  1. If the copies of the Prototypes are complete Buildings, 100% exactly the same and independent from other stuff, simple Symbols may work too. Not sure if that will work in calculations. Copying complete buildings by Viewports on Design Layers is quite ok. Using it for parts of buildings like toilet areas and such things inside a building seems to be much more difficult and uncomfortable.
  2. You can try Viewports on Design Layers. Separate your house prototypes on own Layers and prepare Layers to put your Viewports on. You can move those in Z-Height later.
  3. Answer : Yes, they are compatible. So far I see no IFC problems with VW 3D geometry being unsupported.
  4. Meanwhile, yes. Interesting, there I get some of those Multi Volume Generic Solids in. But not all. Have to check IFC Tags in Model deeper.
  5. 1. Attach/upload images 2. Write message 3. Submit post 4. In your own post, open attachment in new window 5. Copy URL to clipboard 6. Edit your own message 7. Icon "Enter an Image" 8. Choose "Insert a non Floating Image" (Other options won't work) 9. Enter your URL from clipboard 10. Press OK 11. Save edited message
  6. A new Wall Style for each step ? (If I got that "furred out" right )
  7. You render a lot and use C4D too. It is no wrong to look for a new workstation with dual xeons, can't have enough cores with highest GHz. I just think that consumer/gamer GPU are more reliable and have less problems than those Pro GPU's that sound Pro, better at the end even in Pro Software. In 98% those Dell/HP/... workstations work very well and are reasonably priced. If you have bad luck your hard disk may fail after 3 month.
  8. 1. Yes, 1 Story 2. I have assigned the correct Story to those 6 Layers used in 3D Model 3. No. Is IFC relevant for Energos when I set all these against ground/outside things ? 4, Yes There is a lot potential in Energos to manipulate the rating. I meanwhile tuned my calculation now to get myself an "A" label. Excluding foundation and attic walls made look my walls better. Excluding my extra finsih floors slabs made the floor against ground much better, although these would help in reality. So it looks like you can have a 1-Slab-package only, for correct calculation and should include additional extra layers by correction values to the main package. So clients, don't trust any label that you don't have faked yourself. Windows R values automatic calculations are quite strange or simple. I think there doesn't happen any face or volume calculation. I have large glazed areas with very small frame areas. I checked some manufacturers solution that give a R of 0,70 - 0,80. I reached that in VW by choosing a suitable glass package. But as soon as I switched from standard aluminium to typ 9 aluminium, that tuned my R value from 0,70 to 1,40 Also I don't get why I don't get any Energy recuperation by my large glazed areas so far.
  9. Solibri not yet. IFC Tags, maybe not perfect. Still every else geometry is there with my poor IFC assignments.
  10. Everything that was OR contained any Generic Solids including multiple Volumes did not come into Archicad at all. While all complex Solid Additions or Substractions did. Single Volume Generic Solids too. So may be an Archicad issue but I assume there is at least some difference in how the geometry gets exported. Also I see that Groups of Geometries that have an IFC Tag assigned will export nevertheless only those included parts that have an own IFC Tag and drops all the rest. Do you have some more informations on geometry standards mandatory for IFC ? Once you said Solids are included and kept solid in IFC.
  11. That is fantastic. For me one of those "shiny new features" really worth mentioning.
  12. Yes, that is what I expected. Tried it again, no plant tool here. Just a dead Symbol from the Library for me. But honestly, not a big deal. Can't remember that I ever switched between seasons other than for testing purposes. But these are still my preferred plants. Low polygon count and don't look so bad.
  13. There is an example in the second half of the video :
  14. I didn't look for OIP settings ... I don't think there are many ... I know such a tool from C4D in the past, to switch through seasons. Is there such a tool in VW (?) I didn't expect one as I saw in the elder file that there are all seasons versions as separate models. I didn't even thought to look for a 2D appearance.
  15. ^ + 100 More hierarchy in general. And free all those important Commands from their text menu pit by giving them icons.
  16. I see the problems are the large glazing areas, not the floor slabs. (Not easy to see which text belongs to which Building Elements Result Image. The word "windows/doors" is far more near to the Image of the walls) Anyhow, I would like to know if tat design is Energos Calculation compatible. Especially that I include my foundation walls to the calculation. (frost apron) This it what it looks like :
  17. No problem with importing the 6 m elder tree in a blank file. I have VW Arch so no plant tool (?) I imported one from the delivered libraries as a Symbol. Maybe the VB files have an older VW file format ?
  18. Exactly. Thanks Marissa. Put it into my watch list now. [OT]Any news from the image based geometry creation side ? New Cat Reliefs ?[/OT]
  19. OK, it works as expected when in Top Plan Mode. It works for active layer only in any 3D view. Except when you use a RW Render Style (At least a realistic) I'm on a Mac.
  20.  It does here without any exception ??? Have to look into it. Maybe only if you use Stories and Levels or such things (?)
  21. ^ That doesn't work with Symbols as expected. Yes, the Wall Height will stay and does not adapt. No, the Wall Height will not adapt to that Layer at all. It won't even adapt when you change Top Bound to another Story Level ! As for the 3D Viewports on Design Layers. Working with these is so cumbersome that I take back my recommendation to use Viewports instead. A Viewport can't happen on the same Layer as its Source. A Viewport can't contain a certain selection only, it is always the whole Layer Content. A Viewport Border will not work in 3D views (?) A Viewport will, like a Mesh jump into your Selection Tool as soon as you reach the area of its boundary box, even no geometry under your cursor. .... And it looks like the parametric Object Heights bound to "Story above/below" doesn't work either.
  22. Didn't find the Thread again but I love your "Create Building from Polygon" Marionette Work and Video.
  23. BTW I now see the problem with the right tripple column combo docked. It does not keep proportion. I like to use one third sizes, but it changes to something else (each restart ?)
