  1. See the What's New videos for the Connect/Combine procedure for roofs.
  2. I would like to acknowledge the NV folks for the excellent "What's New" and "Getting Started Guides" DVDs that ship with 2011. Clearly a lot of quality planning and work went in to creating these DVDs. I have found them very helpful getting oriented in VW 2011.
  3. Create a vertical section viewport on a sheet layer and then cut a horizontal section viewport on that section viewport.
  4. I would gladly pay more for a less buggy release out of the starting gate!
  5. Very nice. Such a tool would be a vast improvement!
  6. I did that once on a project by modeling one panel of standing seam roofing then duplicating it to make a sheet of roofing large enough to cover the largest roofing plane on the project. Then I made a symbol of this. I then created working planes on each roof surface, placed and adjusted the symbol sheet of roofing as an object, and then trimmed each sheet of roofing in place to match each roofing plane. A bit time consuming but not unreasonable for the effect. I suppose it could be done with board and batt also. Only way I can think of to get real shade and shadows.
  7. Consider exporting to a pdf.
  8. Energy efficiency modeling for Schematic Design Phase. Including (but not limited to): Hourly Heat Balance Calculations. Whole-building analysis, integrating loads and systems for multi-zone building. Calculate hourly indoor air temperature. Input local utility rates and local pollution data.
  9. Dieter, Thanks for your wall joining tips and the time you took to illustrate them!! I read your earlier post and tried to do it but could not figure it out. I understood it when I followed your graphic instructions. Helped me resolve a three-way wall connection very neatly. When you said you use "columns" to resolve other more difficult wall intersections did you mean "pillars"?
  10. I started modeling with VW 2008 as the basis for all 2D. I have not looked back.
  11. In the US you can have one licensed copy loaded on two machines and use one copy at a time.
  12. There are many things I like about Vectorworks, but the stair tools are near the bottom of my list of things I like least about VW. I have been trying to do some simple stairs in 2011. I am finding the same basic disfunctionality in the stair tools as in previous releases.
  13. Jeffrey, What about the original question about Thermorender?
  14. I exported a sheet viewport, with a 3-D view of an object and 3-D dimensions, to a pdf (96 dpi). Looks great. With hidden line rendering, you have to check "project screen objects" to see the dimension text. The dimensions also display nicely with final quality Renderworks.
  15. I would really really like to know also!!!
  16. 3-D dimensions from design layers show in sheet viewports. To dimension in 3-D you would have to be able to set and control the working plane in a sheet layer viewport. I just tried to do that in 2011. The set working plane tool does not activate in annotation mode in a sheet layer viewport (set to a 3-D view), thus it seems that it is not possible to apply 3-D dimensions on a sheet layer.
  17. I do not see how you can expect 3-D dimensioning in sheet viewports when sheet viewports are 2-D renderings of views of 3-D and 2-D objects. Is this possible?
  18. I gave up using Windoor and went back to the native windows and doors for ease of use. I do not base my details on the window and door pios, just plans and elevations.
  19. I tried to use a Wacom Bamboo tablet but gave up when I could not get the zoom to work (as you say) with the ease of a scroll wheel. Is there a way to zoom using only with your right (or left) hand?
  20. Here is the title block in a file. It is placed on a sheet using the sheet boarder with the option "use as title block only". Double click on it on the sheet layer and add text in the record format to see how it works.
  21. NV is offering subscriptions now. Subscribing prior to release provided a nice discount.
  22. I know it is possible with a custom title block that includes sheet and project records. I created one a few years ago based on info in Help. It has worked flawlessly.
