Very cool! I will come back and amend this review once I see if I can get it to work for my specific use case, but it's still a 5-star script. I just want ot come back and note it's limitations. I have been looking for ways to turn an obj mesh into a terrain without doing a whole bunch of crazy steps. I wanted to skip Sketchup and bring my terrain mesh in from my photogrammetry software to develop a DTM in VW. with as large as my meshes are, I don't think this script is going to cut it, but i was able to bring in plenty of meshes in the 5-digit poly range. i've been letting it chug on my 75M poly mesh for some time, and I'm not sure if it is just competely hung at this point. haha. But i do not fault the script, as it is clearly stated it was deveoped to bring in SU google earth tiles which are very low poly. Anyway, cool script! thanks for making it!

we went m1 Max 64GB across the board in our office. We've played this game before, and when you project the cost across the projected viability for your work, I would be surprised if you don't land on the same conclusion. It's particularly important now that EVERYthing is integrated to the chip. I projected about 3 good years of usability with the m1 pro (~$75/mo/lifespan), and 5.5years with m1 max ($56/mo/lifespan).

Vectorworks 2022 and 2021 Mac 16" M1 Max
angelojoseph replied to Eric Chase's question in Troubleshooting
Same issue. I have many files in the office that we have all been working on. Everyone upgraded to 16" MBP M1 Max 64GB and VW22. Almost every old file we load crashes or hangs VW indefinitely. Also, when we do get something to load, it converts symbols to shapes, and does not allow us to select them without using the Force Select command. we cannot use the object selection tool to select them or to move them. SUPER annoying. Otherwise I have noticed marked improvements over our i7-based imacs with the radeon r9. (mid-2015) -
any possibility of these files and links being restored? resources for vectorworks are pretty poor, and these threads offered at least a modicum of assistance (when working)

Hey Benso, any chance you could reupload this file? I am curious to the techniques you suggest. Thanks so much!

Yes. There are no issues through any other software or accessing and/or editing files in those folders. -

VW 2018 - "The file save operation failed" when saving to network
angelojoseph posted a question in Troubleshooting
This was posted under the 2018 thread, but I am having the issue on 2020 VW Designer. I have been having this issue now for several weeks. Updated to 2020 and it did not solve the problem. I get "(failure to attempt to write to file)" in a window 4 times in a row. That is, clicking ok only brings the warning up again four times. Then a final message box that says: "An error occurred while saving this file. This file is now corrupt on disk. Try saving this file to a different location. If you close this file before you successfully save it, it will be completely lost" I am the only one with the issue in the office. I have no other issues saving to the sharepoint in other software I can save the file to my hard drive and then drag it to the shared folder with no issues. -
I agree. And I actually think there could be creative ways to make the other functions remain clean. Lumion has some nice symbols that depict complex ideas that are only whit on grey (as tshelton effectively created above - kudos to him). And those marketing videos always grind my gears. SOMEONE understands that creative professionals want this interface took beautiful, unfortunately it's marketing and not the UI/UX team.

Russ, you've laid it out quite succinctly. One thing of note, as I am currently dealing with this, is that VW is very easy to train on due to it being GUI-based, with intuitive hot keys. Daftsmen are quickly trained due to the core elements being so intuitive. I had a new grad drafting in 2 days, and with the standardized templates and class system being wrapped up in the office this winter, that process should be done in a day. The designer functions are the trickier items, but there is always going to be an on-boarding process due to ACADs need for plug-ins, workarounds, or convoluted processes to achieve a firm's particular style. Anyway, your original post was spot on, as you were here. I don't think it comes off as petty. I think VW must recognize this as well, due to the high visual design of their marketing material and their stylized representation of functions within. I thought it very telling that those were the videos you show to sell the software, as does VW. 😉

There was a post here that seems to have since been deleted from @RussU that I think was interesting regarding the look and being results driven. I totally understand that point of view, but for anyone having an outward-facing design business, perception is very important. Looking the part is important to instilling confidence, as well as reinforcing perceived competence. I'd like to be able to share my screen and not have someone think I'm working on a fresh copy of "DIY Homebuilder Pro" from Home Depot. Appearances are important, no matter how little stock engineers hold in them... sorry, i couldn't resist. 😉

use polyline; freehand; or, draw a circle and 3-sided poly, add the faces, then clip at appropriate space to mirror a heart

If I remember correctly, that has to do with setting visibilities of detail at scale
