you want to overide are using "by-class" attributes (this probably includes the class settings inside any wall styles components whose fill colour you want to change), and "Use Attributes of Original Objects" needs to be checked in the Advanced Section Properties dialogue. In this screen shot I overrode the fill attributes of some walls to a demo hatch. I don't work this way so it may need a bit more playing around with as there are likely other hiccups I'm not aware of. For my work I tend to just do demo plans (not sections/elevations) - so this work can just be in 2d. I will often just use an existing floor plan in a viewport and lay over a red demo hatch in the annotations to indicate objects to be removed. This is super simple and usually sufficient for most demo contractors to price from.
  11. If all the objects are on the same layer and all you want to do is move them closer to the centre of your page then this is a really quick way to do that. (Make sure all classes are on and nothing is locked). 2019-07-15 18-29-15.mp4
  12. Hi Mickey, I had a quick look and unfortunately I'm as confused by this as you are. Everything you say is correct. I ran a worksheet on the file that searches for all objects in a specified class and it confirms that there are no objects in the file with that class. Maybe some vw expert can shed some light on this? All that said though it seems harmless and deleting the class doesn't seem to impact on the file at all.
  13. The light objects? You can adjust their display settings in the vw preferences.
  14. At the bottom of the attributes palette there is an option to remove attributes by class of whatever is selected. It probably won’t work for classes embedded in groups or symbols or walls styles etc but should do everything else. Hope that helps!
  15. In vw preferences make sure your folder location is correct. The last folder name in the address should be the folder that contains the “Libraries” folder. In your case it should end with the “VW Workgroup folder” To add content to a workgroup folder the easiest way I guess is to copy the folders of your user folder into the equivalent location of your workgroup folder. Remove any content from your user folders that you don’t want shared in your workgroup. With user data folders I think in the resource manager you can simply drop a resource into an empty libraries folder and vw will automatically create a file in that folder which will be accessible as default content. Hope fully that is the case for workgroup folders too Otherwise you need to create files for each resource. And place it in the appropriate folder. Eg a file called “jeremys hatches” with all your hatches placed in: “WV Workgroup folder/Libraries|Defaults/Hatches. Im not on my computer so can’t verify all that but pretty sure that’s how it works.
  16. Hey Miguel. there are also a various options to change attributes in section viewports in the advanced settings on the oip. I suspect that is the issue. Shld have mentioned that previously. Othrrwise yes if you can share the file so we cld look at it?
  17. So I've just stumbled across the leader line lineweight issue today. The leader line attributes options in the OIP look like a real bug hole to me. I had weird graphics sticking to my leader lines then my computer froze up and I had to restart. I guess you are supposed to toggle to the next segment to adjust individually, but yes, unless you want leader line segments different it seems best to avoid this feature. Occassionally I want different makers when I have multiple leader lines but that's about it.
  18. For overrides to work both your wall object attributes and wall component attributes must be defined by class. This may require editing the wall styles.
  19. I can’t answer the question about line weights but re global editing of call outs see this thread
  20. So far I've managed to rebuild both our 'blank' template and workspace from scratch which wasn't too much of a big deal. (I've even documented how I did it so that I can easily do it all over again with each new release of VW). The blank template is what I'll rebuild all my project templates from. It just has document settings settings, some scripts and common tool default settings adjusted - other than that it is empty. I'm still pondering the best way of getting the content into the project template files. Copying and pasting from another 2018 template is probably not a good idea. For things such as viewports I'll probably have to to take screen shots of the 2018 settings and then adjust them manually in 2019....
  21. Yes I've just started on vw2019 and finding this issue. My slvps aren't moving around the page but I do have to update them every time I visit a sheet to see them. It only seems to be a problem on section viewports (so far). My file though was originally created in vw2018 so I was thinking that might be the problem. Was your file created in vw2019? Or perhaps created from a template which was created in a previous version? I am looking at rebuilding my templates from scratch in the hope that this will 'clean out' some of this odd behavior.
  22. Well I don't know, but I have been purging coincident objects for some time and not noticed any issues, so it's a fair assumption. Maybe someone else out there has more info?
  23. That may be useful tho so far I’ve never had a problem purging coincident objects. I’m assuming they are exact duplicate objects in the exact same location?
  24. If the colour defaults to black then the VP may be set to use black and white only. I think this setting is in the advanced options or under render settings, both located in the oip.
  25. I’m interested in this too. We use one very large library file for everything located just on our server and it can be slow to access. I’m wondering if we should set up a workgroup folders where we can break up the resources in our one large library file into a bunch of much smaller resource files. One for textured, one for hateches, one for plants etc this does seem the way Vectorworks is ‘supposed’ to work. I imagine this would speed things up considerably and should work just as well using a Dropbox location the down side of course is losing the convenience of having a one stop shop for resources and only one file to manage. Perhaps others have better ideas.
