  1. In this test video, I just have a random poly extruded and was testing speed in rendering modes, is yours much slower? If you can, send a recording of what you're getting as well: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4024
  2. Basic overview of the Visibility tool, but I think this video is from an older version: The New Feature videos for 2014 cover the improvements added for this most recent version.
  3. Under Tools > Options > Vectorworks Preferences, in the Display tab, do you have Enhanced Navigation Graphics on or off? If you change this setting and test again, does the issue get better or worse?
  4. UPDATE: Vectorworks 2014 was tested with the very last build of OS X 10.9 before this release version and no issues were found. It will get another round of acceptance testing with this release build to see if there are any issues, if there are, they will be corrected via a service pack. No word on Vectorworks 2013 and the older versions for now, I will however say confidently that anything incompatible with 10.7 or 10.8 will also be incompatible with 10.9. This chart will be updated once we get the test results back: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/1...List+2013-09-17 As for the slowness some people are seeing, I get none of it when running it natively at default settings on either of my two main machines. The reports on the forums overall seem split, which means we have to narrow down the issues on individual machines that are behaving slowly. There are a lot of users calling in that have video card issues however, even some of the more powerful cards from only a few years ago have issues in OpenGL, but as long as you aren't trying to force Vectorworks through an Intel embedded card or a card with outdated drivers (on Windows) then normally we can get you up and running if you contact tech@vectorworks.net
  5. Send in that test file along with the following: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/627/DirectX+Diagnostics+and+System+Profiler To Tech@vectorworks.net please, and we'll have a look.
  6. Not specifically that station, but just going from your hardware specs listed in your sig I would not expect hardware to be the problem. Quadros are prone to random oddness but usually if the drivers are recent they behave. Do you even have this slowness in a new doc with just a few spheres/walls drawn in it? Or only in your established files?
  7. Im holding off until I can check my regular software (including 5-6 versions of Vectorworks) on a dummy machine to make sure everything plays nice. After the OS X 10.4 to OS X 10.5 debacle I tread lightly. Once we get official compatibility word on what-works-with-what as far as VW is concerned, I'll post it immediately. 8. So far most of the crashing issues I've come across for 2014 are machine specific or file specific. For anyone on Windows having a large amount of crashing seemingly at random, make sure you manually update your video card drivers directly, Windows Update doesn't always do it properly and it is a bigger deal than usual for Vectorworks 2014: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/476/Updating+Graphics+Drivers For users with a specific file that they can replicate crashing behavior in, or users getting crashing all over the place on a Mac, make sure to send that file along with this: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/627/DirectX+Diagnostics+and+System+Profiler To tech@vectorworks.net and we can have a look. There are no outstanding issues that should be causing so much crashing for everyone.
  9. There are many plugins, such as WinDoor, that add differently customizable plugins for Door and Window objects. However, I don't know any that specifically allow the creation of those types of items.
  10. Make sure Vectorworks is CLOSED while installing the patch: http://www.vectorworks.net/downloads/ServicePack.php?major=2014&servicepack=1
  11. No luck at all with the CrossOver test, simply wont let Vectorworks installer complete. Tried installing all of the prerequisites as well, QuickTime, .NET frameworks, etc, but no joy. There is a project called Darling, aimed at running OS X applications on Linux that I may eventually be able to try the OS X version of Vectorworks with, but its too early in it's development to get it working at the moment, however others with more experience are welcome to try: http://darling.dolezel.info/en/Darling
  12. We have had users experience this problem on and off when working with either Dropbox or another cloud/folder syncing service like Google Drive. I have yet to get it working reliably here in testing and would advise against it to avoid losing data inadvertently. The functionality comes and goes with different versions of the Dropbox/Drive clients.
  13. I believe the trial version will become available the same time the educational version is, however I don't know if they have set a specific date yet. If you already filled this out: http://www.vectorworks.net/trial/2014 Then you should get an email as soon as it is ready.
  14. You linked the text objects individually to the record fields that you created as well? http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/457/Custom+Title+Block
  15. Right clicking on the symbol and selecting "Edit 2D Component" should allow you to access any images or line work within the symbol.
  16. Not opening them directly, they can only be imported. Dragging and dropping them into your working area should trigger the import as well. It is unlikely they will change Vectorworks so that it "Opens" DWGs directly however, because of how much object conversion is involved. It isn't the same as a DWG viewer, which does not alter any geometry. Also, in the same way Vectorworks cannot "Open" DWGs directly, it also can not simply "Save" them, it has to use an export function, which again can alter geometry. It may just be an issue with semantics however, I will check.
  17. The closest thing to that in Vectorworks would most likely be a Tile Fill: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/838/Tile+Fills
  18. Do any dimension objects appear in the annotations of that viewport at all? If you get the red highlighting it should be creating it, but it will disappear if the class its being placed into is turned off in that viewport.
  19. Yes, that screenshot looks like it was taken in the Fundamentals workspace. Tools > Workspaces is where this is changed, by default.
  20. Apparently this is to indicate that the object is not being moved in Screen plane any longer, as it was when the object was 2D only. Once the object is extruded, this interface is attempting to show you that you are moving it in 3D space instead.
  21. It actually seems like if I go to Top view, then select the rectangle tool, I get the entire-drawing-area grid, but if I then select or move any 3D object, I only get the small layer place/3D grid square. If I click the rectangle tool again while in screen plane mode, the entire grid comes back up... I never noticed this either, I turn the grid off immediately too. I'll check and see if there is a reason this happens.
  22. Haha my job would be much easier. REQUESTED FUNCTION: Make everything work perfectly. MODULES AFFECTED: All RESOLUTION: Sure. RESOLUTION DATE: ??/??/????
  23. Yup, its basically an HD-DVD/BlueRay race with these. AMF seems more reasonable, but every once in awhile the Microsoft horse wins simply because it belongs to Microsoft. Currently .STL is the most predominant only because the large majority of applications already supported it and it was the main file format of choice in the hobbyist movement (Thingiverse/Makerbot etc).
  24. Too large to post apparently, please email me at tech@vectorworks.net and ill send you a download link.
  25. Got it, those were made by Luis R, I'll check with him and see if I can get the files for you.
