    Marionette

Fabulous, Thanks, I didn't look far enough down the forum list and find the new Marionette Section. Now I can get into this.

Thanks for this. Can you point me to the best place to learn this and is there a list of the nodes and what they all do that I can download? Have done a little bit of gaming programming before but this is all new to me so I am a real NOOB here with this.
  3. What you do is draw a Nurbs curve from each front corner point of the treads for the outside and inside of the stair. Then draw 1 across the bottom between the ends of the nurbs. Then loft with the Birail sweep mode and select solid and you get this. Then lower it to the bottom. Or trace the bottom edge of the stair treads. The bits poking out of the stair on plan you can trim off with the split tool. HTH
  4. Yes, Thanks even if you have this on screen plane and move it up as soon as you EAP it drops straight back down to the working plane. Always learning.

Also if I render this script in top plan mode I get a entirely different result if I render in 3d Mode. Now am very new at this so its the end result I am interested in, but any comments on the method and ways to do it better always welcomed.
  6. This is a subdivision and textures wont render the same as a solid object because it is made up of meshes and there is no way to map the textures. If you try a brick pattern you will truly see the issue. I think only solid colours work on a subdivision object.
  7. Hi, No this should not happen. I drew a line and a floor to check that it did not drop. Moved the line above the zero working plane level, went into front view and extruded along path and the object stayed at the same level.
  8. For Windoor -In the Window OIP select pens and colours and change them there to the colours you want. this will change for all window or just the one selected. If not using windor I think you have to set the colours by setting the components of the window to use different classes in the OIP under Settings / Classes HTH

Yes it still runs like this LOL. Small part happens to be not on Screen plane. The moved parts can be seen and the result is ghosted as I rotated to 3d. I have since re-did the script and no issues this time.

Hi, trying to get the hang of marionette and wonder if others are having the same issue that if I move a block it separates all the links to some items, They show linked when moving but are not linked when stop moving the block.???? Also unwrapping seems to pull it apart also. I must be doing something wrong as I am new to this.
  11. The simplest way to do the soffit is to draw a nurbs curve clicking on all the bottom back corners of the treads for each side of the stair and then loft between and you get the smooth bottom to the stair. HTH
  12. A simple way to do this is to extrude along path. Once you got the wall you can punch holes in the wall using automatic working plane and push pull. Wall Style? Cant use at present to create this. HTH
  13. Jim, Found that yes the fasted way to get the GDI handles up is to mouse over the attributes info pallet and within a few minutes of continually mousing over and off the program crashed exactly on 10,000 GDI handles.
  14. I had to explode your 3d Hardscape as I don't have landscape version. Once I did this I could edit the object then edit again to get to the base 2d polygon for the object and found it was on the None class and when I change the class of the original polygon to asphalt the 2d and 3d was textured.
  15. Agreed you should know but it is very helpful if you need to import someone else's drawing like a CAD file or Survey. But I usually like to reference the file into mine rather than importing it in.
  16. Have you tried using Class and Layer Mapping Go Tools/Class and Layer Mapping. Its great for combining and grouping imported classes into separate groups of your own liking and naming to minimise all the clutter. HTH
  17. Hi, Your polygon that you started with is on class None and it has no fill and has not been ticked to use at creation, change the polygon onto the asphalt class and it will show textures. Many of the problems regarding textures come back to the class not using a fill and ticked Use at creation, without these set any textures you set usually wont show. HTH

    Roof bug

Hi, This has been noted as a bug as I understand. Turn off class in top plan view and you can’t touch it, Rotate to 3d (hit 1 on keyboard) and you can’t see it, go back to top plan view and it’s still on. To turn it off - With the class on in top plan view rotate to 3d and turn class off, rotate back to top lane and its off. Strange behaviour.
  19. You could make your own in Photoshop like the attached.
  20. Hi, If you migrate your workspace over to 2016 the Wall~Slab folder will come over, if not your wall style will not be there because 2016 has a Wall~Slabs~Roof folder and you need to put it in there. Alternatively and better still create a Workgroup folder of put it into your user folder. I use a workgroup as it is good for the office. See middle image for the Wall styles PCA.vwx file in the correct folder in workgroup. When opening the wall styles you will see this in your favourites location. HTH
  21. Hi, Try Marionette, I would guess you could have each panel texture generate different images and rotations. I'd help if I had any idea how it worked, unfortunately I am not a programmer.
  22. I have recently found that when things dissapear you can still select then but appear transparent so I change then to another class that's on then back to the original class and they become visible again. Also if the roof wont turn off sometimes I found if you rotate it to 3d its gone but back to 2d it appears. I flip to 3d and turn the roof class on and off and then when you go back to 2d they are off. Strange behaviour.
  23. has anyone else noticed that the textures for the attic in the roof are not able to be controlled separately but are controlled by the roof top even though there is one specific for attic which doesn't appear to work?
  24. Jim thanks for the update, I will do what you suggest and monitor the results. Am persisting with 2016 because it's no use sticking your head in the sand, I am keen to use it to its max. Thanks.
