  1. Thanks JimW. Glad to hear that moving forward, the release of training material will be more timely.
  2. Any progress on new training materials and video tutorials? I received a VSS Newsletter email this morning advertising 'exclusive content', and the only 'new' video tutorial I found was about '3D text effects and Text Along Path', which is not something I would consider a 'new feature'. Maybe I am not finding them, but I feel we are completely lacking training materials and video tutorials on the new Vw2016 features like Energos and Project Sharing. Especially Energos, which really has nothing except for an upcoming webinar on July 28th. (I read in this post from May 2016 the development reasons that the documentation is being held back). I really hope the training and tutorials bottleneck gets cleared soon, as we're now less than three months away from Vw2017. Announcing new features is great, but teaching us how to use them is just as important.
  3. You may need to install a font that supports the Cyrillic language, not all fonts do and the missing glyphs might give the behavior you describe. Fonts that support the Cyrillic language : Font Squirrel HTH.
  4. You might find this thread helpful: Worksheet of PIO Fields. It will give you instructions on how to create a worksheet with all of the possible door and window PIO functions that can be put into your schedule database headers. HTH.
  5. +1 I think this ^^^ should also track changes so that if you move a viewport from 'Sheet Number 5' to 'Sheet Number 27' the viewport name would also change to reflect its current placement. To further this wish, I think that it would be best if there were preset options in the Vectorworks Preferences for automatically naming the viewports, maybe: Option 1: [sheet number]-[drawing number]-[user specified viewport name] or - Option 2: [sheet number]-[drawing number]-[truncated drawing name]
  6. The Framing Member tool lets you select a Custom 2D symbol profile: couldn't you create a 2D profile symbol of the concrete beam section and select that for your profile?
  7. Absolutely. I've never used WinDoor and their implementation may not be perfect, but their solution to showing a little bit of demo around removed doors and windows is the way that I think it should be done.
  8. Does the 'Create Sheet List' command do what you want? Sheet List Index : Vw2016 Help It can also create a 'sheet list index worksheet':
  9. Mickey: here's a link to a KB article that outlines the current hardware dependencies of Renderworks and which modes currently utilize multi-core.
  10. Looking good Zoomer. Is Cinema4D the other app you used for this iteration? The pool water and the specular highlights, especially on the concrete, are very nice. I also wish that Vw Renderworks would implement architectural shift lenses: It should be a simple check box in the camera settings.
  11. Thanks JimW - I know you'll keep pushing. Perhaps a happy solution to the internal argument would be to provide a global preference setting to control whether copy-dragging a Keynote would preserve the Note description or not. One of the great strengths of Vw is its flexibility to allow different workflows. But this is an example of where that is not the case.
  12. General Notes and Keynote Legends should be Resource assets which can be placed on multiple Sheets. In the Resource Browser (or the pending Manager), you could have a Notes Folder which has 'Exterior Elevation Keynotes', 'Floor Plan Keynotes', etc. That way I can have the same set of Keynotes on multiple Exterior Elevation Sheets, for example. Right now, if you have two sheets of exterior elevations or floor plans, you cannot use Sheet Layer Viewport annotations and automatically have Keynote 12 be the same on both sheets. If you want to have coordinated keynotes across multiple sheets, you have to do all your annotations on a Design Layer. Then you have to make a specific SLVP for the Keynote Legend on each sheet.
  13. GAAAAAH! I don't know how this is considered to be working as designed. If you had to edit Keynotes every day just to click the 'Use 42...', you wouldn't think it was working as designed. I have wasted hours of work fixing keynotes because of this 'working as designed' functionality. My work methodology is the same as VellumDesignBuild: I drag a copy of an existing Keynote which is already properly formatted and then I double-click on it to edit it. This exact same workflow *used* to work perfectly fine back in Vw2010~2012: I would like to know the reason why it was changed from the previous behavior.
  14. +1 to everything that Tom noted, additionally a true 'Non-Plot' Class would also be useful for leaving 'notes to self' or others on the drawings for things that you don't want to print, but always want to be visible.
  15. +1 This has always been a much needed wish list item: Ability to make any Class or Layer be Non-Plot I think it should be so that you can click a little printer icon on the Class settings, so that any Class could be set to not print, and not just a specific line weight or type. (This is how AutoCad has always worked). See attached.
  16. Use the 'shuttle file' technique described here: Re: classes of imported DWG ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
  17. Woo Hoo! Custom Stair lives!
  18. JimW - will the Analytics data show what percentage of users continue to use specific Legacy tools like the Custom Stair? Thanks.
  19. The Custom Stair tool is still there, it's just been moved to the Legacy toolset so you need to manually add it to your Workspace to bring it back. But I agree that the 'new' regular Stair tool is confusing at best. I continue to use the Custom Stair. Here's one of the many threads discussing the current state of the Stair tools: Stair Comments and Wishes It sounds like the Custom Stair tool cannot be brought out of Legacy status because of technical reasons, the best we can hope for is an informed reworking of the regular Stair tool.
  20. I totally agree 1000%. You should be able to right-click on the Grid Line object and have an option to 'Insert new Grid Line', and be able to do this without messing up any other grid lines. Grid lines should also be visible in section and elevation viewports as TWK suggested. Right now, they are not smart objects.
  21. I have used SketchUp for years, and as far as I know, it does not come with anything remotely like Vw's Web View with walk-around collision detection.
  22. On my iPad (iOS 9), initially I thought that the 'First person' mode with the 4 icons did not work, but I moved myself close to the ground with the 'Orbit' mode and then switched back to the First Person mode and then the 4 icons worked fine. Maybe this is what is going on with those users having problems on Windows phones. I'm really looking forward to using this for presenting to clients, especially once we can add Saved Views. Keep up the good work!
  23. JimW- will the Resource Manager allow for bulk editing / adding tags on multiple files / resources at once? Thanks.
  24. Awesome - thanks. I like this 'Beta Testing by Proxy'!
