  1. skfurn: Snow Leopard utilizes a newer version of CUPS. Check-out http://localhost:631/ Your spooling time-out issues may be related to a OS 10.6.2 change in the Driver & spool filepaths. Try re-installing the Gutenprint Drivers Gutenprint_Printer_Drivers_for_Mac_OS_X_v10_6
  2. For those of us who've been using computers since the dawn of the digital age the iPad is just another brilliant leap ... but for those just beginning the journey ... the iPad is a logical extension of the iPhone's mobile paradigm. It is as compelling for the next generation as driving the original 1950 Porsche must've been to all those 'motorists' accustomed to man-handling the standard production coupe'. It sparks the imagination ...brings one closer to the feel of the information...and since it has no moving parts or connections ... it takes flight. I can't wait to get one for my grandson ... just to see what he can do with it. All application developers, authors, and publishers will need to meet this challenge head-on or be stuck at a drive-in theater watching re-runs.
  3. In 2006 I created a tutorial : Image of Bolt with Threads exposed Here's the file: Bolt Thread tutorial Ancient history .. hope this helps.

    VR object

    Which version of Quicktime ?
  5. Try WGR ( Work Group Reference ) the damaged file into a new 2010 template. Using Create Layer Links ... then just break the links by eliminating the WRG and keeping the resources.
  6. A combination of approaches may work for you : PIO WallTool for the Bot&Top Plates ( Base & Head alignments ), Hybrid Symbol for the Inclined Wall. Associate Doors with the BasePlate wall ( height as required ). Not perfect but usually good enough for government work ; )
  7. odd thing ... VW promotes its' superior file organization capabilities ( Layers, Classes,Hybrid Symbols, Referencing, worksheets,PIO ) & presentation ( Sheets ) flexibility, but still stumbles when translating them into generic DWG !
  8. Do you have 'Stack Layers' Active ? Have you tried exporting from a Sheet ?
  9. A few proven Ways to avoid the PDF conversions problems: 1) Post your project PDF files to a secure server ( send only links ) so that changing the submittals is both organized and universal. 2) Ask all recipients to declare their hardware/ OS/PDF versions, then format sheets as required. 3) Don't be dismayed that what seems to work fine on your iMac refuses to perform on older less flexible systems, afterall ...OSX is native PDF.
  10. PDF files contains the original page set-up description. The way to change it is to open the file in Preview , then rotate to correct the orientation , and "Save As" >PDF . Finally, re-import the modified file into VW.
  11. Turn-off anti-aliasing ... wherever you encounter it.
  12. All Data regardless of the source must have the option to be either Static ( Representational ) or Dynamic ( Interactive ). Naturally, the latter requires significantly more Resource sophistication than the former.
  13. Exact to nominal whole number fractional dimensions utilizes rounding up or down. 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, ... 2/3, 3/4 ... Decimals on the other hand are powers of ten increments depending on the decimal units setting. The procedure works exactly as intended.
  14. As long as yo have control of the File via workstation User or Server, the Files have OS Owner-Group-Other , read-write-execute permissions which can be set to constrain or prevent editing.
  15. What does the 'Error Output" say ?
  16. The Drawing Border has the opiton for selecting the TitleBlock type> TB uses a TB Symbol located via the Resource Browser >Drawing Border Components. The TB Symbol has an Attached Record. I insert the Drawing Border with TitleBlock on a DesignLayer and then link to it via VP. So removing the Layer Link via VP>OIP is the easiest solution. Did you create the TB on DL or VP ?
  17. Now that's an overstatement. Although, I readily admit to being a fool : ) Here's a worksheet for doing some simple calculations based on standard practices. ConcreteShearMomentBeam worksheet.xls
  18. I'm in complete agreement with Kool Aid .. just because you can view it doesn't necessarily mean that it is 'measurable' from that plane of view. In the example given the assumption is that the ramp is parallel to the SideView. If that ramp was turned and pitched like.. say.. a parking garage spiral, no amount of 2D angular fiddling would get it right. The lesson here is that you need to be especially mindful when applying 2D Tools to 3D Objects. Hence the applicability of the WorkingPlane Tool to set the plane for measurements between 3D oriented objects nonparallel to the standard Top-Front-Side viewing planes.
  19. You may need to select "Use At Creation" to get the attributes to stick.
  20. Looks like a TitleBlock corruption combined with some Crop issues. 1) Eliminate the TitleBlock 2) Edit>Crop>Select All>delete
  21. You will need to add some Specularity & Diffusion to that texture ... possibly even an image bump. Try "Multi-Layered Paint"...
  22. Modify> Convert to Generic Solids The increase in the filesize is the editing / undo history for that object.
  23. When you create a Symbol with both 2d & 3d parts it becomes a Hybrid. The missing parts in 2d can be added by editing the symbol in 3d and adding the 2d objects.
  24. Any PPC running 10.4.11 or earlier with Classic v9.02 installed should also work. A Minicad Translator v9 for all prior versions exists in the archives.
  25. Try setting a working plane to the Box top then pulling off of that .
