Judy Cosgrove
Is there a way to set a default style for a viewport label? Specifically for Font Style, line weight, bubble scale factor, Drawing # size, and Title Text size? Quote Link to comment
0 Popular Post Pat Stanford
The label automatically added to a viewport is just a Drawing Label Object. Select the Drawing Label tool from the Dims/Notes tool set. Click the Wrench and Pencil icon at the right end of the mode icons to get to the Drawing Label Preferences. Set the preferences to what you like. The next time you create a viewport it will use these settings. 5 Quote Link to comment

0 MTRobin
What about the detail viewport label settings? Can I set a default for those? I would like the circle around the drawing number to be smaller and for it to default to Drawing No. Only. Thanks Maxwell Quote Link to comment

0 Jordan
Running into this weird thing where the "bubble scale factor" is greyed out and I cannot change this default property of the drawing label. Why is this happening and how do I fix this? Edited February 5, 2020 by Jordan Quote Link to comment

Hi all, It is my first message in the forum and I am using Vectorworks 2020 since March this year as I joined a new team in the office. I was a Revit user since 2007 and there are pros and cons on both programs. For the moment our team is using VW for 2D only as we all shifting from VW 2008 to 2020 now. We aim to shift to 3D modelling and implement BIM in the studio, so your guidance would be very helpful. Thanks, Pat, for your explanation above. It is useful when creating new labels, but is there a way to update all existing drawing labels on many different viewports and sheets in a project? Best, Andrius Quote Link to comment
0 Pat Stanford
I don't have time to test it all right now, but if you create a Worksheet and then Right Click on a row header and choose Create Report. Select Objects with a Record Drawing Label you should be able to add most of the fields you need to change. Type the change in the first cell you want to change and then copy it. Select all of the cells in that column of the report and Paste and the value will be entered to them all at the same time. Or use the Custom Modification command from the Tools menu. 1 Quote Link to comment

Yes. The custom Modification command will allow changes to all Drawing Labels at once. So, if you want to change them all, that's the fastest way to go. Once you click OK, you'll get a Properties dialog. Change only settings that you want to apply to ALL Drawing Labels, click OK and you're done. 3 Quote Link to comment
0 Pat Stanford
Or add additional criteria to limit the selection to just the drawing labels you want. ;-) What Matt meant was that everything you change when using Custom Modification is modified for EVERY object that meets the criteria, so don't change something like the Sheet Number or Drawing Number unless you really want that to be the same for EVERY label. 1 Quote Link to comment

0 Boh
I tend to use the worksheet method as it allows you to see all the drawing label object info and then you can choose which data to edit.. It allows you to see inconsistencies very quickly. Another bonus is you can save the worksheet in your library as a resource and use it again in other projects. Ive made a bunch of “Housekeeping “ worksheets for various PIO’s incl Drawing Labels some of which I shared in a post of mine in this thread. I’m pretty sure it included a worksheet for drawing labels. . Quote Link to comment
