Can't view objects in 3D unless selected - noob alert

I've followed the instructional videos to the letter and have a 2d layout imported which I can see in Top/Plan view, and I've created walls on a separate layer that can also be seen in Top/Plan view, however, when in any 3D view - including wireframe(!) - they are 'invisible' unless selected.  I've assigned a colour to them as well (dark grey).

I'm completely stumped...

Go to View > Unified View and make sure that option is turned on.

Then, go to View > Layer Options and set it to Show/Snap or Show/Snap Modify Others. That should clean things up.

Yes, Unified was already on, and Layer Option change had no affect, still only visible when selected.

Interestingly, I see both the imported plan and the walls in Sketch render.

It appears everything is hidden in some way, if I select hidden line from the render menu, I can see everything in a wireframe view.  So now my question I guess is how do I un-hide everything?

Do the objects have a both a fill and pen style assigned to them? It sounds like they may not. With an object selected, check in the Attributes palette and make sure both the fill and pen aren't set to "None".

Yes the walls have a grey colour (solid) and a black pen colour (solid) assigned to them.

Can you post a screen shot of what you are seeing that includes a selected object, the Object Info Palette and the Navigation Palette? This would help us diagnose the problem.

...And now right isometric with everything selected.  These were all with Wireframe selected from the render dropdown.

 

 

This last one is right isometric, nothing selected, Hidden Line in Render dropdown.

Looks like the current graphics driver on that machine is from 2009, which could definitely cause something like this. Close Vectorworks, then download and install the following:

http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/110262/en-us

Reboot your machine entirely, then relaunch Vectorworks and tell me if it behaves differently.
