  1. Contact tech support directly and they can give you detailed information. In general, any of the machines in the computer room can act as the key server, and you allow other computers outside the room to run VW. The computers must be on the same subnet and there are some additional configurations that need to me made.
  2. The light info record attatched to the symbol contains the beam and field angle along with the candlepower for the instrument. Somply attach the light info record to the symbol def and fill out the information. The lighting device will read this information.
  3. Rad gives you a much truer vision of what the scene will look like. Everyone is just used to seeing the Renderworks renderings. I would post the question on the Renderworks board. If you have the ability post a picture of your Rad rendering and one of your Renderworks rendering. Lately DaveD has been asking people for their file and seeing how much he can speed up the rendering by changing the rendering settings.
  4. Num Channels was also added to V12. If you create a symbol and fill out the record info atatched to the symbol the field will populate automatically. Most of the instruments contain this information but several older instruments need to be updated. For instruments like the VL5 I sometimes attatch a "Dimmer" as an accessory to the instrument.
  5. You need to only select the lighting devices, if you select the position or anything else the OIP will gray. If you just select the lighting devices you will be able to change the z height using the OIP.
  6. In v12 there is a field for Universe. In prior version most people used the dimmer field and entered 1/99(Universe/Dimmer), a standard notation that is also used in Lightwright.
  7. Set the fill (and pen?) to none.
  8. The gobo projector is now integrated into the lighting device.
  9. It's a know and published problem with the Intel Mac. For info on known problems on the Intel Mac, take a look at: http://kbase.nemetschek.net/index.php?ToDo=view&questId=91&catId=23
  10. No, you are doing everything right. It's a bug and will be fixed next with the next update.
  11. As far as I know it is not possible to run VW without Quicktime. You may not need the player or the codecs, but there are other components of Quicktime that VW requires.
  12. No, the editable worksheet is just text in the worksheet. You can not edit data in database rows. Database rows are read only.
  13. You can only sort database rows on a worksheet.
  14. No, Each cell can have it's own set of values.
  15. The data in the light info record attatched to the symbol has the word "Light" in the Inst Type field rather then L&E 3 Circuit Ministrip and the beam and field angle of the light are blank.
  16. Yes, the problem is that you have instruments selected on a layer that is turned off. Set all your layers to visable and layer options to show/Snap/Modify deselect everything, then go back to the previous settings. This will be fixed for the next update.
  17. If you have Architect you can use Modify Layers and Classes, (Class and Layer Mapping in V12) You will have to set it up once then you can recall the settings on the new files.
  18. Deselect the instrument and select the instrument again. I have seen times when the OIP doesn't redraw.
  19. There is no 3-fer, you can simply place mutiple 2-fers to create a 3-fer.
  20. The undo bug was fixed with the 12.0.1 update.
  21. Open the label legend manager. Select the Purpose field, notice that the right reading check box is checked. Select the color, notice that right reading is checked. This is why the Purpose label and the color label act differently.
  22. Patrick, Send the file to Tech@Nemetschek.net. I'm off to USITT this week. Tech support should be able to take a look at it and tell you what's going on. [ 03-27-2006, 10:33 AM: Message edited by: klinzey ]
  23. Jim, The Purpose is set to not be right reading, and rotated 90 in the LL. When which means that the text rotates with the instrument. So the instrument is rotated 90, the Purpose text is rotated 90. Where as the Color is set to Right Reading, so even though the instrument is rotated at 90, the text maintains its original rotation. If you are trying to get the information to always appear upstage or downstage of the instrument, that's different. The spacing problem is a know issue with the instrument key. The Key is a simple group that you can edit to rearrange the information.
  24. The symbol within the repetitive unit is probably assigned to the none calss. Edit the symbol and change the calss of the objects. Once you create the viewport, edit the crop and set the pen of the crop to none. There was also a script posted on the BB or on the list serve recently that will automate the process.
  25. Send it to me directly (if you still have my email adress) or send it to tech@nemetschek.net to my attention.
