Iainy1961
I tried to darken the performance space and this happened. I don't know what I have done wrong. Suddenly curtains have become translucent, black walls have become grey. The floor has turned a greyish green. I have attached a copy of the file. Thank you, Iain Victory 2024 ver2-Backup-20240315183815-Backup-20240316132650.vwx Quote Link to comment
Kevin K
Lainy, you mentioned what was wrong, but can you be a bit more specific as to how you DO want those items to appear?? I downloaded the file and will have a look... Quote Link to comment
Iainy1961
Well, the curtains started off black. The outside walls were black. Suddenly the class is greyed out on some of the curtains. I did something bad, just don’t know what it was. Thank you for you time Iain Quote Link to comment
Iainy1961
@Kevin K Sorry I didn't really answer your question. Before I started fiddling about with the ambient light in my model, the colours were black. This, as you probably surmised, is a TV studio. So everything is black, and I was trying to lower the ambient light so I could focus the lights. That's when it all drifted away from the plan. Kevin K
Let's try. this again....first, I am NOT a spotlight person and you seem to be, so can't really help you there. are the walls supposed to be black? are the curtains supposed to be black?? You need to try to convey exactly how you want those items to appear so you intend to have interior views and renderings? seems like that is where you are headed.?? Quote Link to comment
Kevin K
I do a lot of rendering.....sort of my thing, and I will say interior lighting in VW can be a challenge to get it to look correct. Not impossible at all. but you need to mess with the lighting a bit. Is your intent to have sort of a dark interior look?? But still have things more or less be visible? Or do you want a fairy bright interior look? Quote Link to comment
Iainy1961
This might clear it up for you. I did this in Light Converse. This is how it should look. Quote Link to comment
Andy Broomell
It seems to be due to the 53 Lighting Device objects on the "4 Vic LX-Tubes 3d" class. If you turn that class off I believe it's closer to what you expect. To fix, you might select those devices, click Edit, and change the Brightness to a lower value. 3 Quote Link to comment
Kevin K
Lainy, yes that helps a lot 🙂 I see the look you are after. Maybe add to the mix what Andy mentioned, as he seems to be very up tp speed with Spotlight stuff. 1 Quote Link to comment

I opened the file, turned those fixtures off, set all the ROBE beam angles to narrow, added fog to them and voila. 2 Quote Link to comment
Iainy1961
@mjm @kevin K @Andy Broomell Thank you everyone. Still trying to figure out the nuances of this program. There are a lot it appears. Quote Link to comment

Things which can be done in a few clicks in Capture or LC or similar just cannot be done quickly in RW. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted March 20 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted March 20 @Iainy1961 You might start a thread in Showcase group about your file. We should be able to replicate what you want, with pre-viz as well. https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/clubs/ 1 Quote Link to comment

Iainy1961
@mjm What is the Showcase group? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted March 26 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted March 26 Hi @Iainy1961 Showcase is a project to add pre-visualization features directly into Vectorworks. There is a private forum group for this where you can get preview builds and have discussion about this set of features. https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/clubs/ 1 Quote Link to comment
