Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted September 9, 2014 Author Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 9, 2014 Any stair tool improvements? Quite a few, they added a number of default configurations to the stair tool for O-shaped stairs that were not createable in one Stair object before, as well as angled landings. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted September 9, 2014 Author Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 9, 2014 (edited) Fantastic news. If it all works then this is a really great addition. We re-map all of the colors as textures before export and this can be very time consuming. This with the new modelling tools are very good news for us and a step in the right direction for interior designers Well done To give a general idea of the level of fidelity that is possible with the SKP and 3DS import now, here is a screenshot of an SKP imported into Vectorworks directly without any changes: [img:center]http://i.imgur.com/z4G0pmq.png[/img] This is a combination of the mesh smoothing feature and texture import. Kizza
3D hatches, are they image based or vector based? The level feature, are they "live" and do the levels appear in all 3D views? i.e. sections, elevations etc Edited September 9, 2014 by Kizza Quote Link to comment

Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted September 9, 2014 Author Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 9, 2014 3D hatches, are they image based or vector based? The level feature, are they "live" and do the levels appear in all 3D views? i.e. plan view, elevations etc The hatches are their own component of the texture and use the hatch resource directly. They are not part of the image-based texture. However they do not create lines on the object that can be moved or snapped, they are part of its texture. (If thats not what you meant let me know and I'll take another whack at answering it.) The levels are more of a organizational feature, you would not see them ever anywhere in 3D. That brief preview in the video is a bit misleading into how they work, it is showing what they do, not how they do it. The feature is fully explained and demonstrated in the New Feature Videos that will be released at launch. Quote Link to comment
Patrick Fritsch
With this new level scheme, will a slab be able to be bound to walls on different layers? Important since a wall can now span several storeys. Edited September 9, 2014 by Patrick Fritsch Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted September 9, 2014 Author Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 9, 2014 With this new level scheme, will a slab be able to be bound to walls on different layers? I'm going to go with a tentative yes, as you can now bound slabs to levels, which exist independently of Design Layers and Stories, which Walls can be bound to as well regardless of the layer they reside on. However, if any of the industry specialists disagree, they would know more than I and you should take their word over mine. My grasp of the entire Story system, even as it was in previous versions is not as complete as I would like. Quote Link to comment

Patrick Fritsch
Any better framing tools? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted September 9, 2014 Author Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 9, 2014 Any better framing tools? We didn't flat out replace the tools, but there are now options for collars and plates, as well as the ability to show the overall length of a framing member separately from the span. (Actual length vs projected length on the ground.) Quote Link to comment

Maybe an editing history? 2 Changes to nurbs curves / surfaces and the loft tools? 3 can you use the clip cube with and show caps on the cutting plane, or snap too the cutting plane? Patrick Fritsch
Can we now control the line weights for the hatches in ALL the detailing tools? Ex; linear materials tool, the X through dimensional cut lumber or wavy lines on cut finish lumber. They where way to heavy. Quote Link to comment

Haha not directly no, just happened to correspond with the end of the quarter and beginning of public rollout. We MIGHT have more features too Quote Link to comment
