Desktop App: On November 30, 2020, we will be retiring all versions prior to 8.0 of the Vectorworks Cloud Services Desktop app. They use an old version of SSL, which is no longer supported. If you are running version 7.x or earlier, you will be prompted to update the latest version, which is currently 8.5.X. If there are any issues with the upgrade process, users can download the latest version here: Mac: https://cloud.vectorworks.net/download/latest/Mac Windows: https://cloud.vectorworks.net/download/latest/Windows Nomad: The next version of iOS Nomad (8.8) will require iOS 13 or higher. This is to simplify the product development process while still taking advantage of new OS features, such as the AR People Occlusion feature available on iOS 13 and higher. The current iOS Nomad 8.7 will continue to run on older devices, but updates will no longer be available. If you’re running on an older version of iOS and would like to install Nomad, the App Store will download the latest compatible version. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns at tech@vectortworks.net.

@MartinFahrer I This is great to hear Martin. Sometimes this happens either because of a high call volume or during lunch or group meetings.

oh wow it's been a long time - it used to be a problem with Quartz Imaging turned on - old times. In this case, i'm curious to see if there is an issue with importing DWG or if it is something else with the OS.

@sarah g I'm very sorry that you are not getting quick responses from our Distributor. Please contact us directly to tech@vectorworks.net and we will be able to assist you.

@alda Without knowing much about the Vectorworks version the file exported from, I will recommend you to request the same file exported to IFC instead. Let us know.

@alana walsh Your license extension has been approved. To all, please keep in mind that extensions and/or approvals might take between 1-2 business days to be approved. Do not wait until the last minute to submit your requests. There are three alerts in the software at different times, warning you about your license expiration. Happy to keep helping you here but avoid being on a deadline without your favorite software 😉

@matteoluigi thank you for your questions: 1. Do you mean “Project Directory”? The Projects Directory is the folder from where your server-based projects are served. The Projects Directory can contain all your BIM or CAD files - Project Files, Working Files, PDFs, VWX files, etc. It can also include your files from previous versions of Vectorworks. I am sure you have a well-defined structure for their files (e.g., /DATA/Drawings/...). It would be best to think about where your Project Files will likely reside within your project structure and use the most common folder. Your Project Directory can be “/DATA” or “/DATA/Drawings/Current” if you only wanted to be more specific. 2. Yes, it is possible if you know how daemons work, but we do not recommend it. Why are you looking for this solution? 3. We recommended one psserverd per machine. The psserverd is light-weight. It can handle thousands (if not millions) of requests per second. If you are running the psserverd within your local network, I do not see a need for load-balancing. 4. The psserverd can handle hundreds of projects at the same time. Do you have BIM or CAD files across multiple machines? Your goal should be installing one psserverd on the machine (or NAS device) where your files are stored. 5. Your colleague will use the File -> Open Server-based Project File menu command. 6. We are always looking to improve our solutions. Could you please share the current roadblocks or limitations you have with our existing solutions?

Could you try the following direct links? Version 2021 Version 2020

@amber verbeeck You should not share your serial#, the student in your class must be able to request an extension or upgrade of the current license. You can request the extension at student.vectorworks.net

@David Morris to answer your questions: 1. Yes, you will be able to open files created from version 2014. 2. For Vectorworks 2021, you will need at least Mac OS 10.12 ( Sierra). See the complete list of system requirements HERE

There was a recent problem with the Vectorworks Cloud Services (VCS) Desktop App ver.8.5.935 where it doesn’t start up, and the fix for this doesn’t update automatically. If you are experiencing this issue, first try double-clicking on the VCS app in your Vectorworks folder, If you still get the message go to the following LINK and download the latest version 8.5.936, and double-click to run it. Thereafter the desktop app should run normally.

More than incremental updates to windows, doors and stairs
JuanP replied to Christiaan's question in Wishlist - Feature and Content Requests
@line-weightVery creative 🙂 I have been paying attention to the forums, it that just sometimes I don't have all the answers. As I mentioned in previous posts and Biplab and Steve mentioned during the live Q&A at Design Day, we plan to release our roadmap of features and improvements for version 2022 before the end of the year and later on Q1-2021 one more that will include our 2 to 5 years roadmap. We have been collecting all your feedback, and we are aware of the importance of updating Windows, doors, and stairs. I will be providing more information as becomes available.- 21 replies

You are correct. It usually takes 3-4 weeks for us to start coming up with the new/updated content. For the training seminars starting in the 3er week of October, the training team is actively working on updating all content to version 2021. In here, we will be covering new features and new workflows as part of the Vectorworks 2021. Most of the topics above will be covered as part fo the Architect seminar, first live session Oct 21st. You can see the training events calendar here: https://www.vectorworks.net/events/training Thank you for all your feedback, and for additional information about 2021 features please check our Online HELP
