  1. If you want to rake the stage just use the split tool to draw a line on the angle and take away the top. Click on the start point then the end point and then remove the top bit. See image if this is what you are after. Also you can subtract solids to get your shape. Convert to polygon, close the polygon then extrude, rotate along the centre of the cutting block and subtract. See last image
  2. Thank you for this advice. So much to learn but it makes it easier each time.
  3. Hi, I have found that some manufacturers will produce some of their own extrusions but most will use a propriety extrusion to make up their suite. So under the banner of "X" curtain wall system may be 20 components from different suppliers. Haven't worked on a project where the take offs are done but it must be done. Maybe someone can shed some light on how the bim takeoff works for Curtain Walls
  4. Yes to both. If you select the Bearing and not the simple version you get the option to add and subtract bearings. So if you get it wrong just remove the last and redo. HTH See following for example this covers it well.
  5. I use Tools / Custom Selection/ class (dimensions) then change the style to the new style. If different dim Styles you may need further selection criteria. Maybe there is a better way. HTH
  6. They always talked about the paperless office, but its only the production of the final print that's changed. A lot of our contractors use an iPads but there is always a set of drawings laying around for all the subcontractors to refer to. Until they all have ipads then the idea of no paper drawings laying around is a long way off. Tender drawings are now sent out electronically and that saves a lot of trees. You would think that the Government (Councils approving Projects) would be the leader in this but NO, one Council here in Sydney still wants 10 sets of drawings and also a disk, and they profess to be "Green" One good thing that we do is face time the builder on site if there is a problem and we can see what's going on which can solve some things without a site visit. I even set up my phone in front of the computer screen and have a video conference with a Client or consultant. So we are getting there but its up to us to use the technology at our disposal.
  7. Dam, thought I had solved my problem, but the problem I had was with hidden line rendering and the triangles. Oh well back to the drawing board. Your not missing anything but I seem to have lost a few neurons in my old age.
  8. You could always use the curtain wall tool and put random transoms in. Or make symbols for the various panels that you have and place them side by side and you then can change the symbol if needed as long as they are all the same overall dimension.
  9. Hi, A limit to the lights you see in open GL. Can you explain as the attached shows an open gl rendering with the lights turned on and there are more than 8 showing or do you mean something else??
  10. Hi, I am still learning all about this but I have set up a project with storeys and bound walls so hope this video helps. Happy to be pointed in right direction to do it correctly. Thanks
  11. Your Welcome, You will notice I have rounded the edges of the table also, I used the 3d Tool fillet edge and select the all edges or face from the Fillet Edge Preferences. Lots to choose from to make the item fancy. Have fun.
  12. Hi, the simplest way to draw this is use the polyline tool and extrude it. See images Also if you use an image to trace over you can push and pull the vertex's to get the best shape, this is rough and took a few minutes. The more you know about the program the more options you have when trying to make something. There is still heaps to learn. HTH
  13. True, And is #128521 referring to #128521 Color Hex, or instant upgrades for twitter???? Alan
  14. Why not show it in 3d this will explain the whole thing?? And do all the tags and notes in 3d.
  15. Hi, I have found it useful when rendering a site model and getting rid of those annoying triangle that appear when rendering in open GL.
  16. LOL, Of course, now why didn't I think of that. I have 2 screens so now I have VW across both screens and 2 files one on each Screen. Wonderful. Thankyou, I don't mind asking asking a dumb question, someone always has the answer.
  17. I cant view 2 vectorworks drawings at once side by side. Can you do this? AutoCad you can open another drawing and have it side by side basically having 2 programs open at same time. What am I missing??
  18. One thing to note when creating the Displacement map in black and white is, the white parts of the image are influenced 100% by the displacement and the black parts 0%. so the graduations in greys between the black and white are affected by percentages between 0 and 100% depending on their shades of grey.
