  1. @halfcoupler, @Kevin K Both of these methods are helpful, true, but what I was getting at was something a bit different, which would be similar to the "purge" function and I'm really not sure it could be accomplished given the constraints of how we interact with the library items that are saved within a particular project file, i.e. only being able to show one object at a time with library objects.. What I was lamenting, proposing, whatever, was the idea of being able to automagically go through an entire project and set all of the screen plane items to layer plane.. I'm guessing that whatever the method, this might result in a lot of fiddly work with viewports etc. and as I think about it more, not positive what the benefit would be, except to be able to move forward with a legacy project in "layer plane only" mode. Thoughts?
  2. I also am pretty impressed with the stability and snappiness of 2022.. that being said, I’ve had some glitchy behaviors with OpenGL (now “shaded”)’in which materials rendered incorrectly.. also one weird spinning beach ball that I had to eventually force quit to get out of.. it would be nice to have a tool to root out screen plane assets in a file to convert to layer plane.. in files with many symbols etc.. it’s a bit daunting to think about going through and checking everything which probably ends up being hundreds of small items including library items that were created in previous versions of VW
  3. @KrisMyour screen recording seems set to "private" unable to view here..
  4. I for one, would like to see an option to have snapping as a floating or dockable palette return to the interface. I find that with my setup, dual monitors, main monitor 30", the snapping palette is way less usable and much harder target to mouse over to than it was before. For me at least, it's a significant decrease in usability.
  5. @unearthedCan you cite some examples of the "many of the norms in the CAD world" which you deem to be missing?
  6. After many years of the pattern of having info released in August, the lack of "teaser tuesday" material.. make me worry that the release is undergoing some problems and delay.. be nice to get some information.
  7. Will 2022 be native on Apple Silicon?
  8. I have the same question..
  9. @zoomerAre you testing on the M1? Thanks for posting..
  10. Hi @Sidge, yes, I'm on a Mac Mini M1.. enjoying it a lot.. migrated from a 2013 Mac Pro. Never bothered to find out if I could pan without the space bar.. since that motion is so natural.. mouse in the right hand, left thumb on the space bar.. I'm guessing what you want is probably possible.. maybe map the middle mouse button or another button to that function...
  11. Opening this file.. obviously I can't comment on why this happened in the first place, and why the various circles and lines cant be "force selected" and why the scale of the circles is so large etc.. lots of idiosyncratic behaviors here.. This should be addressed by staff. The affected class is "paradiso".. this was by process of elimination.. There is a line type in the file that includes the circles.. (Line Type 2). The giant circles are part of the line type.. If this line type is deleted, the problem graphics go away.. When doing the delete.. you'll be prompted to either delete completely, or choose another line type to substitute for the deleted one.. I chose to substitute a simple solid line (Type 1).. file seemed to display normally from my limited sense of what it should look like.. Seems like the display of the circles was caused by the use of this line type..
  12. My issue was similar.. drives "ejecting" improperly during sleep.. in my case it also resulted in some RAID corruption as I mentioned.. at least in my case, setting my energy saver as shown above seemed to do the trick and this has not recurred.. I hope this si something that apple can fix with a patch rather than being something inherent in the new hardware..
  13. This was in a main window.. main monitor.
  14. Brief description of my experiences so far with the M1, this is not a recommendation, just a report. Mac power user for many many (many) years.. I went for 16GB of RAM with a 1TB SSD, Though I've done many clean installs, I decided to give migration assistant a try this time and the process was flawless as far as I can tell. I was on a trashcan pro, 6 core D700 64GB RAM, Big Sur.. all updates incl. VW 2021 SP3. The experience could not have been much easier, at the end of the Migration the new machine appeared virtually identical to the old. I'm running dual monitors.. primary is a 32" BenQ, running off TB port on the M1 connected with a TB to Displayport cable, the other monitor is connected via HDMI. No issues with sleep regarding monitors, monitor recognition et. al. I have an OWC RAID connected via TB for content storage and Time Machine.. here is one rub: one of the RAID sets would lose integrity and need to self repair if I let the machine completely sleep, so I have set my energy saver preferences as shown.. the problem has not recurred. Vectorworks is running smoothly, all preferences and workspaces were migrated correctly .. I initially noted some funny flickering doing rotations of a smallish residential project in Open GL, which seems to have gone away, and I can't reproduce the problem, so not sure what's up there... so far literally everything I have needed to do has worked seamlessly... It's not high stress.. but fully modeled small residences including site models are working very smoothly, Rendering performance in all of the modes has become quicker, though not radically so.. especially noticeable in Hidden Line.. obviously this is totally anecdotal.. as always YMMV. A side note, Trashcan sold very quickly on eBay for more than enough to pay for the swap.. in summary, I'm a very happy camper..
  15. @line-weight Could you describe how you are running 3 monitors? Is it a scheme whereby your screens are connected through a hub rather than directly? Also if anyone in the group has recommendations for a hub that works well with a mini (especially the "mini sized" type).. I'd appreciate a recommendation.
  16. which hub did you go for?
  17. I think another factor to weigh when making this decision.. yes, the current M1 is not a huge improvement over a 2013 trashcan.. It is however more fluid in OpenGL.. that's nice.. and the performance is better, though not by a huge margin. But, I would assume that as time goes on and Apple Silicon becomes more ubiquitous, that the Trashcan and other Intel models will likely crash (or greatly decrease) in resale value.. so now is a better time to transition if one wants to get a bit more $$ out of selling an existing machine.. I'm guessing that I'll either make a few dollars or at least come close to break even when I sell the 2013 Pro.. there's still a market at this moment.. that'll get worse over time..
  18. Received my M1 Mini today: Used migration assistant to transfer from my Trashcan Mac Pro to the new machine.. so far I'm impressed.. everything has gone quite smoothly. As I open some VW files, I'll let you know how it goes. Model Name: Mac mini Model Identifier: Macmini9,1 Chip: Apple M1 Total Number of Cores: 8 (4 performance and 4 efficiency) Memory: 16 GB System Firmware Version: 6723.101.4 OS Loader Version: 6723.101.4 Serial Number (system):XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Hardware UUID: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Provisioning UDID: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Activation Lock Status: Enabled M1: cinebench multicore: 7563 single core: 1504 Mac Pro: cinebench multicore: 5316 single core: 742 Results from Geekbench 5:
  19. I took the plunge and ordered an M1.. I'll report back in a couple of weeks on performance, dual monitors etc...
  20. Another question to the group: Anyone using dual monitor on the M1? Any thoughts?
  21. I’m considering the M1.. what sorts of projects have you been doing on yours? Any further comments on performance?
  22. FWIW: Here is a geekbench comparison between my 2013 Mac Pro 6 core 64 GB RAM and an M1 Mac Mini: https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/compare/7591582?baseline=7586338
  23. I actually quite like the Logitech MX Master 3
  24. Hi, just checking, and "move face" seems to do what you're looking for.. I don't mean to confuse your search for an answer..
