  1. Thanks for the help, Robert. I was getting close to achieving that but needed that side length of 0.0001 instead of the 0.0 value I was giving it. I assume I won't have to be doing that math in the next release.
  2. It seems to be a tread depth issue. I can get 4 steps in the winder if I set the tread depth to 16". Try putting different values in the tread depth option and see what happens to the winder section. 11", 13", and 16" seem to get the best results..
  3. When I double click on my "Model" saved view, it goes to that linked layer that has all my layers where I want them and it is in wireframe. I then go to a side view to measure from one floor to another with the measure tool but cannot if the "Stack Layers" option is turned on in the View menu. This has to be turned off to measure in that linked layer in wireframe. I'm never trying to enter a render mode here. I want an option in the saved view command to have "Stack Layers" either on or off for that particular view. Thanks for your quick response to both my issues, Katie
  4. Why is the number of treads greyed out and unchangeable in the Settings>Flights and Platforms when the winder section is selected? I just want 4 steps in the winder but caint.
  5. I'd like to have the ability to toggle on or off the "Stack Layers" option within a saved view preference. The "Stack Layers" option is usually on when I'm working in different layers, and then when I want to measure objects between two layers I go to my model in a linked layer and have to remember to turn off linked layers in order to use the tape measure tool. I don't want to have to remember. This is, of course, if we won't ever be able to use these drawing tools with "Stack Layers" on.
  6. I'm not having problems "with the DJ9800 printing large VW files with 3D elements". Annekoos, I have had the same problem printing multiple copies in VW. Can you tell me how you solved your problem? I'm on a Mac, are you?
  7. Yes, I have 14 different stair configuration options in my dialog including "Double Platform-U". It's surprising to me how different VW versions are in different countries if that's what's going on here, and I'm in the US w/ 12.01. In this case it's not even a metric/imperial or language issue.
  8. In case this has been asked for before, I'd like to put my vote in for viewport rendering to be able to go on in the background while you do other work on another design or sheet layer. Currently, it's making me do other things like read tech forums and getting distracted while I wait for the rendering to finish.
  9. Once you have made the line weight choice in the attribute palette with no objects selected, you must do a "save file" to keep that new choice as the default. The same is true with the other attributes as well, such as "fill" or "no fill". Also you may have "Enable Auto-classing" checked in the File>Document Settings>Standard Naming dialog. It will automatically put objects drawn with certain tools into specific classes that have specific attributes. HTH.
  10. Running VW Universal Beta perchance??????
  11. It seems the Up/Down options would add more complexity. You would have to have four boxes to toggle through to enter numbers. On each for Up, Down, Left, and Right. Is x/y really that hard to use?
  12. I'm in the same situation that Benson was a year ago, trying to send a file to a printing service. I tried Barry's suggestion above but that didn't help, but there may have been more combinations to that set-up that I didn't explore yet. Just sending a PDF had it's own set of compatability problems for whatever reason, such as blank areas in some wall patterns, so the print service suggested sending the file as a postcript and they would distill it there. However it would only come through as an 8.5x11" portion of what is an 18x24" sheet. I could see the same thing happening on my end after making the .ps file and trying to open it on my Mac in Preview. It seems that there is different problem each time I send a file to an off-site printer, and I've tried a few. Often the sheet will look just fine on the print services computer moniter and then print out poorly from their printer and they don't know why. I talked to David in tech by phone yesterday and we couldn't figure it out. Turned Quartz off and it didn't help either.
  13. I'm currently experiencing this same problem and Barry's solution did not work. Has anybody found a solution to this if they've run into it? Benson, are you still out there?
  14. Do you we really need this crap on this forum? I applaud Jan15 for his restraint. It's embarrassing and laughable. NNA, are you sure you want this guy as an authorized reseller?
  15. - Convert the result to a Nurb Mike, what would be the advantage or reason of converting to NURBS?
  16. Use the "Position" button in the OIP of the window or door .
  17. With the section viewport selected, click on the "Section Line Instances" button in the OIP. From there you can select onto which Design layer or Sheet layer you want the section lines to appear.
  18. Pete, I'm curious as to how you use this method. When you draw walls, for example, for a second story, you have to move each of them up to the appropriate height, right? Same for the Roof. Seems like extra work. Maybe you're not doing houses?
  19. I use the font "Archie" (can't remember where I got it) and get that symbol when hit the option and C keys together. Why not use an architectural font for your notes as well?
  20. Maybe you have the sidelites on in the PIO settings and the overall width not big enough to accomodate them so it's looking strange.
  21. You can add the key functions back in to 12 through the Workspace Editor under the Tools menu.
  22. It can be done in the "Wall detail" tab of the door PIO and this is in Architect, I don't know about the fundamental version. However it seems they have the interior and exterior backwards in the settings dialog, IMO. I've always known exterior doors to open inward. But I'm in the US where many things seem to be backward these days...
  23. This may have been posted before, but I would love it if every Plug-in Object that had some text that is associated with it could have all the same parametric controls in the OIP that a text object has for that text- font, size, style, etc. so we don't have to go up to the menu bar for each change. How 'bout at least just for the dimensions, there's plenty of room for it in the OIP. Thanks.
  24. I use a Logitech Trackman (T-RA18) with the thumb track ball. I was having problems with the wheel in SketchUp and the techie from SketchUp told me to uninstall the mouse software since I was on a Mac. He said it just gets in the way. It works fine with VW and no mouse software installed. Maybe the same thing is happening to you, cberg. You will lose the ability to assign custom tasks to the buttons, however. I've grown used to the hot keys and there's usually some finger hovering over the U key at all times.
