Marc, First, are you using VectorWorks 12.5.1 or 12.5.3? If you are using the educational version you cannot update to 12.5.3. For this reason we suggested that our educational users request a free copy of VW 2008. Also to get a better idea of what is happening. Please sent one of your problematic files to tech@nemetschek.net

Can't select viewport by selecting text annotation
PVA - Admin replied to Chad McNeely's topic in General Discussion
Chad, I am unable to duplicate your issue. What build are you using of VW 2008. Also do you have the snap to objects constraint turned on? -
To resolve the quantity problem open a blank document. Place one of the default 2008 plants on the drawing. Then go to your file and in the resource browser import the plant you placed in the new document into the your current file. You should get a message the the record format already exist. Choose to replace. When the plant list is recalculated the quantity should show.

Find/replace text across multiple drawings?
PVA - Admin replied to JBender's topic in General Discussion
The Find-Replace Text command has to be done a file by file basis. Unfortunately, there is no way replace the text in more than one drawing at a time. -
Extrude Along Path rendering in Open GL
PVA - Admin replied to michaelk's topic in General Discussion
Do you have the Use NURBS option unchecked in the Open GL Options? Also can you send in a small file with an example of this issue to tech@nemetschek.net? -
Hi Scott, As you stated, VectorWorks has a default lighting scheme so the addition of lighting devices is not necessary, but once a light is placed that default lighting scheme is hidden and only the lighting devices on that layer are used (regardless of if they are turned on or off). Also, OpenGL only renders up to eight lights in a drawing; additional lights have no effect. This could be the cause of your dark lighting. If you have more the 8 lights in the drawing Open GL will only utilize the first 8.

Tobias, What rendering mode are you using? Also Could you please attach a snapshot of what exactly is it your seeing? Thanks,

PVA - Admin replied to Anouska34's topic in General Discussion
Anouska, if you call 410-290-5114 and ask to speak with either sales to tech support about upgrading, they can check your serial number and will give you an exact quote for whichever series you want to update to. -
Hi, What everyone has listed here is correct. When you submit a bug through the Bug Submit on the VW webpage the issue is sent to our engineering team, and they only contact you if additional info is needed.

Hi, This issue with spaces and your palettes not appearing is an operating system issue, as other programs that use palettes experience the same problem. It should be fixed in some future Leopard update, so until it is resolved we would suggest disabling spaces. If you would still prefer to use spaces, you may want turn on the AutoSave feature found in your VW Preferences to prevent the lose of your work again.

This issue was resolved in a previous update. Please make sure you are running the latest version, VectorWorks 2008 SP2(Build 83388). http://www.nemetschek.net/downloads/fundamentals/2008/2008SP2.php If you are still having issues with exporting after updating please call tech support for assistance with your issue.

Major Autocad 2008 Import Problem! VW2008 Export Not Working!
PVA - Admin replied to JGraber's question in Troubleshooting
Hi, The workaround for this issue is go to Local Disk > Program Files > VW 2008 >right click >properties>compatibility>select XP Pro service pack 2. Apply changes. Export to DXF/DWG should work after changing. -
By default there a selection handle just to the left of right of the tag. With the 2D selection tool, place the cursor over the selection handle until you get the resize cursor then move the tag to change the length of the leader.

Hi, First quit VW then go to HD > Username > Library > Application Support > VectorWorks > Workspaces > and delete all of the workspace files. Then launch VW. The text should appear correctly *If you have a custom workspace before deleting it in the Application Support folder, make sure you have a copy in HD > Applications > VW > Workspaces.

Bug? Align/Distribute in rotated plan view objects disappear
PVA - Admin replied to CS1's topic in General Discussion
Hi, I am trying to duplicate your issue but am unable to do so. Are you using the Align/Distribute command in the Modify menu, or are you using the Align/Distribute Items tool from the Spotlight tool set? -
VW 12.5 users running VectorWorks on Intel Macs must open the program using Rosetta to import SketchUp files. If after running in Rosetta, when attempting to import a SketchUp file, nothing happens the likely cause is version of the Sketchup File. VW 12 supports SketchUp 5 and earlier. If you try importing a SketchUp 6 file in VW 12, nothing will happen. VectorWorks 2008 does support SketchUp 6 and does not require opening the program with Rosetta to import the SketchUp files.

You are trying to fillet the the extruded rectangle's edge correct? You do not need to subtract solids for this. In the 3D Modeling Tool Set there is a Fillet Edge Tool.

In the Program Files > VectorWorks 12 > Workspaces folder, remove all the Workspace files. (Dragging them out to the desktop is fine for now.) There should be a folder in the Workspaces folder called "Backup 1" or "Originals" Copy the workspaces out of this sub folder, into the main workspaces folder and try starting VectorWorks again. If the same problem happens, try running the QuickTime Player, if it does not open, download and install the latest one from Apple. These steps will almost definitely fix that issue if executed correctly.

This is probably more than you'll need to do, but this is a complete manual uninstall of VectorWorks on a PC: 1) Click and drag your VectorWorks folder (Default location: C > Program Files > VectorWorks) to the recycle bin. Empty the recycle bin. 2) Click Start > Run and in the dialogue box that pops up, type ?RegEdit? 3) On the left hand side of the window that pops up, ?Registry Editor? you will see a few small icons that look like folders with + or ? signs next to them, click all the "?" signs except the one next to ?My Computer?, you should see one folder labeled: ?HKEY_CURRENT_USER? 4) Expand this folder by clicking the "+" sign to the left of it. Inside you will see a ?Software? folder, expand it as well. 5) Right click on the ?Nemetschek? folder and select Delete. Do the same with the ?VectorWorks? folder. 6) Repeat these steps for the folder ?HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE? as well.
