Christiaan
Are there any useful resources in VW for modelling scaffolding? Are there any symbol libraries? Designs? Quote Link to comment
grant_PD
got mine from google sketchup. Not pretty, but workable. Quote Link to comment
ChadL
If you have Spotlight there are scaffolding symbols that come with the video screen PIO. I don't think they are in the VW Libraries, but you can navigate to them. They are in your VW folder, under Libraries, Defaults, Video Screen - Stand Models. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Thanks Chad, doesn't appear to be in my Library though. Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Christian I've been using this symbol. It won't stand up to close inspection. It probably isn't the correct dimension of any existing real-world scaffolding. But I'm not manufacturing scaffolding. : ) I just needed the drawing to say "put the scaffold here". (If I had just talked to ChadL a couple months ago I could have saved myself the trouble and used one of the many scaffold symbols included in Spotlight!) hth mk Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Thanks Michael, I'm after conventional scaffolding but these are nice handy symbols too. Quote Link to comment
grant_PD
turbosquid has a bunch. Not free, but well modeled. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Thanks Grant, I think that's probably the ticket. Quote Link to comment
michaelk
... I'm after conventional scaffolding ... Christiaan In the UK, what's "conventional scaffolding"? When I rent scaffolding in the US, that's what I get. mk Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee klinzey Posted January 31, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 31, 2013 I think the UK uses ring lock scaffolding. There are a few companies in the US that use it too. It's much stronger when assembled. I think I also remember seeing a lot of scaffolding structures built with Key Clamps, Cheeseboroughs and Rota-Locks last time I was there. Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Wouldn't that kind of stability take away much of the thrill of working on a rattling, wobbly tower? Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
It's more flexible too. You can configure to do a lot more than a tower. For instance you can build it over a house to cover it during a refurb. Quote Link to comment
Joe Golden ENT
What are people doing these days for Ring/Lahyer Scaffold? Quote Link to comment
Guest Wes Gardner
And don't forget to use the Human Figure tool :-) Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
I've seen lashed bamboo scaffolding in use. It's beautiful! Although the way bamboo propagates underground, I'm surprised there is room for any other life forms on the planet! -B Quote Link to comment
