  1. Thanks propstuff. It must be a version 12 only feature. It does not appear in my copy of VW11.5.
  2. How does one turn Quartz on and off?
  3. Jonathan: Does one need to upgrade WinDor each time NNA upgrades VW? Or will the version of WinDor that works with VW11 also work with VW12 and forward? Thanks.
  4. Hi Biplab; I am using 11.5.1, OS10.4.3. Please keep in mind that this problem is not a limitation issue. It is not that I am creating an image that is too large. It is not that I placed an image too far from the origin. I have created images and viewports that initially work. Everything looks and behaves fine. But at some point, when I go to a saved view that has viewports, the viewports are gone. The image is a house that is 18 feet wide by 80 feet long by 30 feet high, drawn at 1/4" scale. The viewport is set to 1/4" scale. The program by itself changed the viewport to millions of feet wide. This behaviour is more in line with corruption than with the idea of software limitations. This is sporatic and unpredictable behaviour. By the way, I have sent the offending file to Yi at NNA. I hope that you will pursue this investigation and find a solution. Thank you for your help.
  5. Hi Biplab: Thank you for looking into this. No that is not the problem that I am having. I do have some more information though. It would appear that technically the images still exist in the viewport. The problem is that the viewport is 2,980,000 feet wide. That is 2.9 million feet @ 1/4 scale. The viewport on the page is blank because the images are so extremely far away from page center.
  6. I am sure that NNA is busy trying to track down Verson 12 bugs. However, I believe that this issue is worthy of your efforts in solving. It is one thing to have a tool not work or have a tool cause a crash. Having your hard work simply dissappear is not acceptable. Is NNA looking into this?
  7. Hi raydraws, and welcome to the forum. Here is a link to some information that should help. http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=22;t=000488 I have never tried a hookup without a router. I would asume though that it should not matter. Get the IP Address using the test button. Good luck.
  8. Ramon: I am not sure that your answer is any more clear than your question. Perhaps you have the same question as I do. How do we have the schedules show the "type" of window or door, such as casement, double hung, pocket, etc. The door PIO calls this Config. The window PIO calls this Sash Operation. I see that Ramon is using VW12. I am using VW11.5.
  9. Thanks Jim. Now I wish you could solve the problem of the disappearing viewports. Some of us have viewports that just up and leave! No rhyme or reason that I can see.
  10. quote: Originally posted by Hooprulz: I too have been trying to import a word doc, with numbered notes for instance, into VW (11.5.1). However, the formatting of the numbered list gets all screwed up and I can't remedy the formatting from within VW... Try doing a copy and paste as shown above. You might also try a copy and paste using a RTF file. Do a save as Rich Text Format with your Word document. Then copy and paste into a text box.
  11. I use the Scale Objects tool often. Very useful but also very dangerous. Sometimes I accidentally scale the entire drawing without realizing it. May I suggest a confirmation dialog for this operation, after the initial Scale Objects dialog box. Something along the lines of "Do you wish to scale the entire drawing?" This would prevent me, (and others I assume), from making a serious global change to the project.
  12. Count me in. I am having this problem as well. Very frustrating. I did note a possible clue. When I double click on the viewport, I choose Design Layer. When I am taken to the Design Layer, the screen is blank. The odd thing is that the X and Y scales read number like this: "1.355739046e10". Clicking on the 100% button does nothing to change this. But clicking on Fit to Object brings the scales back to what they should be, ie: 50"-0", 100'-0", etc. The design layer image also reappears. None of these gymnastics change the viewport problem though. VW11.5.1 and OS10.4.3

  14. I have constructed windows from solids. For circular windows I have had to do this. It takes time, but it can be done. BTW, I think NNA forces us to do this from time to time so that we will appreciate how wonderful and easy the window PIO is.
  15. Sometimes files get corrupted. This is why I make frequent backups. Do a serch on this board and you will find info on file corruption and how to recover from it.
  16. quote: Originally posted by KQ: Select the marker, change the text size/style viw the text menu... This works for me under VW11.5. Perhaps VW12 does it differently?
  17. The first step is to give us more information, such as OS and connection between computer and printer. If you are Windows based, then the HP driver version might help too.
  18. This might help: http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=22;t=000488;p=1#000015

The HP5500 costs around $9,000 for 42" and $12,000 for postscript. The 60" is over $15,000. How do you figure that this is the plotter of choice for Architects. This is a big expensive machine that I do not have the need, or room for. I would be interested in your expanding upon your opinion.
  20. I use Peter's method but I use "Save As" quite a bit more I think. In the past I have had files get corrupted. For this reason I make Save As copies routinely so that I do not have too many hours invested in any one copy. I have a job Folder template. It contains all of the subfolders that I need for a project. Each time I start a new client I duplicate that template and name it to the client name. That way all of my job folders have the same folder structure. It helps me file memos, PDFs, movies, VW files, etc. consistently.
  21. Perhaps someone with an understanding of Tiger Automator could explain how to automate this process. It seems that Automator should be able to automatically "click" the print button and sequencially number the saved sheets. The result would be 200 pdf sheets each numbered 01 through 200. I agree Andrew. Having to do 200 sheets manually is a pain. For me the bigger problem would be having to remember what the last sheet was numbered. "Was it 182 or 183"?
  22. In my experience, colors will print as levels of grey when setting your printer to print greyscale. I do not think that it is currently possible to do what The Hamma wants to do.
  23. Kevin, I am curious. I have the same setup. When I use batch print, I am required to name each sheet and press the print button. I have to repeat this for each sheet. The program will not batch print unattended. Once all the sheets are printed to PDF, I can then assemble them into one document using Acrobat Pro. Is this what you have to do?
  24. Works fine on my Mac using Tiger and Safari.
  25. Under OS 9 there was a utility called KeyCaps that would show the location of special symbols on the keyboard. In Panther and Tiger this feature is called Keyboard Viewer and is accessed via the Finder's Input menu. To reveal it, launch System Preferences and choose the International preference. Click on the Input Menu tab. Click on Keyboard Viewer and Show imput menu in menu bar. You will now have an icon in the menu bar with the option of Show Keyboard Viewer.
