  1. I hadn't looked at it before directly and maybe i'm missing it too but I don't see anywhere that it understands the story, just the layer. I always assumed that spaces would include story info by default as well. Submitting now as a request.
  2. It looks like this can be controlled in viewports via Advanced Properties, with both Line Weight Scale and Line Type Scale options. Do you mean an option to control it outside of viewports, or that the dashed lines scaling and weight controls should be separated from regular non-dashed lines?
  3. Doesn't look like it is, submitting now. Just for the notes, what is it you are attempting to do that the option would be helpful for, if I may ask?
  4. To import the DWG as referenced should be an option in the Import DWG dialogue in 2014. If you want to be able to edit the imported data, delete that referenced DWG and import the DWG into the new file without the referencing option enabled, it should then behave just as in previous versions.
  5. I would say its unlikely, only because Hidden Line is one of the rendering modes that does not depend on the GPU heavily. OpenGL and Wireframe/Top Plan utilize the graphics card but Hidden Line and the other Renderworks modes mostly do not.
  6. This works the majority of the time, but there are some situations still where if the objects are within groups or viewport annotations that they may not come up in Custom Selection/Modification. These are going away more and more now, but there are still cases where it doesn't have full access to all objects.
  7. If you render a viewport in just Hidden Line, does it appear as expected? If so, you can layer a hidden line viewport over your original viewport, giving it no fill, which should emulate the same appearance as the background/foreground viewport, as a workaround. However, please send the file where that is happening along with this from your Mac Pro: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/627/DirectX+Diagnostics+and+System+Profiler to tech@vectorworks.net and we can have a look.
  8. If they were assigned to their own class(es) it can be done that way, however if they were already placed and were not classed separately from other geometry I do not think there is a way to bulk modify them after the fact.
  9. Was going to submit this but someone beat me to it, its on the list.
  10. After setting the 3D view, if you go to View > Perspective, is it set to "Normal"? under View > Projection, is it set to "Perspective"?
  11. This should be of some help as well: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/1013/Creating+a+3D+Painting
  12. Yup, this was submitted recently. I'll add this thread to it.
  13. The answer when it comes to Vectorworks, surprisingly, is only sometimes. In Renderworks renderings, yes the Mac Pro will knock the stuffing out of the Mac Mini. For regular top/plan operations or geometry calculations, the speed is currently limited by the software to a greater extent than the hardware and for things like duplicating an object thousands of times, they would probably complete the action in around the same amount of time. Moving forward however, upcoming releases of Vectorworks will be able to take advantage of the greater hardware and everything in Vectorworks will be faster and more stable by far on the Mac Pro compared to the Mini.
  14. DOH completely forgot about that. Yes, most likely you would want Space Label Symbols set up for each scale, you can them save them as a resource and use them in other documents, but you would indeed need to set them all up the first time. (Someone here may know a slicker way, I am regularly trumped when it comes to workflow suggestions here )
  15. You should still be able to do this with Vectorworks 2011, Modify > Scale Objects with the text selected, and making sure that "Scale Text" is checked at the bottom of the Scale Objects dialogue box should allow you to rescale the text as desired. Alternatively, if you need to rescale the geometry and the text is ALREADY too big, you would select the geometry and then uncheck "Scale Text" then scale up the geometry and the text will remain in the same location relative to the other objects, but will not change in size. These may help explain the scale command and the different kinds of scaling a little more: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/1203/Scaling+Text+Symbols+and+other+resources http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/449/Scale+by+Distance http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/1204/Design+Layer+Scale+and+Object+Scale
  16. Can you make this happen repeatedly with a particular set of objects or is it random? If you restart the program, does it resume working properly for awhile or does the problem happen again right away?
  17. If you don't see them after that, its usually worth a preference reset: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/1099/Resetting+Vectorworks+Preferences
  18. At the far bottom right of Vectorworks, to the right of the data bar where the X/Y/Z values should be, there is a small arrow, if you click that, do you see the settings for which axis to show? Normally you would select the first one, then you should see all the relevant coordinates for the cursor:
  19. 1) The main difference you will see here is in the speed of Renderworks renderings. Even the lowest processor offered in that machine is more than enough for regular drafting, but the higher end models will extremely reduce rendering time. When it comes to Renderworks, the more cores the better. 2) Graphics cards will not affect flat Renderworks renderings, but the more powerful the card the better Plan/wireframe navigation and OpenGL will be, especially in upcoming releases. 3) Its unlikely you will be able to push Vectorworks/Renderworks hard enough to use more than 12GB of RAM on its own, anything over 8GB is usually plenty.
  20. If you mean the ones Christiaan submitted, unfortunately no, still working on them. It isn't looking like something that can be patched quickly.
  21. This is the best spot at the moment: http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=12&page=1 I keep an eye on this and forum members hash out whether the items are already there and just not obvious, if its a feature that should be added and how it should be implemented. (I think only employees, distributors and beta testers can submit them directly via our internal tracking software, but I am not positive. I'll find out because I really should know that...)
