  1. This reminded me of this other thread Fittings Problems! where similar behavior with hidden lines & EAPs is also happening in Vw2016. A later post in that thread stated: So while it appears to be a bug that was fixed in Vw2016 SP1, I'm guessing earlier versions probably won't get a fix. Unfortunately.
  2. I have not found a Distribute node: I think you'll have to do the math.
  3. @Alan - Like you, I don't currently have a BIM nodes folder either. It looks likes the new BIM nodes will be included with SP2, which isn't out yet. BIM Nodes
  4. Well - some of your problems may be due to Vw2013 being listed as not compatible with OS X 10.11: Vectorworks Operating System Compatibility List : VwKB
  5. Which version and SP of Vw are you using? Which version of Mac OS X? For future troubleshooting it will be helpful if you update your signature with the relevant information similar to my signature. Go to My Stuff > Edit Profile at the top of this page.
  6. There's a bunch of sample test files at libE57.org As well at Point Cloud Data Sets : PointClouds.org A very good freeware 3D point cloud and mesh processing software CloudCompare also has some sample data sets at the bottom of the home page.
  7. @Bas: try the first .vwx file in this post named 'MT-21-How to create a grid of objects.vwx': My journey through Marionette [Re: Luis M Ruiz] - #217462
  8. @Bas : take a look at Jonathan Pickup's 'Intro to Marionette' webinar that I linked previously; He demonstrates how to make a linear array of objects inside a Marionette network. It might get you started on how to extend his network into a rectangular array.
  9. In case anyone is still confused (like myself) about using 'red symbols', I found this VwKB Tech Tip video: I understand the usefulness of Red symbols for pre-setting attributes and parameters as michaelk pointed out, but I don't see how it answers the original poster's question: Once placed, a Red symbol is just like a regular Door PIO and it is not linked to others of the same type, so you would need to keep track of which doors are type ID-01 -vs- ID-02. Which Magic Wand settings would allow you to select only doors of type ID-01 so that you could make global changes to only that door type?
  10. I had to search the help for what a 'red symbol' was... Editing Symbol Definitions : Vw2015 Help
  11. The new Migration Manager function in Vw2016 is only used to migrate your Workspace, not convert old Vw files. To batch convert your old Library files to the current version, select File > Batch Convert. Converting Previous Version Files as a Batch : Vw2016 Help
  12. I don't think you're going to be able to do what you want because you are using symbols for your doors. Multiple instances of the ID-01 Door symbol will have exactly the same info, as you discovered. A symbol cannot have any unique data fields. I don't know how many doors you're dealing with, but I would not use symbols for the doors and instead just use the standard Door PIOs and fill out the User Data Fields if the Door Hardware Sets are insufficient for your needs.
  13. A lot of it is just matching industry vocabulary, although there are a lot of discrepancies between US and UK terminology, even though they're both English. @zoomer: If these other English apps you mention are using 'Window Frame' to describe the Jambs (Head & Side Jambs) and the Sill - then I would argue that those other apps are using inaccurate terminology. Because a Sill is very different from the Jambs. I find the Window & Door terminology used in Vw to be generally correct per US industry standards. (Isn't there a German localized version of Vw?)
  14. Take a look at michaelk's worksheet webinar, specifically right around the 29:00 minute mark. Hopefully it'll answer your question. Worksheet Webinar : verysmallgroup.com
  15. @sbarrett: after watching Jonathan Pickup's intro webinar, and looking through the nodes list myself, it seems that there is no Node for inserting a light inside a Marionette object. I don't know if it wasn't included because it would require Renderworks, but an 'Insert Light Object' node would be high on my wishlist for needed nodes.
  16. @Rassa12345: take a look at this thread (duplicate along path), sbarrett posted a custom node to create radial arrays. You could probably modify it to get a linear array, if that's what you wanted. HTH.

twk also created a PDF of all the default Marionette nodes: All Marionette Nodes
  18. This YouTube video should help:
  19. @Majic : I'm really curious if you're having the same problems I've had viewing the Vw2016 help on my iPad (3rd Generation) in Safari on iOS 9: Issues viewing 2016 online help file On my iPad, the Vw2016 help file is zoomed super-large in landscape and can't be zoomed out (but it works better in portrait). I submitted a bug report and was told that if there were problems the web team would fix it, but nothing's been fixed yet. Over at that thread you can see some of the other desktop browser issues I've been having. I'd really like to hear that I'm not the only one with these problems. So no - you're not alone.
  20. If you're a Service Select subscriber, you can download previous version installers currently back to Vw2011. But you'd probably have to have been a subscriber at the time of release to have a 2014 serial number. Just a thought.
  21. If only they would release a Mac OS X version of Bluebeam...
  22. That's a good trick Peter, thanks for the suggestion. One thing I have learned that even with 'Auto Join Walls' turned off (at least in Vw2015) is to not lock an existing wall and then try to draw a new wall which is coplanar with the locked wall, because it will still try to auto-join to the locked wall and very often it will crash Vw. Grouping the demo walls as you suggest seems to be much safer.
  23. MJA - I just edited my post ^^^^ to add the link to the Optimize Drawing plugin.
  24. From one of the other multiple threads about this topic, a 'delete duplicates' script could be written, but it sounds like it would not be a simple thing: deleting duplicate objects A much simpler option would be to buy the 'Optimize Drawing' plugin (available for €30) from Vectorbits.org. Optimize Drawing : Vectorbits.org
  25. By 'white cross' I assume you mean the full-screen cursor; To turn that off select Tools > Options > Vectorworks Preferences and on the 'Interactive' tab uncheck 'Full Screen Cursor'. Not sure what 'blips etc' is referring to, but if you mean the audio feedback: In that same Vectorworks Preferences, go to the 'Session' tab and uncheck 'Use Sound'. In addition to this forum, there is also the application help file that might give you answers to some of your upgrade pains. You'll probably want to get to know your 'Interactive' preferences. HTH.
