  1. Even if this is a product of specialization, I would still expect there to be a setting similar to the Connect/Combine Tool where you could set it via the submenu at the top left of the work screen. To me it sounds like an installation foul-up and the rep is acting like he too can see the emperor's new clothes. Or maybe that doesn't happen in NZ.
  2. Do a search, this has come up a few times in different forums recently.
  3. Do you mean the Print & Stamp plug at vectordepot? I'm guessing you no longer have access to the other computer? -if you do you can of course you throw the plug on a disc or email it to yourself.
  4. Absolutely. The Break Line is another PIO I use once, ungroup and then continue to use as a poly.
  5. Not what you probably would like to hear, but Renderworks does a much better job than Open GL accurately portraying minute separations plus you also get textures.
  6. You can stack windows in the same wall. You can even snap to the first window when placing the second. Adjust the elevation and you're good to go. If the two windows are not the same width you'll have to put one on a different class to be able to turn it off -though if it is the wider that you want on your plan just send it to front, regardless of its elevation relative to the other one.
  7. I've also found that curved walls don't extend to roofs very well. I usually end up going with the curve in plan and segmented in 3D.
  8. Not exactly the same, but from 11.0 onward I have found I cannot double-click files located on a server. No weirdness, just nothing. Opening files on my own HD by this method has no problems. Opening files on the server by drag+drop or from within VW works fine.
  9. Not that it was fun saving every 20 operations as opposed to 100, but I guess it didn't kill me either. Thanks to NNA for addressing the issues as timely as they did. Things seem to be working.
  10. No problems here, if the latest patch doesn't help you my guess is that a VW reinstall may be your only course.
  11. Flexibility in many areas of the stair tool are required. As it is now it can be used to help determine your riser height and placemark a preliminary layout and then, at least for me, needs to be exploded and edited or drawn over to attain useable graphics.
  12. The Fills On/Off toggle seems a very good solution. One step further would be something like graphics programs that have grey or other level of display detail. Hatches have come a fair ways, but if we could use them without worrying about killing the regen time, as well as making the origin scale and angle of individual hatches more manipulable (separate thread) they would just about do everything to make me happy.

  14. When utilizing a large number of hatched objects a drawing can really slow down. I've worked out a few ways to deal with this, but wonder what others do, I'm likeley not using the best method. Here are things I have tried, depending on the circumstance: - Turn off selected classes, save as view. This is the most straightforward, but if you want to keep the lines then you need to have everything drawn twice. - Assign all hatches in their own class so I can select all, set fill to none, and then when needed, select all and set fill to class style. This works reasonable well but can get class-intensive. Also maybe I only want to turn off the heaviest 80%, then I have to group or create a selection set. - Create bitmaps of particularily intensive classes and use image fill rather than hatch. This has its place, allows relatively easy adjustment of scale, start and rotation of patterns. Still, its only a partial remedy. What I would really like is a "Show/Hide Fills" toggle that worked regardless of assigned class or other. Thoughts?
  15. I like the Render Bitmap tool. Something equally useful would be a screen capture type bitmap tool. There are screen capture programs, and you can always print screen and crop in pshop, but it would be great to marquee a segment, copy and paste it into an email, send.
  16. Also, if you or someone you know has AutoCad, recent versions of VW convert their .pat files into VW hatches when importing. -great for hatches from products like StoneCAD which cater to ACAD
  17. There is a Pantone color picker on the 3rd party plug-ins site (http://www.nemetschek.net/partners/plugins.html) though it is only for Mac. Similar to how window and other manufacturers provide dwg details, a certain amount of the onus should fall on the paint supplier or other to make their product easier to spec. To this end, rather than getting specific with each manufacturer, it would be nice if a universal color import/export function was available. (Or is there such a thing?)

  19. From the beginning there has always been, Down at the bottom of the Page pull-down menu, A wonderful thing . . . Called "Set Attribute Defaults" So the whole world Could share the fortune.
  20. The move or duplicate by vector is one that every ACAD user has looked for from the inception of the program. What I'd like to add to this is a check box in the Duplicate dialoge box, similar to offest by next mouse click, that would allow you to click a start point and drag a distance.
  21. Yup. Most software will support previous versions at least a few years back. Its only opening files from newer versions with older apps that is sometimes problematic.
  22. Double-click a poly that you want to edit. You'll note the 2D reshape tool in the 2D tools palette becomes highlighted. In the top left of the work screen are the options this tool has for adding, moving vertices etc.
  23. Dan, I have to admit that I'm not a major user of the dormer tool, but what if you modeled your roof with the roof face tool, dormer location clipped from the 2D poly before face creation . . . and then used the roof tool on just the clipped area to produce a dormer? Too awkward?
