  1. Good morning folks, I'm running into a weird thing. We use callouts placed as keynotes in our annotations to identify elements of our drawings. We usually put a keynote legend on a design layer so we can viewport it onto the revenant sheets or have a separate keynote legend for every sheet. In the past I've also made worksheet databases filtered by sheet to display the keynote identifier and description specific to keynotes on that sheet. Often this leads to many worksheets in the resource browser (one for every sheet) and if a formatting update needs to happen, it needs to happen on each worksheet. I started playing with graphic legends with "Filter by Viewport" and was successful in creating a keynote legend that's a graphic legend style and easily adjusted graphically / specify which viewports I wanted it to look at. But now the weird thing... Where the worksheet will sort the callouts based on the keynote identifier in ascending order (1, 2, 3, 4 ,5 ,6, 7, 8 ,9, 10 ,11, etc) the graphic legend does it a little differently (1, 10, 11, 13, 2, 3, 4 ,5 ,6, 7, 8 ,9). I've attached screenshots below to illustrate. I have both worksheet and graphic legend set to sort by keynote identifier and short of going the custom order path with the graphic legend, I can't figure out how to get them displaying in the correct order. I've changed the identifiers to letters but I think it's only a visual change and VW identifies each callout by a number in the background. One solutions I've been mulling but haven't properly worked out are attaching a custom record format to each callout (through the data manager) and having it pull the keynote identifier into a formula of some kind to add a "0" to the front of any single digit identifier. The database route might work as I could add a number to the "Notes Description in Database" section and have the graphic legend sort that way but it seems like a lot of work just to get the notes sorted properly.   2. Hi All It would be great to be able to customise the keynotes beyond what is currently possible. For instance, the same way a Detail Callout can be. This way you could create good looking Keynote markers (aligned etc) linked to the list. Effectively allowing you to create a drawing list. It would also be good to "start" the numbering of a keynote from any given point, this way you could automate the drawing numbers, even if you have a different list of drawings assigned to the same project. I have attached an example Detail Callout that would be great as a keynote callout. Also how the list could look with "Drawing number; Description". (ignore my numbering for now) If this exists already please let me know. Thanks
  3. Today I duplicated a Sheet Layer which had a bunch of Callouts placed as Keynotes in a SLVP Annotations. Much to my surprise, when I went to the Duplicated Sheet Layer, none of the Keynotes were as expected. They looked like Callouts placed as Keynotes, but the Keynote Legend was blank. Going back to the original Sheet Layer (which was duplicated), and all of the Keynotes which were previously linked to the Keynote Legend, were now not linked to the Keynote Legend. This is in Vw2025 Update 7 on macOS 12.7.6. I have attached a sample file duplicating the steps below: 1. create keynotes in SLVP Annotations on Sheet Layer 2. choose Duplicate Active Layer from the 'Show Organization Layer Dialogue Box...' pulldown; 3. On the duplicated Sheet layer, it looks like all of the keynotes are there, but they are not connected to any Keynote Legend 4. If you double click on the Keynote legend, all of the notes disappear. 5. Go into the SLVP Annotations, select all the Keynotes, and add to Default Legend — they reappear on the Keynote Legend. 6. If you go back to the original Sheet Layer, the Keynote Legend is empty as all of the Keynotes have been removed from the Keynote Legend. But the Keynotes still appear in the SLVP, but they are not linked to anything. 7. If you edit the SLVP Annotations, select all of the Keynotes, and chose ‘Place as Keynote’, select the Keynote Legend for that Sheet, they are restored. I'll file a Tech Support request for this, but in the interim I would advise against Duplicating Sheet Layers with Keynotes & Keynote Legends. keynotes bug 2025.vwx
  4. It would be helpful if Callouts could host both text & images. Maybe this could be done with a future version of DataTags if Records could host the image. Either way, a simple Image in Callouts enhancement would be very quick & handy. (If this is already possible I'm drawing a blank)
  5. I would like to be able to search for notes across all Sections of my Notes Database. Sometimes I know that I have created a note in my Note Database, but I am uncertain of which section of the database it is in -- or I may have misfiled it in the wrong database section. Currently the search box in the Notes Manager or the Callout database only searches within each selected Section of the database; There is not an option to search across ALL notes in the Callout / Notes database. Using the Database filter *kind of* works this way, but when use Add Filter to search for something I end up with a bunch of Filters in non-alphabetical order as they're just listed in the order created.
  6. I've set a callout class with opacities:- 50% fill and 100% pen ; opacities not linked, graphics attributes to be used at creation. But callouts have both fill and pen opacity 50%. Attribute check boxes for pen opacity are greyed out...anyone experienced similar? Am I missing a setting?
  7. We'd like a new Bubble Style for Callouts: a triangle. A callout with a triangle has become a convention to indicate residual risks on a drawing in the UK.
  8. I'll often add a Callout by duplicating an existing one and then editing it and adding a note in the Edit Callout window. Problem is once I've done this the old note is still highlighted and I've got to do and search for my new note and click on it before I can add it to the design layer. To solve this the new note should be highlighted when clicking on OK in the Add Note to Database window.
  9. This one has me stumped. Callouts are acting strangely. Usually things are easily controlled. In this case the shoulder is 0, and the bubble style is ISO. Dragging the right most control point does nothing. Dragging either the angle point or the shoulder points give opposite results. It's a bit hard to describe. Something seems to changing the text position and the first leg of the leader. I want the shoulder much smaller, but it only gets bigger. I want the underline to follow the text. HELP!

You used to be able to move just the text portion of the callout, with the arrow end staying by using the reshape tool & drawing a marquee around just the text and then moving to suit, with the arrow end staying put. It worked in 2016, removed in 2017 for some reason and still missing in 2018.
  11. I would like to be able to have a Callout that has a leader line on both sides as below. To do this now we have to duplicate, undo, delete, group, mirror rotate, move.
  12. So, downloaded VW Architect 2017 yesterday (very excited). Been in it last two days and my callout tool is all screwy. When I try to place a callout to the right hand side of an object it automatically moves the callout to the left side (basically a mirror). Also, when I try to place an angled leader line, to either direction, once I'm done with text it automatically straightens the leader line moving away from the object I'm notating. Anyone else have this issue?
  13. Seems that in VW17, if you mirror a callout while in a rotated top/plan view, the mirror changes shape and position. In VW16, when I mirrored a callout in rotated top/plan the mirror would nehave exactly as if I had mirrored it in top/plan - that is to say, it would be oriented 90 degrees (or whatever angled I had mirrored it to) to the original. The only workaround I found so far is to change to top/plan and then mirror the callout. This results in a callout that is rotated incorrectly, but is at least the same shape. From there you just have to rotated it back to match the original. I did a quick search and didn't come up with any posts about this already, but im surprised nobody has flagged this one yet. I have been able to replicate the bug in new files and on multiple PC and Mac machines.
  14. We have been experience a repeated crash in VW2017 when editing callouts and keynote legends using a database. Many of these problems are happening in files that started in VW2016 and have since moved over. The problem happens when editing text in the database, just prior to updating a keynote legend. I have uploaded a screenshare video that shows a couple of crashes related to this problem. I aplogize for the poor quality, but you still should be able to follow the workflow. It should be noted that we have been managing callouts in this fashion for some time and have only had problems in VW2017!
