Resize handles have disappeared on lines and shapes when selected

Hi,

 

Selecting lines and objects highlights them but WITHOUT the handles allowing resizing. Prefernece box is checked (see image attached).

 

I've tried restarting VW 2023 (Mac OS 13.2.1 on iMac 2019).

 

Any ideas?

Check which mode the Selection Tool is in. Sounds like you are in 1st mode, 'Disabled Interactive Scaling'

I notice this even in VW18.  It is only when I am working with NURBS and the Reshape tool.  

 

The object will stay highlighted, but no selection handles.  What I do is deselect it, then reselect it with the Arrow tool, and then reshape.  The handles seem to return then, but it is odd.

To expand on Tom's answer, the 2D selection tool has three modes, the first is No Interactive Resize. It means that if you have that mode selected you will be able to move the object but not resize it, so you will not get the selection handles.  The second and third modes are Single object and Multiple object resize respectively.

 

Check that you don't have the mode pointed to my the orange arrow in the screen shot below selected.

I always wondered what those symbols up there stood for and did.

 

The VW Community is just amazing. A graduate (and undergrad) education in Vectorworks.

Just ran into the same surprise. I was playing around with an imported 3d model (Photocatch) and apparently accidentally clicked on the "No Interactive Resize" button. Couldn't figure out what I had done, but, thanks to this group, I found the solution quickly. Thanks for rescuing me again!

What would prevent a window from being resized "taller"?  I can make windows wider, just not taller.

Is it doing the same in every file? Does it still do it after closing + reopening VW? I can't replicate it. I saw your other posts.
