  1. ^^^ I agree 1000% with this ^^^. This has been wasting so much of my time for at least two versions now (2015 & 2016). Please fix this. This is another instance of giving priority to fixing any broken tools before adding any new ones.
  2. Happily I can say that all the problems I was having with viewing the Vw2016 help file on my iPad seemed to have been fixed with the latest update - Thank you to the Technical Publications department!
  3. In addition to Art V's requests, Text Styles should be able to set the text color 'By Class'.
  4. +++1 I accidentally turned on 'Hidden Line' while on a design layer: I thought I was going to have to force-quit because I couldn't cancel or change the render mode, but I was finally able to change the render mode.
  5. You're welcome. It is a somewhat complicated software package to just dive in to, so I would recommend watching several of the YouTube tutorials available on this page before you get started:
  6. Art V - one option to try would be to subsample the point cloud file using the open source software CloudCompare prior to bringing it into Vw. CloudCompare gives you control over how the subsampling is performed: Random - max number of points; Spatial - minimum distance between points; Octree - level of subdivision simplification. It also will allow you to modify the point cloud's colors. HTH.
  7. Bill- I think this is a bug in 2016. I modified your file and added a red-and-green tile texture so the VP class override would be obvious, but I couldn't get it to work. So I exported to Vw2015 and the class override worked correctly. You should file this as a bug. Vw2016 version: Vw2015 version:
  8. The interior designer could also export to SketchUp (.SKP) from ArchiCAD which you could then import into Vw.
  9. +1 this has always bugged me. For this reason I have started putting the version in question in the body of my post, and not just relying on my signature.
  10. Ability to tag or vote someone's response as the 'Solution'. Some website forums make it very obvious by putting a green box around the Solution post. Maybe once a post has received a number of votes (at least 3) it gets marked as the solution. +1000 to better searching. Currently, I have much better luck searching the forums with Google instead of the built-in search function. Ability to search for a three-letter word. Try searching for 'BIM' to see what I mean.
  11. Gilbert- here's a link to a KB article that outlines the hardware dependencies of RW and which modes currently utilize multi-core.
  12. As for Question #2, perhaps these threads might be able to help: Back Lit Lettering? A different kind of video wall As for your other questions, maybe others will be able to assist. For future reference, it will make things easier for others to assist you if you update your signature to include your relevant hardware and software info similar to my signature (just saying you have a Mac is not enough info). Located at the top of this page, pull down 'My Stuff > Edit Profile'.
  13. The 'Instant Fence & Railing' plugin for SketchUp is a great example of what should be possible in Vw.
  14. See this older thread on this topic. There is a 'driving curve tool' plugin available to Service Select subscribers, but the tool's accuracy is reportedly not very good.
  15. Assuming that your VP with the Space Object is a 3D view, edit the viewport in the Object Info palette (or select Properties from the viewport’s context menu) and turn on 'Display Planar Objects'.
  16. Bruno - a similar question was asked recently over at this thread. Unfortunately, as that thread explains, it seems that the area take-offs for wall components are measured at the centerline of the wall, so area measurements taken at the face will be slightly off.
  17. There is also the 'Table and Chairs' PIO tool located in the 'Furn./Fixtures' tool palette, you can make the table any width / length that you want. But I don't think you can have chairs on only one side, so you'd have to put the chairs in manually. Create the Table, add the three chairs, select all four elements and create a 2D/3D Symbol. On a side note, it is hard to believe that searching the Vw2015 & Vw2016 online help for 'table' doesn't return the 'Table and Chairs' tool in the results. It should be the first result.
  18. I completely agree. This question absolutely needs to be answered for Vw users in the UK, especially since as the original poster noted, we are now weeks away from the UK government's April 2016 mandate requiring Level 2 BIM on centrally-procured public projects. That Vw document was all I could find that addressed UK BIM standards, and admittedly it was lacking at best. It appears that other BIM software packages (such as ArchiCAD) have a more robust implementation of Uniclass 2015 standards. Maybe someone from Vw can chime in on how this is presently being addressed.
  19. I found this PDF titled New BIM Templates in Vectorworks 2015 which might be somewhat relevant to your question, even though it is now one product version update old. It says that: Not sure what version of Uniclass the BIM templates in Vw2015 are based on.
  20. A Google search for "mountain bike 3D DWG" brought up the following, you'll have to register to download. Mountain bike : GrabCAD
  21. He's referring to the required accessibility clearances at doors. Here in the US it is referred to as the Department of Justice's '2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design'.
  22. Could it be the SLVP's Hidden Line 'Smoothing Angle'? Set it to zero and see if the curved wall appears. Viewport Properties > Background / Foreground Render Settings > Hidden Line Viewport Properties : Vw2015 Help
  23. Rajesh - it doesn't appear that your screen caps were successfully attached to your post.
  24. This might be a dumb question, but what are the keystroke commands to do a 'hard carriage return' in Vw? Is it a different command on Mac or Windows? Thanks.
