  1. Could you please post a file with that wall style or a simple floorplan in it where you are seeing this behavior? In testing here, even if I had 5 wall components all different tile fills, I did not see slowness when zooming with some, all or none of these wall components turned off via class.
  2. I actually do seem to be able to both acquire smart points before and during snap loupe, and I can see the extension lines the same before/during/after snap loupe. (This was 2014 SP2 I tested) Does the same thing happen to you in a new blank file with some test objects placed in it?
  3. There were a few improvements like that in 2014. I think that particular one was covered in this compilation video of smaller changes, so it may have been easy to miss: http://www.vectorworks.net/2014/media.php?handleOversize=none&width=960&height=540&movie=http://download2.nemetschek.net/www_movies/2014/new_features/nfv-enhanced-drafting-tools.mp4
  4. The most common cause is what michaelk listed above, I bump them all the time. However as a test, close the snapping palette entirely, continue working for awhile and see if the options change again. It's very easy to accidentally click on the buttons while in the middle of drawing/moving objects.
  5. It is completely unsupported on those versions, but my personal experience/recommendations: I have gotten VW10 to install and run on Windows 7 and 8. I did not have time to try using it enough to give a solid recommendation that it would be ok for heavy duty use, but it ran. Even if you do have problems on Win7/8, then Windows XP mode or a virtual machine running an older version of Windows should have enough power on modern hardware to run it reasonably. For the Mac side, you will not be able to get that version running reliably on the latest 3 or 4 OS X versions at all. I saw graphical glitches galore as well as some serious Open/Save/Export issues.
  6. I just do duplicates as a habit so I can go back and forth and compare, but you're right, it can be ungrouped as well as a kind of undo action.
  7. Something like this? Mostly just used taper face to get the angling right, kept a copy of the raw geometry before the fillet too just in case, since fillet loses edit history:
  8. Verified it keeps whatever the last user-specified grey level was on a 10.6 machine here too. Go ahead and send a description of the problem you're having as well as this from your machine: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/627/DirectX+Diagnostics+and+System+Profiler to tech@vectorworks.net and we can have a look.
  9. Tested Vectorworks 2014 SP2 here on OS X 10.9 (and Windows 7, just in case) and it saves the last gray level set, even after restarting the machine and relaunching Vectorworks. I'll try to find a 10.6 machine to test it on as well to see if I get the same behavior you are.

You should be able to recall any saved sets via the "Manage" button on the top right. Or do you mean you would like it to automatically save sets for you and the last one comes up as default?
  11. Its a combination of things, half of these problems will either disappear or be significantly mitigated once we move to 64bit. (soon!) Most other applications that use as much RAM as Vectorworks does have already or are in the process of moving to 64bit as well for the same reasons. The other half are issues that we need to isolate one by one that simply send memory usage spiraling out of control regardless of how much RAM a machine has or Vectorworks supports. Those issues are not always related to eachother and are the main focus of my troubleshooting currently because of problems users are now coming across in threads like this one.
  12. That error almost never actually indicates that your physical RAM has been used up, it normally means that Vectorworks itself (which is limited to 2.4~3.6GB of RAM currently) has hit its limit. I have had some success with some users uninstalling completely if they had patched to SP1 or SP2, then re-installing the already-patched versions of Vectorworks that include SP 1 and SP2 from the start. However in other cases, users simply resetting preferences has worked, as well as some users just uninstalling, then re applying SP1 and then SP2 directly without opening the software until they were both complete has worked as well. The difficulty I've come across so far is that after resets and reinstalls, immediately there are no problems, so we can't confirm whether the problem was resolved until a few days of use have gone by.
  13. I think this is already an existing wishlist item, but I think the previous one was something like "Allow mapping of currently unmappable keys", basically letting users alter the modifier keys that are currently hard coded. If I cant find that request or it doesn't cover these options, I'll go ahead an create a new one.
  14. I see what you mean, it seems to be distorting the bump image. Going to have someone take a closer look.
  15. Not a clue, but I gave up on needing a full understanding of why users may want abilities that were not included by default a long time ago and turn towards WHAT they're trying to do and how to best suit that. I think it essentially comes down to; if I we a group of people asking for a feature they are willing to pay for, then it should be made available. I mean... there are certainly cases where "But WHY isnt there a parametric cotton candy object in Vectorworks?! I need to model tufts of delicious spun sugar in a number of ways and need a plug in object to do it!!" may occur and those still go on the request list, just much lower on that list than "Good, solid handrails." would.
  16. If you can post a VWX including that object with that texture applied here we can have a look.
  17. Send this in to tech@vectorworks.net and we can take a closer look: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/627/DirectX+Diagnostics+and+System+Profiler
  18. Looks like an issue that needs to be patched. Tried with a number of wall styles and door configurations and I get the same results, which seem wrong, especially considering when you use them as a symbol it works as I would expect. Never assume a bug can't exist, regardless of how commonly used the tool may be. They can appear anywhere for no apparent reason. A huge part of my job is identifying when something exactly like this happens and submitting it to engineering. Which I shall do right now!
  19. Do you think that the handrails and guardrails for stairs should actually be a completely separate tool? Not embedded in the stair settings? Similar to Handrail (but with WAY more customization settings, Handrail is very limited at the moment), but designed to be applied/attached to a stair object after customization?
  20. You can modify multiple callout objects at the same time. I think the easiest way would be to use Select Similar or Custom Selection to get all the callouts selected, then simply edit what you want to in the object info palette. Or click Edit Note at the bottom of the OIP to change the actual text.
  21. THAT you unfortunately can not do yet (to the best of my knowledge) in Renderworks. I had tried something similar where I attempted to recreate an optics table and was not able to get spot lights to bounce in the same way a laser beam will in real life: [img:center]http://i.imgur.com/Tw0l05I.jpg[/img]
