  1. Working on a file that has gone in and out of 2019 and 2020 by different people. I go back to make a patching adjustment after adding more fixtures to a 2019 version that the TD made the stage larger in a 2020 version and the normal address fields in spotlight numbering are missing. I checked the spotlight settings and all the lighting device parameters are checked. The fixtures show the address field in the OIP. It just is not in Spotlight numbering anymore. Seems to be many issues with dmx patching and address fields when working on files that go back and forth from 2019 and 2020. Is there an official bug that Vectorworks is working on in regards to this behavior?
  2. This makes sense as to why drawings made in 2019, opened in 2020 don't retain their patch. Also importing mvr files into vision 2020 that were exported from vectorworks 2019 have very random patch information missing. So what is the correct workflow to take work done in 2019 to 2020 and still have all the tools function correctly? like ma2 export plug in, lightwright and Vision? Or at least a work around until things are fixed? Maybe a script that can copy that info back and forth between both new and old fields depending on which version you are transferring to or from?
  3. When opening a file in Designer 2020 that was created in 2019 it re addresses all fixtures in universe 1 to address 1. All other 22 universes remain patched properly. There is no difference in how universe 1 is patched and 2-23. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Also, where can I get information on these new user address and user universe attributes as well? What are their purpose?
  4. Any update on this?
  5. Any update on this issue? I am still getting the same error message as the OP.
  6. I have 19, 26 of both source 4 and Lustr2 that are behaving different. Some are stuck on vertical beam without it checked. Throws are 25 to 45'. Very odd. They will also randomly show the beam angle incorrectly in sections or orthogonal renders as illustrated above.
  7. I have had the same thing. Also, I have fixtures that are stuck on "Use vertical beam" whether the box is actually checked or not.
  8. @Jeff B You can always add the U Address field to your OIP by going to Spotlight preferences, lighting device and lighting device parameters. You can add or take away most of what you see in your OIP. You can do that without having the automatically assign universe feature enabled. I am having the same issue with lightwright btw. I use the auto number in vectorworks to assign Universe and address at the same time by clicking a chain of units. However when I follow the lightwright instructions it puts a 1 in the universe column on lightwright although there are many different universes displaying correctly in vectorworks. I guess I just have to change the way I address and display patch in vectorworks to get it to communicate to lightwright. Did drawing in vectorworks with the U Address field solve your issue?
  9. I am also having this problem. Even in a file that worked fine up until version 4 and now on my version 5 export I get spinning beachball when I try to go to title block manager to change the version number and the application. I have a deadline so I will go and manually put filled text blocks over where I should be able to change info through the title block manager until this issue gets solved.
  10. @Tom Klaber I am not sure of a way to tag the objects directly. I still use the saved view with everything off trick then only turn on the classes that come up with the filter and then use view option "Active only" and select all. Make a saved view of just those objects incase I need to repeat the action. I bet there is a better way to do this. I just haven't stumbled across it yet.
  11. Same thing here with moving LED walls any distance. Sometimes its a beachball for 10 minutes before the move happens. 2019 Designer SP1
  12. So this is a confirmed bug by several users now. Two on this thread alone. Can this be moved to the known issues forum and assigned a bug number? We really need a solution for this.
  13. Yeah no problem. This is the best new feature other than being able to type and search. The filters are managed from the navigation palette. right under class or design layer dropdown there is another drop down thats default is <all classes> or <all layers>, click it and create new filter. You get to choose any combo of tags, classes and visibilities along with a preview of what those filters would look like in real time as you change them. I don't think I could use tags without the filter feature. Hope that helps!
  14. The feeder cable tool is freezing the application and it is not responding. Although, unlike the other dozen times I have had to force quit for this and editing LED walls or placing position summaries, NO BEACHBALL! Still had to force quit. Didn't have to look at a beachball while wondering how much work I lost this time. Can someone please shed some light on how to get 2019 to work faster and lock up less? I feel like every single action takes too long.
  15. Create a new filter with the tags you want. That is the only way I have figured out how to find, select & edit them.
  16. Yes, I am noticing this and it is taking several minutes (sometimes 5!) just to move a large led wall any distance (no more nudging for me). This is also happening with instrument summary settings. Focus points are not taking their default class. Label legend attributes not going their default class. Things not showing up when Class options set to active and the objects are certainly in the class of question. Its random and not repeatable. Weird random things with objects being selected and showing not selected even though the orange glow is around them and I have moved my cursor away from the object (made a click, glow still there, no object selected) I have to de-select and re-select several times or do some random class changing before going back to the class the object is in to make it take the selection and give me options in the OIP. A few of these things are repeatable and can go into their own thread so they can be fixed but I don't know how to show someone all of these random ones until they happen.
  17. In Vectorworks 2019 SP0 if I insert an instrument summary and apply the custom options prompted when you first use the tool and then go back to the tool and click the "instrument summary tool preferences" button next to the mode choices I get the spinning beachball of death and Vectorworks stops responding and I have to force quit. Attached is a file I can repeat the problem in 100%. Is anyone else having this problem or can replicate with a blank file or the attached file? 2019 SP0 Instrument Summary BUG.vwx
  18. Bruce, Seems it only works with some objects and not others. All Spotlight objects work correctly. Doesn't work with basic shapes but if you create an object out of those shapes it will. Even if the objects are not spotlight objects. It is definitely hit and miss and also have noticed that some of the objects you create from shape like a rectangle to a slab will not align in the correct place that the line was drawn in. Very weird. Although this a step up from the last align and distribute bug I found when first upgrading to 2017 Spotlight where it would just crash. Now I also have a new instrument summary settings button freeze bug that I am about to go submit. SP0 is always interesting. I am already anticipating SP1.
  19. I really hope this feature is added in 2019. It is very tedious to not display length and then go and type lengths in text boxes if you are trying to show a stagehand on a plot what length cable to grab for the jump without having the (x' Extra) displayed all over the plot making it unreadable.
  20. Start by closing Vectorworks if it is open. I was having the same issue and when I contacted Tech Support today this is what Alexander said. (I would post the plug in but that file extension is not allowed) He was very quick with the email response containing the modified plug in attached and my Align and Distribute bug is now fixed! Thank You Alexander!
