0 Tom W.
You could try AEC > Pillar... ? Quote Link to comment
0 Mark Aceto
I think the answer you seek is called Create Wall Projection...   Quote Link to comment
0 trashcan
Sorry, to clarify - the command I'm using is Create Wall Projection (it creates a wall feature). It doesn't work on objects that span two walls (I.e. a corner)  Pillar works but I don't see how that's any different from doing a dummy extrude(?)  Was hoping to use Wall Projection so that the feature is married to the wall. Quote Link to comment
0 Tom W.
A Pillar is slightly more sophisticated than an Extrude because Walls will join with it + in Top/Plan at least it will look like a seamless part of the Wall: Â Less satisfactory in Shaded with edges: Â 2 Quote Link to comment
0 Mark Aceto
Also you can make a pillar any combination of shapes (for a single object). It has a similar profile edit mode to a Hanging Position. It won't be married to the wall but it's pretty easy to edit after moving the walls. Â The wall projections really shine when you don't want the projection to be "continuous" (floor to ceiling). Like if the the projection has a reveal below it where the wall meets the floor. Otherwise, pillar/s would be my go-to (when they match the height of the wall). Â Edited March 29, 2022 by Mark Aceto Quote Link to comment

0 trashcan
Hmm both Pillars are showing as separate in top/plan: Â Quote Link to comment
0 Mark Aceto
I couldn't get it to work perfectly using pillars, so I drew the pillars as walls. I've heard that pillars are ancient PIO's, and the wall PIO in v2022 is completely overhauled, so walls play nicely with walls. The only caveat is the corner that intersects in a weird way. I couldn't solve that with either method (except for Shaded). That's where your wall projection or recess might help.     Edited March 31, 2022 by Mark Aceto Quote Link to comment
0 Mark Aceto
BTW this reminds me of the many "BizBash" venues in NYC that have been plastered over the years from one party / fashion show to the next, and there are a too many soffits and other layers of architectural features / modifications to count. Sometimes the 3D Modeling toolset is the way to go. Even though those objects aren't as parametric as walls, they do have an editing history that's non-destructive and fun to play around with. Â Not for nothing, Paolo makes a really slick plugin that might help too:Â https://fitplot.it/vwplugins/mouldings.html 2 1 Quote Link to comment

0 leecalisti
My "workaround" has always been to use a thicker wall at the corner and join them. It works best when the walls do not require materials or textures, but I've gotten that to work. Wall projections have often annoyed me. Recesses can be OK. 2 Quote Link to comment
0 trashcan
I'm so glad I'm not alone here - this has bugged me for some time. "Vectorworks, there's always a workaround!" That's why it's such a powerful tool!! 1 Quote Link to comment

0 leecalisti
Here is how I often use "thicker walls" to create piers instead of using a wall projection. It works for me. Â Set the Render Texture to "Use world Z for origin" in OIP to get textures to blend smoothly. 1 Quote Link to comment
