Ability to bookmark specific posts within the forum software
Christiaan posted a question in Forum Feedback
@JimWcould you have a look to see if there are any ways to add bookmarking for specific posts within the forum? Every now and then I come across posts that I'd like to save for easy recall, little gems like this: https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/53072-large-files-on-v-2018/&tab=comments#comment-266265 The reason I'd like bookmarking within the forum software rather than using an external bookmark solution is that URLs can change over the years with forum upgrades, so internal bookmarks are more likely to remain in place over the years. -
There are very often troubleshooting threads started by newly signed-up forum users, which have the username as the thread title. There must be something in the sign-up process that is causing this to happen. If threads don't have meaningful titles, they are less likely to get responses or show up in future searches by people trying to solve similar issues.

Since the "Forum" subforum was created all the threads below have been posted (or moved to) here by mistake. I suspect because people simply see the name "Forum". So can we change the name to "Forum Feedback"? Hopefully that will drastically cut down on people posting here by mistake. Can a moderator also please move these threads to the appropriate subforums? (I'm also happy to be made a moderator and do it myself) https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/105518-wanted-2x-vw-2020-architect-license/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/104635-selecting-spaces-in-vw-2023/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/105466-landscape-twinmotionvectorworks-workflow/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/105392-softgoods-v2022-and-class-over-rides/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/102863-change-title-block-styles-from-worksheet/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/102864-search-resource-manager-by-symbol-data-not-physical/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/102345-asla-free-expo-passes-for-san-francisco-2022-not-working/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/102496-still-can-not-post-images-to-forum/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/103191-worksheet-failure/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/103205-wall-component-join-at-corner-can-it-be-curved-on-the-lower-part/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/103410-auto-save-custom-location-resets-to-default-save-over-original-after-every-service-pack-update/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/103746-does-anybody-outside-europe-do-bim-here/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/103741-data-manager-does-anybody-outside-the-german-speaking-area-really-use-it/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/104158-cmla/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/104161-light-lense-rendering/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/103828-need-help-finding-a-decent-cedar-shingle-hatch/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/104356-hi-the-vectorwork-is-often-freezing-and-no-responding/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/104630-what-hardware-is-required-for-the-new-10-january-vcs-features/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/104654-wanted-2x-vw-2020-architect-license/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/105209-keynotes-use-the-first-42-characters-of-the-note-for-description/ https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/topic/105271-changing-equipment-profile/ Edit: all moved now

Something I've always wished we had is a Wiki area of the forum that the community could use to create its own resources. Perhaps by way of the Pages feature of Invision Board? But to be successful it would need to be open Wiki style of creation and editing rather than a top-down bureaucratic process, and the problem with the Pages feature in Invision Board is that it doesn't have any moderating features that I can see. An example of what such a feature could be used for is to take a thread like this, distilling and elaborating on the answers to create a page explaining all the different resources one might encounter on the internet and how they relate to creating Textures in Vectorworks:

Strikethrough text format when writing posts on forum
Christiaan posted a question in Forum Feedback
It would be great if we had strikethrough as a text formatting option when writing posts, along with bold, italics and underline, -
On my machine, the normal layout seems to end up with the Insert Other Media button vertically above the Submit button on posts. Often when I am posting, especially a response, the Submit button has scrolled off the bottom of the screen. If I am going quickly, I often fail to scroll down far enough and hit the Insert Media button. Then I have to close the dialog that pops up before ending the correct button. I would like to see the button moved somewhere, maybe all the way to the left edge of the media box. This would make me less likely to accidentally hit it. I probably only attach media to 1 in 10 posts, so having this button slightly less accessible would not be a problem (for me.) Anyone agree?

Can we have a forum menu link for Groups? https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/clubs/ I missed out on some amazing resources in one Group I belong to because I didn't realise it existed for 5 years!

Can we have the ability to add Tags in all subforums?
Christiaan posted a question in Forum Feedback
Can we have the ability to add Tags to posts in all subforums? I can add Tags to people's posts in some subforums but not others (this forum subforum for instance). -
Have we lost the ability to add reviews of content on the forum?
Christiaan posted a question in Forum Feedback
For example go here: https://forum.vectorworks.net/index.php?/files/file/270-story-replicator-geschosskopierer/&tab=reviews How do you add a review? I don't see any option to. -
The Wishes Granted sub-forum hasn't had any posts added to it for about 5 years now. It needs somebody actively managing this and moving posts every time there's an update to Vectorworks. But rather than pay somebody to do this it would be far better in my opinion to let us users do it. The way I would organise this is to get rid of the "Wishes Granted" sub-forum and handle it with Tags ("wishes granted"). Then let users (or a subset of users based on a certain level of Reputation) add Tags to other people's threads**. Many hands make light work. Even if we get it wrong sometimes it's no big deal; it's easily fixed and sure beats the current situation, which is that the "Wishes Granted" sub-forum is out of date by 5 years. ** in fact the ability to add Tags to other peoples posts in general—not just Wishes, any threads—would be a positive thing in my opinion. We could help organise a lot of older posts this way and make it much easier to retrieve information.

Correct configuration of all-day events in Community Calendar
Christiaan posted a question in Forum Feedback
This is what the community calendar looks like when subscribed to in Apple's Calendar.app Can the all day events be configured correctly in the forum software so they show as all-day events in Calendar.app (a small bar at the top of each day)? -
I see a little "Solutions" badge has popped up next to our names, next to the existing one for the number of posts we've made. This is a great idea. Can we also have a Solutions leaderboard widget, like the Popular Contributions widget?

Ability to upvote responses to my own trouble-shooting posts
Christiaan posted a question in Forum Feedback
We seem to have lost the ability to upvote posts and mark posts as Solutions in our own our own trouble-shooting threads. Can we have this ability back please? And can Solutions get pinned to the top of the thread, under the original post (as well as remaining in their place in the thread)? -

What happened to forum user reputation buttons on posts?
Jake DeGroot posted a question in Forum Feedback
We used to have buttons on all posts to plus or minus user reputation for the author, right? I am not seeing those any more. Did you remove them on purpose? @JimW -
It would be great to have an official status for each wishlist item, like they do with Wordpress: https://wordpress.org/ideas/ Status examples could be: This wish is under consideration (the default) This is plugin territory Duplicate of another wish Sorry, not right now Good idea, we're working on it! This wish has been implemented

How can i edit my signature in the new VWX forum to automatically include my VWX version (eg. VWX 2014 Architect) into all of my posts ?

I wonder if we could get a couple of small improvements to the mobile forum website to improve its usability for regular users of the forums - I would love the header bar to be static in the mobile theme. I would love more space between the notification (bell) icon and the mail icon. Its too easy to hit the wrong one. I would love my custom stream to be more easily accessible. In the desktop theme, its always available as a link in the upper right hand corner. In the mobile theme I have to dig down Menu>Activity>My Activity Streams and then scroll to the bottom to choose it. Because I only ever want to see my own stream on the go I am constantly go through these steps. Thanks, Kevin

Better spam prevention techniques need to be implemented for the User Forum, as junk spam posts are becoming a nuisance on a regular basis. @JimW- If the preventative 'IPS Spam Montioring Services' outlined on this page are activated, they don't seem to be working very well.

Could you please add python syntax-highlighting for posting code to the forum. Thanks

This might be happening because the upgrades to the Knowledgebase are too new, but this is what I get when I click on the Knowledgebase link. I'm using iOS 9 on iPad Air 2.

I am noticing that many of the old forum posts are no longer available. I often will run a google search for help articles relating to topics and find several posted forum results pertaining to my issue, only to find that the articles are still linked through the old forum and I can no longer access them. Since many of my questions have probably been answered at some point, it would be great to access all that information somehow. The following is a search that yielded a post with the direct question I was looking to answer, but I can't see the answers! https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=round up in vectorworks worksheet formula

So we think that we may have a fix lined up to globally restore all the attachments from posts made prior to the forum upgrade without disrupting the new forum as a whole. However, this fix will likely have to come when we do our second or third round of forum enhancements, which don't have set dates yet. As I am not a fan of waiting, Web team was nice enough to set me up with a tool that lets me manually extract the attachments from the old forum and place them on the new one manually. This would be too slow of a process for me to fix every post in this manner, but it does let me restore them as needed. If you find an old thread that is missing an attachment you need, simply mention @JimW in a reply to that thread or otherwise get my attention and I can restore any missing attachments in that thread. These restorations will be permanent fixes for any threads I edit manually and will remain even after we fix them globally. Again, apologies for the delay in restoring these attachments, but for now I hope to be able to accommodate any needs users have quickly and efficiently. Thank you.
