  1. VW Prefs>Display> Show 3D Loci>choose "Always" or "Never" or "Only in Wireframe"
  2. I would make a NURBS curve profile and a NURBS straight-line rail (as extrusion length)>Loft Surface Tool (with one rail mode)>Shell Solid Tool for thickness. Nice article in Cabinetmaker magazine, BTW. And super-clean shop!
  3. I'll third this request, and add Sweeps and Chamfers. I have a feeling there is a good {programmer's} reason why object history is blanked out.
  4. Jeff- The only real difference I have experienced is that if you get a bad stick (which can happen with either), Apple is somewhat less helpful in dealing with the consequences. "Oh, you put in third-party RAM.." "Yeah, but....." Happened on my old PB. I've decided it's worth it to pay the peace-of-mind premium. Search Apple Discussions MBP for tons of opinions.
  5. Can't. Been asked B4, don't have threads saved, can search forums.
  6. A workaround: Convert to Lines, use Rectangular/Lasso Selection mode to select unwanted "areas", Delete, Select what remains, Compose, new polygon.
  7. Have you tried Arroway ? They have really high quality textures, I remember seeing weathered....
  8. Right, figured as much. Thanks.
  9. When I create a Section Viewport, I always use the same settings in the Advanced Section Properties>Attributes. Unfortunately these settings are not the same as what appear to be the default settings, i.e. radio button Merged Cross Sections. In service to my quest to defeat mindless, repetitive tedium (however mild ), does anyone know if it is possible to change these specific "defaults"? Customizing library defaults, no prob, but where do these reside?
  10. In VW Prefs, uncheck Mouse Wheel Zooms. BTW, use Option to toggle modes.
  11. I dunno--I have a similar configuration and do not have these problems, nor can I replicate your crashes. Have you tried a VW reinstall? Are any other apps acting up? Do you use dual monitors? There may be an OS issue there.
  12. Can't encourage you strongly enough--screen space is a premium commodity. That's what I do. And I have every type of workspace duplicated, with one arranged and optimized for on-the-go single monitor, and the other for two monitors in the office. Otherwise, switching back and forth can be tedious palette dragging and resizing. Perhaps there's a better way....
  13. I waited a while too, while complaints floated about. After finally [font:Comic Sans MS]having[/font] to get one, I must say MM is reliable, smooth, and sweet. I find my own Apple-induced lack of dexterity/habit with two-button mice the only stumbling block.
  14. Ditto to what Ray says. You could even use Duplicate Array and immediately have ten little neatly aligned VPs, awaiting editing.
  15. Yes, I use it. Just some issues with the isometric dims.
  16. A side question related to Robert's response: Extrude Along Path command appears to automatically convert a selected Path object to NURBS. Is there a difference/benefit of converting to NURBS in a prior step?
  17. maybe here: TurboSquid
  18. I can't duplicate what you describe, i.e. extruded circles, solid subtract from larger, dim change. Are you perhaps being stymied by display preferences? Go to VWPrefs>Edit>3D conversion res> set to Very High. This will increase the number of display segments, thus making a smoother arc. As I'm sure you know, CNCs are limited by a similar "resolution" issue, insofar as the positions along an arc are always interpolated from x and y, and thus never really truly an arc.
  19. Charles- That was both very funny  .... and very helpful. It might have even cracked open the door in my pathological fear of scripting. Thanks!
  20. Can't seem to fix this one...any ideas or experiences? Meant to explain that it happens every time a VectorScript error occurs, and I want to view the "Error Output".
  21. Stop killing yourselves, gentlemen. For a small fee, the lovely profiles at Vectordepot. Or from many, many distributors/mills (Dykes, LeNoble, etc.) free downloads of ready-made polylines that match their respective catalogs. Just extrude...
  22. True that...but.... Not exactly true that. When you hit the Position button, the ensuing Position Symbol in Wall dialog includes a highly schematized representation of the wall and symbol insertion, where you can choose centerline, outside, or inside of wall as reference! Still tricky sometimes, but easier than cl only. HTH.
  23. Before going nuts with judgement, remember that VW is a different program than FormZ, and it takes time and effort going through the many available resources to learn how to use it efficiently. In this particular case, have you looked at the options available via the Constraints Palette? Ones like Snap to Object?
  24. It is not part of the Standard Workspace anymore. Use Tools>Workspaces>Workspace Editor to add it to your menu commands.
