  1. Would it have been so hard to turn this into a proper signed app?
  2. Is there reason there couldn't be a final option in this that translates the Internal origin to align to the current User Origin? Sure understand might be slow and probably should generate a new file untitled file that has to be saved as if you want to replace orginal. Still that would save a whole bunch of manual intervention.
  3. or Top Right, Mid right and even centre. That would be tops.
  4. Wikipeadia have a good how to guide using free tools here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Graphics_Lab/Resources/PDF_conversion_to_SVG#Conversion_with_Inkscape
  5. If you export PDFs (not bitmapped) those can be converted to SVG.
  6. It would be brilliant for Slabs and Roofs as well if a component could be a framed zone instead of a solid mass. Better again if these zones were "lazy generation" so walls using them didn't become as slow and unworkable as the current framed walls. Stretch goal - Infill sub-component(s) for glass or insulation between the framing members. I mean being able to draw four walls. Associate a floor slab, and roof with them then get a credible section in minutes would be a dream.
  7. From what i can work out sections are single point perspectives and default to the middle point of section bounds. Two ways to change from memory. - Replace the crop object of the section with a rectangle centred were you want the vanishing point. - Adjust the top and bottom cut-off of the section so it's equal distance above or below. You can also adjust the perspective distance to show more or less of the receding walls.
  8. Wouldn't it be better to change the wall style for a wall type change like the one you noted? (Yes In a fan of the newer more direct record interface)
  9. Have you considered just making the trees 2-3 crossed planes.
  10. You forgot the what will be the most common one... "Words as implemented"
  11. I have to disagree with this. I mean the standard steel section I pull out of the my library to sketch around for the builder, is the same item I want the framing member tool to use for the model or the repetitive unit tool to use for hand crafted sections and details. Having multiple copies is not a good solution, having to dig every time in an interface that actively discourages it is not great either. One well organized library mirrored in file for project specific items and each tool having favorites (instead of defaults) to hot link the best parts would be ideal in my book.
  12. How do I trigger this rendered view with the Energos model? I realise the interface element are marketing material but the heat map view looks like it's something the program should be able to produce with the data. Yet there seems to be no obvious way to trigger it.
  13. Would be perfect if it could add say Plan, Section, Elevation, View or Detail to name based on context.
  14. You could delete the shortcuts from the workspace. Sure takes longer when you want to render but could be the same time as confirmation. Saves the time delay of accidental render start, even with confirmation and frees up very useful shortcuts for more meaningful things.
  15. Seriously Vectorworks !? Oh no, we can't have hotkeys redefined to bring more common commands on to easy keys.... but you are happy to redefine a long-standing shortcut to activate this feature. Not to mention it's in complete contradiction to almost all interface conventions. Single keys are for tool activations and modes. Command key combinations are for action and commands that appear in menus. Can I suggest key command shift option M is available instead as default? I also would say shift command M who uses the multi viewport command anyway.
  16. You can use layer colour on distinct layers to force objects on the other layers to be white (or light-grey) not the same effect as the ghosting but still good for taking the eye off the context and keeping it on the project.
  17. Don't rendered viewports already snapshot model data so they can background process. Then they get flagged if there are changes that may effect them. However the interface is very crude and only presents dirty not dirty. Also most of the modern file systems use block copy-on-write to improve data security. This also means the system can produce two or multiple versions of the same file and the storage size cost is only the differences. Expose versioning in the interface and we cut down on redundant copies we keep just in case, each having a fully redundant copy set of the common data plus the changes. Given we already have a way of flagging important milestones within Vectorworks (titleblock issuing) the system would have the information it needs to purge versions between milestones and keep size contatined. In short I don't think the technology is the limiting factor here.
  18. I love to also do this within a file. Have Viewports highlight changes since last update/refresh/issue. If only for visual highlighting to make sure things are done.
  19. We run our 10 year old HP DesignJet on the new drivers on 10.12 works well.
  20. Sorry, yes there is code for a demo app in the developer tools or Xcode has an ARKit templet that set up the bones for you. No Unity. Vectorworks can export Collada file which Xcode can turn in to a SceneKit asset. That is where my journey ended, as I worked out shortly after that my abilty to streamline this process even for my own use is limited. Also very clear that smarter and better-versed people than me should be able to produce a solution faster, better and cheaper than I could.
  21. I thought pushing learn more might have triggered permanent shushing but no.
  22. Yes it does feel very much like a program where the developers aren’t “Eating their own dog food”.
  23. It is considered polite to put a button on these pop-ups to skip till next version/service pack. Oddly I have downloaded an installed 2018 but it still insists on bugging me very time I restart VW2017. Worse it's modal and sometimes the dialogue opens on the second monitor behind another app.
