  1. Try modelling the blade in two parts and then use Add Solid to make one object from them. - Make the uniform thickness part as one object. - Then model the knife edge as an extrude along path object. That will allow you to use a tall narrow width triangle as the profile. You may need to model the tapered part longer than needed so you can remove parts at either end to get the shape in those locations correct. Use Subtract Solid or Split as appropriate. You could also look at doing the knife blade with the Subdivision capability.
  2. Sarah, what OS? Does the problem persist if you change Workspace? Have you tried resetting your Vectorworks Preferences? (Button in bottom LH corner of Vw Preferences dialog box.)
  3. You can use the dot patterns 1 to 8. There is a PDF export option to Export patters at on-screen resolution. If my memory serves me correctly the results are okay with the dot patterns if you have that option switched off. Try it both ways and see what the better result is when you print from the PDF.
  4. There is no way to open a Vw 2019 file in an earlier version. Vw 2019 can export to a Vw 2015 file version. Some object capabilities will not be retained.
  5. For me the colours are a visual cue and a monochrome look does not appeal to me at all.
  6. Architects and designers are graphic oriented people and and the interface needs to reflect that. UI improvements that make the program easier to understand and use will improve the appeal of the program to them and make it easier for new users to learn and understand the program. That will benefit all of us.
  7. This part of the Keynote left me wanting more. More information on these interface improvements and please include them in the next version.
  8. Rob, both are needed in 2D and 3D Bicycles are a higher priority than motorcycles though.
  9. I tried a quarter sweep but the bend wouldn't convert to a subdivision object. I also tried lofting with a rail from two objects that had the same shape and it also wouldn't work. ie. from one with two very short vertical straight line segments (1 mm) to one with longer vertical straight line segments (100 mm). There must be a way to do it. Hopefully the Vw Inc. experts can explain how to do that. Also from a rectangle to a duct shape of that type.
  10. I tried that Kevin and a simple loft does work. That doesn't gve the swept result that Lee is after though. To do that you need a rail and I can't get the loft to work with a rail curve. I suspect the problem is because of the two extra segments in the second curve. In my experience lofts are problematic when you have curves with different numbers of segments. Lee may have to look at doing this with a Subdivision object.
  11. Can you please post a file with your two nurbs objects in it.
  12. I like the mock up generally. I prefer the colourful icons for resource types though rather than grey subdued.
  13. Diego, a Roof has to be a planar surface. When I plot what you have drawn with those dimensions with 3D loci and then draw a nurbs surface using those points I don't come up with a planar surface.
  14. Make sure the Snap to Angle constraint is on.
  15. The 2D components for Hybrid Objects feature movie should clarify it for you: https://www.vectorworks.net/en/architect/features Also have a look at Help: Concept: 2D Components for Symbol Definitions and Plug-in Objects
  16. Try exporting each 3D layer separately so they can import them one by one and assemble the model manually.
  17. I'm with Kevin on this one. An interface that looks like and works like it does in the promotional videos would be a real winner.
  18. Will, you can do this with Tile fills. For more information look at Help. There is a sub-section in Basic Techniques titled Using Tile Fills. I would still like to see a more visual way to define hatches though as per your Wish.
  19. No and it is unlikely that there is one.
  20. The Industry versions of Vectorworks: Architect, Landmark, Spotlight and Designer can import Sketchup files. Fundamentals doesn't have that capability.
  21. Pammv, use page based symbols for electrical. They will then be the same size no matter what the scale of the Viewport is or the scale of the Design Layer. It is an option within the Symbol Options edit choices in the Resource Browser. If you are going to change the option for existing Symbols make sure you are in a 1:1 scale Layer when you do it.
  22. Graphic Attributes pane of the Stair Settings dialog box.
  23. Apologies M5D. I missed the gist of your original post by not reading it carefully enough. Hopefully the Vw Inc people will be able to give you an answer.
