  1. Although Spaces have some pluses. Thanks.
  2. I am just tracing over other peoples plans. I am trying to keep it simple by using 2d geometry, VW Records, and worksheets. I am deliberately avoiding anything that is a black box like VW's space object. That way I can see that AxB=C
  3. Is there a way to create a text block from an objects' Name field in the Data tab in the OIP? I am creating simple 2d geometry over PDF versions of plans to do material take off/extimating calculations. I am naming each 2D object in the Data tab so they can be differentiated in a worksheet, but it would be useful to attach the name to the object on the layer as well. It would be great to be able to have the label created in a class so visibility could be controlled.
  4. Hello visard, I took that same class with Marc. Great class. If I remember correctly the information that you need is pretty basic. I did mine w/ vectorworks as well. I don't know if I made any worksheets to pull out the data or not, but I will check. If you search this board there is a lot of examples of people who have shared worksheets to do material take off of one kind or another. I would see if that turns up anything you could modify to your needs. I have often thought it would be great to set up VW to give me all the data for material take off and energy models, but I haven't been doing much design lately. There was a REScheck worksheet that someone created that used a combination of worksheets, records and classes to pull out the data need for rescheck, that might be a good place to start.
  5. I have seen this before, but I do not have files on a server, so I am not sure if this will be applicable to your exact situation. When I have seen this, it is because I have moved the file location, changed the file's name, or in some way changed the path to the file while the file is open in vectorworks.
  6. I've never run VW with a monitor that large (27"), but I run it with a 2x monitor set up and I like it a lot. I have one monitor with the main project window, tool bars and nav palette, and the other has the oip, resource browser, etc. with room left open for other documents that i need to look at. I like the set up of the 2x.
  7. No, but VW 2013 can export gbXML? That should be helpful, no?
  8. This is been showing up for me lately, typical when doing an interior render w/ a viewport linked to a camera. I am a little light on RAM. Will that solve it? VW 2012 SP 5 Mac OSX 10.6.8 MacPro 2x2.8 quad Core 6 GB RAM
  9. Not sure if this will help, but I recently moved my computer and somehow some of the RAM got loose and wasn't being accessed by the computer (system was running 4GB instead of the normal 6GB) anyway, VW2012 crashed a few times, and I got a few error messages before I realized what was wrong. Now that I am back up with 6GB RAM, VW 2012 is very stable, again. So, could be a lack of RAM
  10. Twat! A word totally under-utilized on this forum, and in the United States in general.
  11. Evernote is very handy. syncs between desktop/laptop/smarty phone seamlessly.
  12. I use a normal wall in the proposed wall class for windows that get blocked. (Window goes to a demo class, fill wall is in proposed wall class) For new windows in existing walls, I need to use a wall in a special class that has the same graphical attributes as the existing walls so that existing plans will show correctly. Otherwise, they show the cut out for the proposed window in the existing plans, but no window.
