  1. If I remember correctly there is a repair permissions tool in MacOS, as it seems a similar read/write access rights issue as on Windows PC's to me perhaps you could try to repair permissions if you have not already done this.
  2. No problem, the discussion got a bit diffuse for a moment so I can see why you brought up the custom selection.
  3. Yes, that preview is not really useful. It should preferably automatically zoom in to show the core elements of the linetype, i.e. only that part that gets repeated plus the first element of the next repeat and not a "long" stretch that shows multiple repetitions. Or only show the core elements and just one repetition.
  4. Yes I know, and use it for this and more complex selections, but for only selecting all objects in a class or layer it takes more effort than a simple right mouse button click on a class/layer in the navigation palette and select "select all objects in class/layer" from the submenu. Especially if you have to do this repeatedly the right mouse button route will save quite a bit of time compared to repeatedly bringing up the custom selection and setting the parameters.
  5. Whatever would work to achieve the desired result. As long as I don't have to use Tipp-Ex to white it out on my screen
  6. Yes, it is more about being able to include/exclude a group of info items as a whole from the drawing block through an on/off option or something like that in the same drawing border if that has placeholder for that group of information. Not sure if I am explaining myself well on this.
  7. Yes. Imagine importing a dwg file where the objects should have the line thickness set to "bylayer" (by class) but the draftsperson did assign a manual line thickness. Now I have to go to the custom selection for each and every class or switch off all classes and then turn each class on for a select all and then set the object's line thickness to by class. If it are only two or three classes it is not a big issue. But if there are tens of classes it gets annoying. And the layer/class names can be different for another imported dwg with a similar issue. This is one scenario where I would really like to have a simple easy way to select all objects in a class or layer as it is not just limited to e.g. changing line thickness as in the example where I could use it.
  8. Yes, where needed I use different drawing blocks with different information included. That being said... it also means having multiple versions of the same drawing block and having to update all of them whenever there is a change to the drawing block. In my case I have drawing blocks with placeholders for some default things and then it would be convenient to set in the OIP what groups of information to show or not in that title block. If there is "no information" then the placeholder stays empty. E.g. a generic presentation drawing does not need to show the detailed georeferencing information, but the placeholder for that info might still be visible. Then it will seem as if that information does not exist or was not used. Currently I would need two drawing blocks to keep track of for just this combination of info display on/off. There are other scenarios where I sometimes need to leave out certain info, so that would be another drawing block to use. Which wouldn't be much of an issue if it were only my own drawing blocks, but the client may want their own drawing blocks to be used for their projects, so that would be more sets of drawing blocks. It would be quite convenient if that could be reduced to one or two drawing blocks per client to cover those info scenarios.
  9. Once, a few years ago, it was mentioned by the local distributor that there might be a merge of Architect and Landmark because of the increasing overlap in tools (e.g. DTM, some architectural tools like stairs and beams etc.). It seems to me that Landscape and Architect should work closely together as often both architects and landscapers work on the same project. Then having (somewhat) commont tools that work well in one but only half in the other would be a bit counterproductive. I wouldn't mind having an Architect and a Landmark version staying separate for the next couple of years to come, but if there are "simple" common tools used in both then please let those tools be 100% the same. For complex tools I can see a use for having a cut-down version if only a subset is used by one of the two, but something like the structural members that is already for (assumingly) 70+ percent in Landmark feature wise it makes no sense to me to leave out the other 10-30% as that would probably create unnecessary overhead for the programming staff to maintain two different versions of the same tool.
  10. @rDesignI was trying to get clear what Matt meant with his question about UV unfolding, as it seemed to me he was thinking of the unfolding as used in e.g. sheet metal design software. If that is the case then I don't think it will be implement in the near future because it seems to be a rather complex thing to do well. That being said, there are some 3D programs that do have unfolding but it may be a somewhat different kind of thing than used in sheet metal design software, perhaps a "reverse UV mapping" (for lack of better wording) might be all Matt wants for his purposes and that might be easier to implement if that is what he meant with UV unfolding.
  11. Yes, have Bluebeam myself and the compare is really useful to have. I do make lots of revisions and sometimes go back to an earlier version for a new design for alternative options etc. so a compare would be useful in that case too to highlight differences between the alternative designs in a relatively easy way. It is something that can be used for multiple purposes. Your bubble wizard would be a nice addition to have if there is going to be a compare tool.
  12. I wish I had know that the framing member tool could also be used for structural beams, the icon and naming is a bit deceptive for non-architechts. As Eric mentioned, some of those using VW Landmark do create structures too and I'm one of those. Having the structural members tool with the associated connectivity, control and columns would be really useful to have if you're more towards the civil engineering end than "just" gardening/landscaping with a focus on plants/trees. so +1 (and upvoted) for getting this fully included in Landmark. Jim, when the demo video for VW2017 on structural members came out I asked about this possibly becoming available for Landmark users, any idea how the VW decision makers are looking at this with regard to Landmark?
  13. That would indeed be nice to have. Some PDF software can compare two PDF files and mark the differences. This will be helpful to track those (relatively) small but possibly important changes that are not easily to see when looking at a file. (or that can easily be overlooked)
  14. I'm having graphics display issues as well in some limited cases where things don't update properly but not like you are having, but noticed that some other program is getting them too so it might be the last driver update causing some issues. But from an OS interaction perspective it seems to be running ok except for this update issue and the graphics display but that could also be a driver/monitor setup thing in combination with the heavier demands of the new VGM. Yes I am on PC, it's been along time since I used a Mac (OS 9 days) so I guessed there might be an admin mode for running programs with elevated rights. It seems to me that the Mac version has a bit more bugs than the Windows version, so I hope for the Mac users that the rumoured new processor for the Macbook Pro is not going to make things worse.
  15. Yes that would be a useful option to have, as long as there is also an option to include or exclude this information on a per drawing/title block/whatever uses this info basis. e.g. for when a file contains sheet layers for both internal and external use and you don't want some info to show up in one or the other.
  16. Wouldn't such a repeated back and forth conversion between subdivision and mesh negatively impact one or the other. E.g. bezier curves can be used to mimick polygons/polylines but the other way around is not so easy as it may take lots of nodes to even get close to a complex bezier curve. Or the accuracy of the curve is affected after conversion to polyline. Not having used subdivisions that much yet as v1 was a bit too limited for some things this is something I'd like to know as I do often end up with meshes when importing 3D dwg files so knowing the impact of conversions would be nice.
  17. That would work well if you know what object to select for that particular class/layer to select all objects in that class/layer. (Without using workarounds like hiding other classes/layers to see which objects are on that class/layer before continuing a selection) When you don't know it will be a trial and error experience and then the requested option would be helpful. e.g. when having multiple classes with the same appearance so that you can't tell from its looks which object belongs to which class.
  18. You mean as in software used for sheet metal purposes? That would be more a mechanical engineering kind of things which Vectorworks has more or less abandoned. It would be nice to have for some purposes but if I understood correctly based on discussions in other forums having a good sheet metal unfolding functionality takes quite a bit of programming. Unless you are referring to a different kind of unfolding that I am thinking of.
  19. +1 for Kaare's suggestion, hadn't thought about that one and it is useful too. Basically most things related to NURBS or NURBS node manipulation through the object info palette can use some improvement.
  20. Do you also get an error when trying to update the library catalog? I had the same issue and when trying to update the library catalog it popped up an error stating it had not enough rights or that the file might be missing. Running VW as administrator solves this problem as the update can then be completed and on subsequent starts of VW this message no longer appears as long as there is no update to a library. The local support desk did not know that is causing this, as everything else works fine her (for as far as I can tell), perhaps it will be solved in SP1.
  21. I mentioned the option for a quick all/on off option for setting snaps, but it might be better if the quick on/off remembers the last snap settings configuration instead so that when you want to turn the snaps on you'll get the previously used settings instead of just all on. In addition to that there could also be a quick all on/all off option.
  22. A lock layer/lock class option in addition to locking objects, preferably to be set through the navigation palette or in the layer/class drop down with a lockpad icon behind the class or layer name. This would be helpful if all objects on certain layers or in certain classes should (temporarily) not be accidentally moved while maintaining the show/snap/modify others setting of layers and classes instead of having to set show/snap or grey/snap others and then keep activating the layer/class one wants to work on. Locking all objects on a layer/class is not always the most efficient way of preventing accidental moving as objects will need to be unlocked and then locked every time they would need to be edited.
  23. Right-mouse click option in navigation palettes to select all objects in the selected class or layer. This would be much faster than using the magic wand, custom selection dialog or changing class/layer visibility to select all objects in a single class or layer without having to grey or disable visibility of other clasess/layers
  24. Improved indication of selected nodes (in e.g. NURBS curves) if previous/next arrows are used in the object info palette. E.g. giving it a bold or red (or both) outline so that it looks different from the other nodes. Now only a short red blink shows up and after that it is not always easy to see which node is being referred to in the object info palette. This makes editing unnecessarily difficult/time-consuming if you want to use the OIP to set a node to a coordinate for example.
