  1. Ohm, nothing (?) had to go to Sonoma Preview Site to read what's in there .... Maybe, the PDF improvements or better spellchecking or so ? Honestly I did not think of new features when I upgraded. I am just used to upgrade everything ... And I usually have less problems with Betas and SP 0s than with final releases. But it has a larger number and larger numbers are better. And it is newer so it must be better.
  2. I am currently not familiar with Blenders export format options, if there would be any export that could get usefully imported into VW ... (maybe there is a Sketchup .skp export in Blender or something else by a Blender AddOn) Until there will be other ideas posted, my approach would be by IFC. I use the BlenderBIM AddOn. (Usually the other way round, to bring CAD Files via IFC into Blender) But BlenderBIM is a complete BIM IFC Editor. So you could apply IFC tags to all your geometry in BlenderBIM. (Could be as simple as selecting everything and just applying a basic IFC Element Proxy tag to all) Then these would all be part of the IFC File BlenderBIM saves externally. You could import that IFC into VW. (When creating a BlenderIFC project/file, For VW 2022,I would choose the older IFC 2x3 format)
  3. I have a Windows 11 PC too. But also do not really know how to make a screenshot on Windows. On Mac there are the mentioned short cuts, I read about them everywhere but can't remember them. For Mac I bought a nice App that allows me to set Projects that I can use from a list from Macs top Menu Bar. Each has its own custom file type, file path, screenshot type and auto naming options setup .... So on Windows, I would look for something similar in Windows Store. EDIT, Now that you said, AFAIR I use a Windows built in App for Screen Shots (and similar task options ?) but I can't remember its name and do not want to boot into Windows now. (something like "Ausschneiden" in my German language setting ?) It also does most basic screenshot things. At least the marque frame option, which I use 99% only.
  4. If no one has an idea of a source ..... I think it might be easier and an option to just use one of VW demo or tutorial files and export a Viewport or Sheet as PDF and use this (?)
  5. So far I haven't noticed any issues with VW 2023. But there is a similar post on the German Forum and so far they found 2 problems. - collapsed palettes do not always open automatically - EPS images appear empty or pixelated and won't be printed Sonoma Beta in general, I have temporarily issues from time to time everywhere. A restart helped. But nothing I could really reproduce.
  6. Not sure if I really got the problem .... But you can reference a File and bring it into your file as a Viewport on design layer. AFAIK you can create multiple Viewports from that file. And you can move/position these viewports where you want. What does only work in 2D is a Viewport Crop. But if I got that right and you just want to copy a referenced building file, multiple times on your site plan, I see no problems. You can adjust their Viewports in XY and Z height as you want.
  7. Maybe no new features to teaser this year (?)
  8. Unfortunately no. But that totally reminds me of a very old VW Video where a landscape artist showed such works with even more simplified plant symbols in elevations that looked soooo gorgeous ....
  9. And you can play with the "start in legacy mode" (?) settings in Windows. E.g. I can still run a 2004 (?) Microstation and my Autodesk Viz 2008 in my Windows 11. (AFAIK I went down to even Win XP compatibility)
  10. It does recalculate your view Window. I think VW usually does not need that. But it looks like certain bugs lead to a drawing view experience where you would want to try a view refresh. Disappearing Walls, loosing Window openings, ... and such things .... Sometimes in VW a VW restart may help instead, sometimes a whole computer restart or an "Update all PIO" or fixing a geometry center issue may help or it is just a bug.
  11. I thought I tried all but it would not work. Tried Extrude which also did not work. Have to try again. I often forget what VW tools works with which VW geometry or not .... I miss some consistency in general. It took me 3 or 5 years of VW to get that the (2D) Modify Tool also works on (some) 3D geometry and the way of editing slabs and roofs with other not expected tools.
  12. Heard that for the first time. But unfortunately can't test on my M1 Mini as I have no more any Apple Monitor. And my Wacom Cintiq will not make use of these keys but needs its own driver menu for changing brightness anyway.
  13. I think yes. But I am not 100% sure if VW would really create a relative file in such a way like : VW Main File / Folder / Reference File. I assume it would work in your case. (At lest I am pretty sure that it would not work if the Ref File would be in a parent folder above the VW file) The most secure thing may be to just place the Ref File in the same Folder beside the VW Main File though (?) And I think an "Absolute Path" would not work between e.g. Mac and Windows even if both access the same shared network drive.
  14. AFAIK Any kind of object that was created in a student license is contaminated. Even if you bring over the smallest traces of such an object or resource in to a commercial file, it would immediately contaminate and watermark that whole file ..... If you buy a commercial VW version after studies ended, VW will give you a certain period during which you can ask them to de-watermark all these files you created in the student version. So you should ask VW support to free ALL your old files. Do not try to import ANYTHING directly into your new commercial files .....
  15. VW is one of the few Apps with long time Mac Support and maybe a 50/50 Mac/PC User base. VW works totally fine on Macs. I switched to Apple in 2007 with the Intel Switch that allowed my to use my Windows Software. First with Bootcamp, later with VMware and Parallels VMs only until I finally switched to cross platform Apps and Mac completely. I never ever regretted to switch to OSX. Just that starting with 2013 did no more offer the workstation hardware (Mac Pro cheese grater( that I expected) Therfore I suffered with Apple terribly until 2020 when Apple announced the M1 SoC. During that time in 2018 I build a PC but had to realize that I would never be able or want to work with Windows again. Linux did not work either. So I suffered I went on with macOS instead and went suffering because of the missing Apple (affordable) Pro hardware. M1 Pro and Max were quite ok (only). But with M2 Max and Ultra now proper scaling, I finally feel confident again.
  16. AFAIK there are a few Door or Window configurations that do not really do good to Wall closures. For me it was a Door with a Transom - when also having a side light, it offered similar results. When Sidelight off it worked as expected. But hey, better a crippled Wall Opening than a completely disappearing Wall, which is a current issue ....
  17. And I just realized .... in TM, with a FBX import, you also have the "2-rotating arrow" symbol to "update" your import 🙂 Just in a hidden way like in Apple Mail when you have to mouse over a hidden area to check if a Mail has attachments or not that you could save .... But that FBX may not help the thread starter in VW to Blender (?) I am not experienced in Blender if there any "reference"-like modes that would allow an exchange ? (Usually Apps, like with IFC may swap UUIDs of Elements or Materials which will counteract your over-writings in the target App.
  18. I haven't tested for some time but I hoped it would work reliably meanwhile. The reason why I think real time renderers are the future and offline renderers like C4D physical renderer are deprecated, for is not so much about real time. I could live well with 15-20 min render times per camera with reliable C4D "render takes" batch rendering over night. It is more that these game engines and real time renderers can even handle thousands of plants and such things. Try to work with or render with thousands instances of 40 types of e.g. Laubwerk Plants in VW or C4D 🙂
  19. A few but I avoided them because of render times and various other reasons.
  20. Pity. I always thought IFC would solve this. I hope USD will finally do it for the 3D Apps. In the past, C4D Renderer (or even RW in VW) was always more than ok for my clients. I personally preferred Modo's Renderer or had VRAY for both. But at the time VW C4D Exchange finally worked, that workflow was far more helpful than exports. I think since a few years, beside C4D (+VRAY) VW has quite a few (real time)Renderer options via Exchange.
  21. I typically do 3D modeling and architectural visualization. But it got a bigger BIM the last few years.
  22. I used VW with C4D for about a decade nearly exclusively. Until I stopped upgrading when C4D went subscription. And the last job with VW 2022 (?) +C4D R21, I could no more get exchange to work on Windows, while it worked on Mac. (But at that time I preferred to work on the bigger PC vs the M1 Mini and switching between PC and Mac just for Exchange was a nightmare)
  23. At least we have Datasmith exchange, which required some effort for Epic and VW. Maybe similar for Enscape and Lumen exchange, (where Enscape is no standalone App and lives within VW ?)
  24. BTW, I think in the near future, the Export Format of choice for VW to 3D Render Apps will be USD of course. And the optimum for now would be a VW to Blender Exchange like that for C4D or Datasmith.
