  1. Hi, I had trouble finding out how to do the displacement mapping so I have toyed with it and the attached my result which gives a bit of an overview in the first video and the second shows you how I did it. Have fun This one shows how I created the maps
  2. Hi, Are you in top/plan mode or top mode?? this alters what you see on plan view. Hit 0 on you key pad.
  3. Hi, I think this is a great idea and you can dimension all the work in 3d once and it shows in all the views. I am all for this way of conveying the information across to the viewer in the simplest and clearest way possible. Nice.
  4. Your welcome, I will still draw in both 2d and 3d depends on what i need to do, if i am positioning something like in this image i will go plan 2d and move it in place then check in side view. I never say never so i play with it and see what works for me. Good luck and it can be frustrating learning this way but look for information on how things are done and it gets easier. Good Luck Also if you break you object into classes like say frame, lining, images etc you can turn the classes off and its not so confusing.
  5. Hi, The line type scale see my screen shot. Try adjusting it below 1 say 0.5 and play with a few maybe .2 etc, this will make the dashed lines different length by changing the number. This is only for the 3d lines at the back of the solid object.
  6. Hi, A picture may explain how easy it is to draw 2d and 3d directly onto a model like yours. I have drawn a few things onto your model, see it this may help to explain what I was trying to say. Hope this helps.
  7. Hi, If you change the line type scale in the advanced properties you can get it to show. if left at default it will probably be a solid line. If you set the line scale right to match the viewport you wont have to adjust this.
  8. Hi, Start drawing 2d in 3d especially if you are drawing on a 3d model. If you draw in side view the 2d object you are drawing sits at 0 which may be way beyond your model. So in 3d in rotated view you set your working plane to the face you want to draw on by double clicking the working plane tool on the face you need to dreaw on it locks the working plane on that face and icons show up and then whatever you draw is on that face. VW2015 is great for this.

  10. Hi, If I understand you correctly. If your file is getting large and you have different people working on plans and others on elevations I usually use VP referencing and not layer import, this way you don't end up importing all the information only view it. I use cropped VP ref for the plans to project all the internal elevations. You will have lots of repetitive items like basins etc so I create symbols for these. Breaking them up is ok as long as you don't move the items in the design layers that way your viewpoints don't have to be re-cropped to find the new location of the item. Always copy and replace in same location (Ctl Alt V). If you want to copy viewports from one drawing to another you group them, copy and past in the new drawing and ungroup then reactivate the design layers and they all refresh with the original information. Otherwise the computer says you cant copy viewports. HTH. See attached, Italics show that the plans are xrefed in and the highlighted plan is a Viewport, if you break the Xref your plans dissapear soyour file is small..
  11. Actually that was 3 on keypad but I am sure you figured that out. LOL
  12. Hi, Is this what you want to do?? Go into symbol, rotate and set to wireframe, set working plane to side and draw a rectangle by selecting the 2 corners of the table. This was drawn in 3d mode say 6 on keypad.
  13. Hi, This will help you. HTH
  14. Hi, Using VW2015 allows you to export a movie start time anywhere between 1.00am and 4.00pm and end movie anywhere between 8.00am and midnight. Have you looked at the Solar Animation tab and export movie? HTH
  15. Hi, Seems that gradients only show up in a 2d object, as soon as it becomes a 3d you lose the gradient. Shows when you edit the 3d object you see the original gradient 2d object. You can create your own gradient texture and put it on an object see attached
  16. Hi, Unless there is another way, the settings you have in your design layer dictates the hidden line qualities in the viewport. See attached each object has different line types and when hidden line is set in viewport they show as per attached. HTH.
  17. Hi, Could you post the VW file as I run up views of a renderworks camera and no lines.
  18. As soon as you put a texture on the object the decal button will become active.
  19. Hi, This is nice and makes me think. VW2015 allows this to be done easily as I have just found. Extrude a wall the size you want, put your image onto it then extrude a grid over it and subtract solid and the image stays across the overall wall and also the image can be scaled and rotated globally over the whole wall. Then you can manipulate the whole wall with the deform tool and the image stays with the shapes. I like this concept. Thanks for the inspiration.
  20. Actually a single progress bar showing the total time would be good. At present jumps back and forward showing progress of each part of the render.
  21. Hi, Sound weird, just did a few with the simple dialogue and complex both with bearing and azimuth and didn't matter where I started from the 0,0 it closed correctly. Go property line tool/ type in 100' in distance click add, type 90 degrees in the bearing and 60'in the distance then add, put 100" in distance and 180 in the degrees then add then ok. Should close and done. If you want the 0,0 and its way off just go tool/origin and reset to where you need or draw a line from you object and set one end of the line to 0,0 and then you can move the object to the end of line (0,0) Hope this helps
  22. Hi, Pretty sure that once you perform a few tasks like fillet you lose the history. Maybe this need to be added to the wish list.
  23. Hi, Don't you just change 1 window and then use the OI-shape an select the window then select the copy or apply. Trick I found (maybe better way) select the first window as the base then select the others that need changing, with all selected select the copy or apply then select copy from selected object and apply to the selected window objects. Make sure you only select the attributes to apply to the one you want ie trim and sill settings in your case hopefully click ok and all the sills will change. Trust this helps
  24. Hi, Just had an issue with VW2015 crashing instantly when trying to render a viewport on a large file. Worked well in 2008 but 2015, Bang.... Sent file to VW tech in Australia and after a while sent it to USA and between the 2 they figured out that I had drawn some fences using tapered extrude objects. They suggested I delete them and Bingo, all good. This is because a solid modeling kernel was changed to Parasolid in Vw 2009. This is a much more robust solids engine but it is also more strict in the base geometry it will accept. It doesn't like those tapered extrudes and so fails to section them. Generally speaking, you need to create tapered extrudes from planar 3D polygons, which was not the case here. So check your files or send off to VW teck. They were amazingly responsive, had a solution in 2 days, saved a lot of time at work and headaches.
  25. Hi, You might want to add in the option for the stop champher end to be either square as in the previous image or curves as this is how it comes out with the router. Regards
