  1. the pdfprinter does not need any margins for the printer to hold on to the paper. All printers have different printer margins, some small, some big... pdfprinter has none. you could make a custom page size for the pdfprinter that is the same size as your 1220c printer
  2. no, i think you can select all the dims, assign them all to a new dim standard and change the precision of all the dims with the Object info palette. My suggestion was also to help you in the future...
  3. As well as the tip Rafa sent you, you should look at making a dimension standard. From the menu bar choose File > Preferences > Document Preferences. Click on the Dimension Tab Click on the custom button Click on new Edit your standard. then when you get back to the Document Perferences choose your new dimension standards as the dimension standard. then all your new dims will use the new standard. If you edit the new standard then all the dims will update... This is covered in my Essential VW manual....
  4. isn't this what we have with sheet layers?
  5. I don't know of a quick way. I save the file as a series of copies. on each file I remove all the layers except one (a different one on each file). save each file and see which one crashes. when you find the layer, then you can look for unusual things.. if it's the LAN that's crashing, could there be something wrong with the network? is something else going on at the same time?
  6. where does the Z data keep changing? can you be a bit more specific. What dialog/palette are you looking at? describe what you are doing before the Z data changes..
  7. are you using vw11 is so have you tried the trim walls to roof command? If not is the roof in the same layer as the walls? If not layer link it so that it is. change to a 3D View and reshape the wall to snap on to the roof. This is covered in my VW Architect Tutorial https://vesta.safe-order.net/archoncad/manuals/manuals.php
  8. i'm not sure I understand what you mean. Are you saying that the layer setup (Z and delta Z) keeps changing, or are you talking about the information on the layer.
  9. I don't think you have anyhing to worry about, but if it was me, I would finish off this project in VW10, but start any new projects in VW11. When you use VW11 you will find some major changes in the way you can setup drawings, in the way that you place callouts and notes...
  10. petri, i use a two button mouse and I have swaped the mouse buttons over so that the left button is on the right side, for me it's more natural...
  11. the site model section is for creating a section cut through a site model, but the section doesn't have to be a straight line, in fact you have to use the ployline tool to draw a ployline. I don't use that command asmuch as I use the cut 3D section command.
  12. One of the earlier subscribers said that they can't think of another program that requires a modifier key to scoll/zoom... how about Photoshop?
  13. tony, the trick is to set the z and delta z heights of the wall before you start to draw. so set them up as you start the project. once you have set up the layers, you can then use the wall type tool to control the delta Z height of the walls separate from the layer delta Z, for walls like partitions... For more information refer to my Architect Turorial...
  14. no, not really. the right mouse click opens what they call the contextural menu. this menu changes depending on the context, that is if you click on an object of away from objects. The contectural menu is editable through the workspace editor and you can add menu commands to it. I have made some of my own simple menu commands and I have added these to the context menu along with things like paste in place, add surface, clip surface, etc. You can make the context menu into a very powerful menu... Oh yes, make sure you get a scroll wheel so that you can zoom in and out with the mouse.
  15. Katie, can't have somewhere on the help guide to tell us what these error messages are, and even better telling us how to fix the errors...
  16. it depends on your workspace. ifyou change to the standard workspace then it is Model > Architectural > Floor. if youmake your own workspace you can place it wherever you want.....
  17. I have never been able to what you want. On the other hand for the sheet title i was happy to put up with 3 separate lines of record format to fill in 3 lines of titl block. I notice that the issue manager manages to do what you ask, hoave text wrapping in the recorc fomat, so it must be possible, but I suspect that some trick script writing was involved... You may be ableto cut and paste a carriage return into the OIP.
  18. in VW11 there is an option on doors to "Show Overhead Lines" is this what you mean?
  19. I have found them to be very useful. I can set up a concept drawing showing 1:100 plan 1:50 plan enlargment 2 elevations 3d perspective site plan.... All you need is one design layer and a sheet with viewports. As you develop the pland and model, the drawing updates automatically.
  20. the lack od any winders makes this tool limited for use in domestic construction in New Zealand the extending handrails is essential for commercial construction in many conutries.
  21. this doesn't happen on my version of VW11.0.1
  22. the architect version of VW has what you want, but there is a way for you to make it yourself: make a custom symbol and link text to record to make it into a symbol that you can edit from the Object Info Palette. In the past I had a tutorial for this, now it's part of my Architect Turorial...
  23. If the referenced file came in like a symbol rather than a layer, then it would behave the way you wanted. Would that be nice?
  24. what is m2v format. could you use quicktime pro to change it from mov to m2v?
