Screen Plane and Layer Plane Switching

Hi All,

I hope this is a simple one - I'm having problems with the 'Plane Mode' options in Document Preferences. I keep selecting 'Screen Plane Only', as we are working on a 2D drawing all previously drawn in the screen plane. However it frequently appears to switch to 'Layer Plane Only', and I can't work out why.

Perhaps there is some shortcut key command I keep inadvertantly pressing? Or some sort of saved view setting/trigger I am not aware of?

I thought perhaps it would be something to do with using my saved views, but this doesn't seem to be the case.

Any ideas?

If you set it to Screen again manually, then go and edit a viewports crop boundary and confirm the edit, do you notice that it has switched back to Layer Plane?

Ive been experiencing the same thing. I just performed the action you described above and noticed that it had reverted to working plane.

Thanks for your response - Yes I have been able to replicate the problem with that method. Is this a bug? Or does vwx do this for some other reason I am not aware of?

If you set Vectorworks to use screen plane only, it should not switch to layer plane in that case so it seems to be a bug, unless you are using non-planar tools then it could switch to layer/working plane if I understand the descriptions correctly. (it's a bit ambiguously explained imho in the dialog)

Just encountered this issue today and confirmed that the switch happens when editing a Viewport Crop.

 

Is this scheduled to be fixed?

Im using VW2017 now and have already changed this setting 5 times today on one file.

Will this be fixed in a service pack or next version?
