  1. Caitlin, is the polygon closed? If so, try drawing it as a polyline and have it not quite closed. Then convert it. Does that make a difference?
  2. Instead of putting the dimensions on the Design Layer, put them in the annotation section of the viewport. Double-click on geometry on the viewport, and choose Annotations. Add the dimensions - they will be sized as you want. If you put dimensions and any text on the design layer, it is a scalable item, just like the other geometry. Using the annotations space enables you to ensure consistency, and also manage which annotations are relevant to which viewport.
  3. You're welcome. I am glad you are enjoying the tools. They are addictive!
  4. The Stakes are independent objects, so will not disappear when you are looking at the proposed model. However, if you have set them to be Existing, this simply means that they contain levels that should set the level for the Existing site. So, any elevation changes will not be included in the cut and fill calculation. You should always enclose site modifiers (Stakes or other) within a Grade Limit. You don't need one for each stake - just draw a single grade limit that encloses the whole site, and set this also to relate to the Existing site. The Grade Limit is a mode of the Site Modifiers tool. All modifiers should be enclosed within a Grade Limit, but they can all be enclosed by the same grade limit. You might find the following free training on Vectorworks University useful. The Site Design course includes a section on Site Modelling.
  5. Hi Steve Yes, if the Plant is based on a polyline (in other words, you converted it with Poly-vertex mode active in the Plant tool, then you have two options: Double-click the plant and choose to edit the Path - this actually activates the Reshape tool, and you can then reshape the polyline as you wish. When you exit this edit mode (but orange button, top-right of the edit window), the Plant will regenerate. Simply click the Reshape tool, and then click on the Plant. Reshape as desired. The Plant will regenerate.
  6. Vectorworks Landmark is the appropriate version of the software for Garden Design.
  7. Yes, I saw them, thanks. It's good to get feedback like this, and to see that you are making full use of Vectorworks University. I can't make any guarantees, but I'll certainly ensure these ideas are discussed and explored.
  8. I think this is a great idea, but of course I'll need to run it past a few people and discuss. I will talk to the training teams on both sides of the Atlantic who have been involved in getting this enormous project together. Thanks for your feedback.
  9. Hi Diletta The Corner Window is the way to achieve this. Just below the option to create a corner window, there is a checkbox to Span wall. This will create a window which extends to both corners. I've attached an example in 2019 for you. Corner Windows.vwx
  10. Hi In Vectorworks Preferences (Tools > Options > Vectorworks Preferences) click the Session tab. There is an option turn on/off hierarchical display of classes in pop up menus.
  11. It looks like you are in the Landmark or Designer workspace. Try Tools > Workspaces > Spotlight.
  12. And, make sure your site model is set to be updated by the layer that the landscape area is on. In the Site Model settings, you can choose which layers impact the site model.
  13. @konst - it's as I said above - when you create a plant style, you set the default values. But when you USE the plant, any of these settings can be overridden by the active settings in the Plant tool's preferences. Edit the preferences in the tool and set everything to Use Plant Style, then insert the plants. This will use the style values instead of custom values.
  14. I would create symbols that contain the small number of lines you want to use, and then apply them in the corners as an annotation in your viewport. If you make them as symbols, you can reuse them in all your projects.
  15. So, you have edited the texture and added a surface hatch? If you've done that part, then all you need to do is change the Hidden Line settings and turn on the option to display surface hatches. You'll find this on the Object Info palette, with under Background Render Settings.
  16. Could it be that you just have sides selected in the Part pop-up menu on the Render tab? There are separate parts for Top and Bottom, so you can apply different textures if you need to. If it's not that... not sure. You've definitely got a solid fill on the object and the object is closed... hmmmm...🤔
  17. Jim, I'm not able to reproduce your problem. I can select a Custom Leaf, choose a symbol from the library, and change some of the parameters, which updates the symbol. I have just done it again. I can change the width, height, jamb depth, operation, and much more. All of these changes can be made on the Object Info palette, and result in an updated door, but based on the Custom leaf. You could then save this as a symbol, with the option checked to Convert to Plug-in. This would give you a red symbol that you could reuse (from any library file - not just the custom door leaves file). And it would be parametric, so you would still be able to change it. The underlying geometry of the Custom leaf symbols is a generic solid, and therefore not parametric itself, but the parameters within the Door tool will cause it to remodel. Alternatively you can model any symbol as you wish, and then insert it using the Use Symbol Geometry checkbox on the General tab. Using THIS kind of symbol geometry creates a door that will NOT respond to changes made with parameters. The Door Style and Door Catalog functionality also provide the ability to start with a huge range of doors, all with preset parameters, and then change them as you wish. Depending on how the Door Style was setup, you can change 'By Instance' parameters, and those that were set as 'By Style' cannot. But to get to all the parameters, convert the Door to Unstyled and you'll be able to change what you want. But I appreciate from the start of your post that this is not what you want to use. In case anyone else is reading this post, this section of Vectorworks Help gives a good overview of this and includes a link to a video that explains Door Styles in more detail: http://app-help.vectorworks.net/2020/eng/index.htm#t=VW2020_Guide%2FSymbols%2FConcept_Plug-in_object_styles.htm%23XREF_25617_Plug_in_Object&rhsearch=door&rhsyns= There is a link at the bottom of this page that also explains Catalogs in detail.
  18. After exporting to Door - Custom Leaves, I think you should just be able to use the Resource Manager's Refresh Libraries option to avoid the Vectorworks restart?
  19. If you would like to include an example where it is failing @Jim Smith, I will be happy to look at it.
  20. Before inserting any plants on the drawing, click the Plant tool and then the Plant Tool Preferences button on the tool bar. Click Advanced Settings and then Placement: Size. Change all the options to Use Plant Style. Then the plants will be inserted using the size you defined in the style. I suggest that you update this tool preference in your project templates, so that it is always set this way whenever you choose the Plant tool.
  21. Create the extrudes as one. So, draw the the rectangles and select them. Then run the Extrude command once, to extrude all rectangles in one single operation. Renderworks will then see this as a single object and you will be able to map the texture across all three surfaces.
  22. It looks like you have the Image Mask option turned on, which is giving you the single repeat. That's fine, because that's what you want. Now, click the Set By Image button at the bottom left of the dialog and use the widget to position and set the size of either the whole image, or the size of a feature on that image. That will scale it up correctly. Then, make sure that the size of the preview object on the right of the dialogue is set to be the same as your real world object.
  23. Yes, I know what you mean - I was hoping that you would be able to get to the relevant parameter through a worksheet, and then just make the change in the table to update all the custom profiles from the worksheet. But you can't get to that parameter.
  24. Don't shoot yourself Lisa! We would really miss you. I've had a look, and it seems that there is no easy way to do this. I will log it as an enhancement request. I tried to do it using a worksheet. If you create a report that lists every field on the Massing Model record, you can easily change any of the parameters there, which would enable you to switch on the custom profile easily, or switch back to pitched, etc. BUT, there isn't a roof record that I seem to be able to get to. So I can't report those parameters to be able to change them. Sorry I don't have a magic answer on this one...
